Default Gwok Seung and Chow Chi Yerk never took on Buddhist names? How? Why?

Ngor Mei Sect in the Jin Yong universe is a Buddhist sect (though it's portrayed as Taoist in the works of other wuxia writers). Some of its members were nuns (Fung Ling See Tai; Mit Jeut See Tai), while others were laypersons (Chow Chi Yerk, Ding Mun Gwun, Gei Hiu Fu).

Among the leaders, Fung Ling and Mit Jeut were nuns who took on Buddhist names, but curiously, the sect founder Gwok Seung and fourth generation sect leader Chow Chi Yerk continued to use their lay names. The Ngor Mei Sect's policy on this matter seemed to be rather haphazard.

    E-mei is not a nunnery.

Male disciples are allowed too. Besides SQS, is Guhongzi (孤鴻子; 孤鸿子) = Miejue's senior from E-mei too?

Emei is one of the four sacred Buddhist mountains of China, so it would make sense for it to be a Buddhist sect. Oddly enough, in XAJH, Emei seems to be a Taoist sect too...

We do not know what name Guo Xiang (if any) took when she became a nun. It could be she simply did not take one (Xie Xun did not either), which would probably fit her typical flouting of conventions. ZZR was never a nun (at least, not after the first edition), so of course she did not have a Buddhist name. It was not required for the leader of Emei to be a nun - although the first three heads were nuns, it was merely an established custom, not set down by the rules.
