sorry, i was too busy to post comment in the other chapters. i really like this story, i don't know why but i like ximen too. hehe, some how i want ximen and zou to be a couple.

"Mei, please listen to me." Zou was chasing after mei. "Please, it's not as you think."
"You know that i like him. You know how much too. But... you still decided to... I guess your lying about how much you care for friendship. I guess you dont care about Lei either so i might as well tell you." Mei hesitated for a second. "I betrayed you. I betrayed you 9 years ago. I didn't give you Lei's phone number to keep in contact with you. It was his cell phone. He especially bought a cell phone to get your call but i didn't give it to you. Now you know what kind of a person i am!"
"Cell phone." Zou remembered when Ximen asked why Lei didn't get a cellphone.
"No, i don't want to be restricted to my freedom." LEi said that.
"Liar," Zou started crying. "He must be very hurt." She turned to Mei. "But why, why did you do that?"
"Because i used to like him. I liked him the first time i saw him with you. I was just afraid to go to him because i was afraid that he would reject my offer." MEi was cryign too. "But you went, and he accepted it. i so envied you and regreted so much why i didn't do as my heart wished. Even though i felt guilty towards you, i still did it. Like you, i liked Lei for 9 years. It's not that i wanted ot be with him. It was just taht i didn't want to to have him either. THat was what i was thinking till i saw Ximen. But you... you have to take him away too. Lei you didn't know, but XImen... Huh, what can i say... it's not like i was such a good friend either. I have no right to critize you." With that, she walked away.
Zou slid against the wall. "I'm so sorry Mei. We've been friends for so long, but, i don't even understand your feelings. I dont' have the right to be your friend. I'm so sorry. You must be very troubled these years right?" She wiped some tears from her eyes. "VEry well then. I'll get Ximen for her. I have to... within one week."

The next day.
"Good..." Zou waved.
Lei just walked past.
"morning... huh, i thought i already could stand that but i guess i just can't help being sad. WUuuuu. Go Zou. You have to win. Just remember that this is for Mei, your 12 year friend."
"Hi!!!"
"Oh its just you Ximen."
"What do you mean by 'oh its just you Xiimen' Lets start again. Hi!!!!."
"Hi."
"THat's a little better. Do you have time tonight?"
"WUuuu..." THought zou. "Last time with him wasn't such a good encounter. I'm afraid to go out with him. But... what's with being his girlfriend if i dont' go out with him. I have to get close to him, be hte most closest person in the world to him. This is how i could change him." Zou lifted up her head "WHat about in the day time. I'll stay with you from after school till when you sleep. I'll tell my mom i'm studying at Mei's house."
"I'm sorry, i have to be with chun."
"Uh, uh, uh. I don't care how you were before Ximen," zou said "but, from now on, for this week, as long as this week isn't up, i'm your girl and my rule is... you could only be with ME!!!!! No one else but MEEEEEEE!!!!!" When zou finished screaming, she noticed that hte whole hallway was staring at her. "OMIGOD. what did i just say? WHy did i have to be so loud. i'm stupider than a pig." When she turned around, a big boulder hit her.
"Hi" she forced out a very made up smile.
"Humph!" Mei walked away.
"Lei..."
"I wanted her to make up with you."
"So... you mean you know... about, phone..." Thinking to herself. "Mei told her that i'm the zou?"
"I dont' know why you two are fightign, but i wished that you could keep your best friend. I guess i'm too nosy." With that he walked away.
"Omigod," zou thought to herself. "What is lei thinking. he must be very angry, but why? he doesnt' know that i'm zou. Oh, i thought mei told him. Thank god she didn't, but... i do feel a little disappointed."
"Lei," she called. She could still see his back.
A hand went over her mouth. "I have a rule too. I never said this to any of my girls or cared, but i'm saying it to you, besides me, you can't have any guys. You can't even talk to one, understand?"
"Yes.... sir."

hahaa, ximen is so funny. i don't like lei and mei. they annoyed me somehow. now i can't wait for the next chapter. please update soom!!!

