드라마 <웃지마라 정든다> 제작이 또 다시 무산됐다.

지난 2005년 제작에 돌입해 출연 배우들까지 확정 지어놓고도 투자 편성 등의 문제로 촬영을 시작조차 못한 <웃지마라 정든다>가 지난 해 다시 제작에 들어가 올해 초 본격적인 촬영을 눈앞에 두고 있는 상황에서 또 무산되고 만 것.

<웃지마라 정든다>는 애초 윤상호 감독이 메가폰을 잡고, 배우 김재원이 주인공으로 나설 예정이었다. 하지만 5개월 이상 촬영이 미뤄지자 김재원이 출연을 포기했고, 이에 드라마 외주제작사 제이투픽쳐스가 손해배상 청구 소송을 냈으나 법원은 김재원의 손을 들어줬다.

이후 다시 제작되는 것이 불가피해보였던 <웃지마라 정든다>는 지난 해 말 한철수 PD로 감독을 교체하고 주연배우를 다시금 물색 중이었다. 주인공으로는 정일우, 한예슬 등 요즘 최고 인기를 구사하고 있는 톱스타가 거론된 것으로 알려졌다.

헤어진 엄마를 찾기 위해 자장면 배달을 하던 한 청년이 좋아하는 여자가 생기면서 이종 격투기 선수로 거듭나게 된다는 것이 극중 스토리. 이는 그대로 유지하되 주인공 직업은 ´이종 격투기´ 대신 ´카레이서´로 설정을 바꾸고 이달 말 촬영에 돌입할 예정이었다.

드라마 한 관계자는 "한 차례 제작 위기를 겪었지만 시청률 대박이 기대될 만큼 시놉이 매우 탄탄하고 흥미로웠다. 외주제작사의 사정이 어렵게 돼 촬영을 눈앞에 두고 제작이 완전 취소됐다"며 "이미 출연을 약속한 배우들도 매우 만족할 만큼 좋은 작품이었는데 묻히게 돼 무척 안타깝다"고 전했다.
