Do you think it's possible or likely that her act of treason (because that's what it was) against her people resulted in her execution? At the time that Princess Hua Jeng provided Gwok Jing with the Seung Yeung intel, her father Genghis Khan had only weeks to live, but if her brothers Tolui, Ogodei, Chagahatai, and Jochi were to find out what she had done, none of them was likely to spare her either.
Princess Hua Jeng struck me as an honorable character. She felt responsible for the suicide death of Gwok Jing's mother Lee Ping (because the princess's lament to Genghis Khan tipped the Khan off that Gwok Jing was about to desert the Mongol army), and though Gwok Jing never personally blamed the princess for his mother's death, the princess nevertheless felt guilty over it and might have seen the sacrifice of her own life as compensation for Lee Ping's death. If this were indeed the case and Gwok Jing knew it , though, it would be a difficult burden for him to bear.
What do you think?