"WHy do i have to do this?" Zou, all dressed in black, tiptoeing a few feet behind Ximen and another girl, felt like a thief, a stalker.
"Ximen," the girl whinned. "Go to my house tonight, will you.
"Fine,"
"Idiot!!!" thought zou. "WHat am i supposed to do, follow you two to the house and peek through the windows. What i see must not be impressing.
Zou actually followed them to hte the girls house.
"THat's it, i'm going home." Just as zou was about to go, she heard Ximen say.
"You know what honey, i... can't go with you... i just can't. I'm very busy."
Before the girl could protest, Ximen walked down her porch.
"God," Ximen sighed and slapped his forehead. "WHat am i doing... something is wrong with my brain. I ruined my record. This is the first time i rejected a girl. All for that little monkey zou."
"Monkey," zou really didnt' like being called. SHe sighed.
"At least there's still some human in him. Mei, you have hope now. yes!!!"
"Stalking someone uh?" Zou felt a hand on her back. She closed her eyes and turned around. IT was lei.
"Uh, Uh, no, uh, why should i uh.... stalk, uh, anyone he, he, he <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> "
Lei started to walk away.
"Lei!!!"
"I never knew you cared about him so much. I never knew i cared about you so much either."
"Lei?"
" You know how bad i feel these days. I can sense myself changing. AS long as something has to do with you, i would worry about it, i would try to help you. I... shouldn't be like that. I hate myself so much. I feel like i'm betraying zou. But, i like you... yes, partly because you resemble zou too much. The more i stay with you, the more i feel that i'm right next to her. You give me so much warmth. But... i feel that i also like you becasue..... because you're zou. Because you're Li Zou instead of Li zou # 2."
"Lei?" Zou started to cry. (Thinking) "I don't know what to do. LEi likes me for who i am. isn't that what i want? I got what i want... but why does it have to be now? Why does it have to be in this situation? I have to be with ximen."
"Zou?"
"Huh!?"
"What is your answer to me?"
"Uh..."
"Never mind." Lei shook his head hopelessly. "It doesn't matter whether you answer or not anyway." With that, he walked away.
WAtching lei leave, zou was close to heartbroken.
"Forgive me lei..." She whimpered "Only for 5 more days. Then i won't have to be with ximen anymore. Then i could... be by your side. I want you to know that i'm the zou now and the zou 9 years ago. Both of them love you."
"Here's your lunch."
"Oh, you made lunch for me." Ximen smiled. Then, like a flash, he kissed zou on the lips. Zou's face went as red as a strawberry.
"THank you, my little wife."
Zou gulped. "Wife."
"I think that i'm really in love with you."
"Yeah, huh?"
"I'm talking for real. I'm not playing."
AGain, half of the hallway looked. Zou was already used to it. THese days, she had become the greatest news in the school. She didn't know how lei or mei felt. She was just happy that right here, at this moment neither of there were here.
"Please don't be so loud."
"WHat," ximen said playfully. "I want the whole school to know that i, Ximen, fell in love for real." He looked into her eyes. THose beautiful and black eyes seemed to penetrate her. SHe looked away.
"Ah, XImen..."
"You want to know more about me right. Ok, to the girl that i like, i won't keep anything from. MEet me tonight and, i'll tell you all about it."
"Um... I'm not trying to invade your privacy. I just want... ok... i'll listen to whatever you have to tell me. I'll listen."

