in the Fox Volant of Snowy mountain novel, Yinma River Mountain Stronghold (Eng Ma Coan) dig a chest that contains a Sabre, this sabre has a hidden clue/secret to treasure of previous emperor. but who hid and buried the chest ? and Pingtong Escort Agency have awaited nearby for some time , so they know the chest was buried around that area and that To Cu An would eventually come here, but how can they know?

I have only read the local old translation of XSFH (I couldn't find an english translation online) so it won't be very accurate. The Sabre was taken by the Manchu Bodyguard (his name was Luo Yuanhe iirc) who was the brother of the Escort Agency leader. The Escort Agency had an enmity with Yinma Bandits so they apparently hid the sabre and intentionally feed the information to them and lying to ambush when they arrived. What I am not clear is how they retrieved the (empty) chest/container of the saber. It was last seen when Dao Zhi'an (Dao Baishui's son) was going to return back to Tian Guinong. It was not mentioned again afterwards.
