If Sing Kwun's teacher, the Shaolin monk Hung Geen, hadn't been killed, how might the story of HSDS been different?

He would probably had eventually realised SK's true nature and turn him over to XX or at the very least expel him from Shaolin

If Kongjian did not die, possibly zwj will have a good fight with him at Brightness Peak.

It's a good question to consider if Cheung Mo Gei is ever even born if Hung Geen didn't die. If Hung Geen lived, would Tse Tsun still have pursued the Dragon Sabre? If not, he likely would never have met Cheung Chui San and Yan So So, and had they not all been marooned on Ice Fire Island, Cheung and Yan might never have gotten together and had CMG.

Good questions, Ken. If Z3F is rumored to live > 300 yrs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhang_Sanfeng, see no issue for Kongjian.

I don't know about 300 years, but it is conceivable that Cheung 3 Fung spent parts of his life in three different dynasties. He was born during Southern Sung times, lived most of his life during the Yuan Dynasty, and there's a chance that by the time he died, the Ming Dynasty had started.
