Default Tales of past wulin lore by the time of Wai Siu Bo

I remember reading a remark on these forums many years ago that as a child, Wai Siu Bo had heard storytellers regaling him with tales about the adventures of Ling Wu Chung, who probably lived four or five generations before Wai Siu Bo's time.

This was probably something of a missed opportunity. I think it would have been cool if Wai Siu Bo, as a child, had heard not only about Ling Wu Chung, but about many of the major wulin events that had taken place in the Jin Yong universe since DGSD. Perhaps the storytellers would have also told WSB and his peers about the Massacre at Tsui Yin Manor during the Northern Sung era (DGSD), or about Gwok Jing and Yeung Gor defending Seung Yeung Fortress for years and killing Mongke Khan (LOCH/ROCH), or Cheung Mo Gei taking on the six orthodox sects at Gwong Ming Peak (HSDS). Imagine young Wai Siu Bo listening to all these stories of wulin lore from centuries past.

Unless written down by the court historians in a manner like the Records of the 3 Kingdoms (which in itself gets hyped) stuff like Ju Xian Zhuang Fight or GJ vs Mongols would get hyped over each telling such after a few hundred years, it ends up being like Sun Wukong vs the Gods.