Zou and XImen were sitting in ximen's house. THere was no one else and them room was very dim with only a small lamp. she could only see Ximen's outline and none of his features.
"Open up the big light please." Zou moved around uneasily. Thinking about what happened the last time they were together made her shiver to the bone. "Your house is so big. It's scary."
"No, leave it like this. That's the only way i can face you while telling you the story."
"Go on."
"When i was in elementary school. I liked this girl," Ximen began. "I don't know what got into me. I just liked her. I wasn't even in the same class as her nor did i talk to her very often. at that time i was very shy. Just looking at her made me blush. Everyday, i would wait on her way home to secretly see her once more. in her heart, i was nothing."
"Then what happened?"
"One day, she saw this boy. THis boy that was just as miserable as me. HIs name was Lei."
Zou jolted. (thinking) "god, don't play around with me over here. IT's another lei. it has to be."
"THen..." SHe had to work very hard to make her voice not shiver.
"She helped him out of his misery and became his best friend. I was just watching. I cried many times. I told myself, one day, someday, i would get her to look at me. One day, i would get her to look at no one but me. I'm an only child. I get whatever i want and so much love from my parents. I have everything, but i have nothing becaue all i really wanted was that girl. I wanted her to stay by my side and... but one day, lei suddenly announced to the class when the teacher wasn't there, 'when i grow up, i'm gonna marry...'"
"Noooo!!!" Zou covered her ears. "Don't say anything anymore. I don't need to hear it. Please stop!"
"All right. You could stay in that position if you want to, but i'm still gonna say what i'm gonna say. i'll just pretend i'm talking to the wall." He continued, "then lei left. She waited for him for 9 years. Everyday, i would see her staring at Leis' old seat. Every day, i would see his name in her diary. She sat in front of me so i could see. But she doesn't know that in these 9 years, while she's been waiting for him, i was waiting for her just the same. The only thing that is unfair is that i'm going crazy for you, but you're going crazy for someone else."
Zou took her hands from her ears. Tears filled her eyes. Now that she thought about it, she did remember Ximen. THe memory was very dim because as Ximen said, they've only talked for a few times. She remembered that each time, XImen would look very nervous and stumble on his words and smile embarassingly. She didn't know what to do. She was deeply touched. She had waited for Lei for 9 years. She knows the feeling of waiting for someone;she could deeply understand it. Carefully, she said to him,"Why did you tell me this? What is it that you want?"
"I just want you tol know. It's been too hard for me to hide my feelings for you. You know what, every time i'm flirting with another girl when you're there... you don't know how... i feel. But of course, i understand that you couldn't care less and the only reason that you care now is becasue of your friend."
"Oh yeah," though Zou to herself. "XImen likes me. For real. Then... what is Mei gonna do. Oh mei, i wanted to do something for you. I shouldn't have played with fire. How am i gonna get out of this."
"CAn you stay by my side?"
"WHat?"
"LIke now. i don't care if you like me or not. I just want you by me. I don't believe that there wouldn't be a day when you like me as much as you like Liu Lei. I don't believe it. As long as you give me a chance, i can show you my heart. Zou," he gently tilted her head to him. In the dark, zou could see his eyes. They were so flaming, so warm, so longing. She couldn't look anymore. "I'll be nice to you." he continued. "Just give me a chance. Please. Ximen let go and buried his head in his arms. If you leave me again, i don't know what would happen to me. I don't know how i'm going to go on. I really don't know."
Zou didnt' know why. SHe just didn't understand but before she knew it, he was in her arms and she was trying to comfort him like a mother. At last she said, "Ok, i'll stay by your side. I make you happy." More tears came out. "Goodbye lei," she thought. "I love you, but, i can't stand to see Ximen so miserable."

That night, Zou didn't sleep at all, she didn't know what to do. THinking about it now, she regreted being with Ximen. Relationships are so complicated and twisted. how can everyone get what they want? Why should she let go of her dream, her happiness for this person that just likes her. But then again, if she already agreed, she shouldn't change. She'll just hurt XImen more.
"Maybe," she thought to herself, "I can work very hard to make him not like me. Yes!!! Oh my goodness, why didn't i think of that before... but how?" The first thought that came to her was scenes on TV series where the guy or the girl makes the other dislike them by..."
"NO! i can't do that! that's not me! But... it's my only way out."

