a_t - But, when did the two of them ever fight? Towards the end of the novel?
I don't recall them fighting, but although Yaoyue is arguably more vicious and cruel, Yan Nantian's survivor instinct, like Xiao Feng's, will probably see him through.
Though I think a fight between them will be interesting since they are supposedly the two highest skilled in the novel/series.
they fought once (chapter 119) , not long after yao yue escape from cave , when she appeared on black spider wedding , she met yan nantian and fought for a while , before being stopped by xiao yu'er ,who threaten her that if she die, she cannot watch him vs hua wuque next battle , yao yue who wasnt sure winning against yan nantian, then stopped the fight.
Thanks. Jiang Biehe. He was defeated by Yan Nantian. "He is eventually captured and crippled by Yan Nantian" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juedai...gjiao#Villains
The 1988 TVB adaptation did not follow the novel plotline very closely - the ending with Jiang Biehe eating his son and becoming all-powerful was a TVB invention. Xiao Yu'er becoming a powerful fighter from reading a manual didn't happen in the adaptation. The role of Princess Lianxing was also completely different.
I love the conversation between Kong Kum and his son prior to the cannibalism. It brings the evilness of villains to another level. Normally, villains in wuxia have conscience. No matter how evil they are, they still love their loved ones. Kong Kum is pure cold blooded villain who is capable of killing his only son. Too bad that only 1988 TVB adaption has that part. I wonder the new mainland Chinese version has that part as well. Yeung Chak Lam is the perfect Kong Kum.
