Default Yang Guo and 18 dragon subduing palm

    does anyone understand mandarin here?
does it mentioned that Yang Guo actually learned xiang long shi ba zhang but cannot use it because he had only 1 hand?

This looks like from 1st edition HSDS?

Anyway, it doesnt say he learnt it. It says : ' Although YG was GJ's nephew, he had lost an arm and thus was unable to LEARN this skill which require both arms to practice'

Yeung Gor no doubt observed Gwok Jing and North Beggar Hung 7 Gung using Hong Lung 18 Palms on a number of occasions. It wouldn't be surprising if he understood how it worked, but he never trained in the skill himself (not his style, perhaps).

Watching it is really not enough. Probably the inner formula is crucial. Kinda like copying the 72 Stroke Pixie Swordplay external form was useless.

IN any case, like I always harp on, its just PLOT related. If JY wanted, he could have YG use his sleeve as the missing arm and still use a modified XL18Z. Frankly, can you imagine if GJ or XF lost an arm or had an arm occupied with carrying HR or Ah Zhu, they wouldnt be able to bust out a stroke from XL18Z at all?

yes, that is from 1st edition HSDS.

btw, some stances of 18 dragon subduing palms actually only use 1 hand/palm , so if Yang Guo really learnt 18 dragon subduing palms, even though he cannot use all 18 stances because of impairement, at least he still can use 1 stance.
thankfully Jin Yong removed that sentence on 2nd edition