The next day.
Zou was with a few other guys. Out of the girls in her school, she could be seen as one of the prettiest. Her only problem before was being too quiet and aloof, only with Mei by her side. Now that she has disguised herself to be an outgoing and flirty girl, many guys were attracted. Truthfully, they just wated to play too.
"Really," Zou smiled cutely. "Oh, i think so too..." As they were talking, zou felt the guy reach into her shirt and touch her skin. Just as she was about to push that guy away, Ximen came.
"Oh, nice timing. You're famous boyfriend." the guy smiled. his name was Ling. "Come on zou. Show us how you handle these situations. Let us see."
Ximen was watching with his eyes wide opened. Zou walked towards him. Without a word, he pulled her out to the balcony.
"What did you call that. What the hell do you think you were doing?"
"Why should it matter to you?"
"Why?! You know how much i care for you."
"What did you say yesterday night. You said, as long as i stay by your side, you wont ask for anything else. That should include allowing me to be with other guys. HUH, i actually thought that you loved me till the point that you could withstand everthing that i do. I guess i'm wrong. Guys... they're all like that. They want more and more. I just said that i would stay by your side yesterday and today you're invading my privacy" Zou closed her eyes. (thinking) "I'm so sorry. Please go away. don't make me say something even meaner and stupider."
Ximen shook his head and walked away.
"Yes. this is good. Ximen can slowly change my status in his heart. I have to keep it up for a few more days."
THe next few days, zou could be seen with those gansters all thoughout school. She didn't even have anytime to think of Lei anymore. Every moment at school was like a battle for her.
"Oh, what am i doing? is this worth it. My reputation is totally messed up. I'm starting to regret this."
"Hey zou."
"Um."
"Come on."
"Where are you taking me."
"Somewhere nice." he kissed her cheek. "My baby."
They went to the bar. The odor of all types of liquors made zou feel sick.
"Whisky please." The guys ordered.
Zou watched with horror and disgust as she watched them drink glass after glass.
"Ah, refreshing. Zou, have some."
"No, no thank you. I'm not to the age yet."
"Neither are we? Nobody cares. People now just want to make money. Drink. I command you."
"I can't."
"WE'll see about that." he took the glass and started to force the liquid into zou's throat. The spicy and bitter liquid burned as it went down her throat and windpipe. They did it again and again until she was nearly fainted.
"Now, it's showtime." The dragged the half fainted zou into a little room at the end of the bar.
"WHich one of us should go first?"
"What about you? Do you want to?"
"My pleasure." the big guy started to unbutton the front of her top and loosened the laces of her jeans. Just now, Zou suddenly woke up.
"Ahhh!! what are you guys doing?! LEt me go?!"
"Quiet!!!" the big guy screamed and held up a knife to zou. QUiet or else..."
He didn' need to say more. Zou knew that she was in big trouble now. She had never thought that it was gonna be like this.
"Help!!! somebody help!!!!"
"Shut up!" the knife and made a cut on Zou's neck. She felt the pain and the blood driping down slowly.
"That's only a little cut on the neck. I don't think that you would want it on you fac....."
Zou only heard a big thump and the big guy was unconcious on the floor. The other guys immediately picked up his knife and started to fight the intruder. It wasnt until they started fighting did Zou realize that it was lei. Finally, Lei pushed off the last person and quickly grabbed zou and ran. he was running very quickly, so quickly that zou couldn't keep up and was dragged all along the way. She felt so dizzy and felt like she was gonna throw up.
"No. i can't... go anymore. Please let me rest." She began huffing and puffing. Suddenly, she saw a red stain on Lei's arm.
"Lei?" She slowly stood up and reached for lei's wounded arm, but before she knew anything, she felt a hot sting on her face and she fell down. She slowly touched the place where lei had slapped. Tears filled her eyes. Strange, she thought. I didn't even cry when those people were doing that to me but i'm crying now.

"I have my reasons." That was all she could say.
"I'm not in the mood to hear them." Before she knew it, Lei was walking off and she quickly got up to follow him.
"Don't follow me! I don't ever want to see you anymore Li Zou. I thought there was something in you but... i don't want to see you or have anything to do with you. Zou, vanish from my eyes right now."
Watching him walk away, Zou wanted to say something or try to explain but she could't get herself to do that. She felt so low-class, so stupid that she didn't have the right to even explain for herself.
"Lei, why wont you understand? How can i explain to you. Why is is always like this. Why are you... gradually moving further and further away from me. i want to run after you, but neither time or you ever wait for me."

hehehe, lie is so brave, i felt sorry for ximen. i didn't want ximen to likes zou because there is still mei.
