Hey, I can really understand Levi's feeling when Li Ching doesn't believe in God. It will definitely prevent them from being married, eh?

And just in case you want to make them together forever, could you plz make Li Ching 'experience' how great Yakov God is (too much to ask?) coz if she convert just to be able to be together w/ Levi... Well, I don't think she (or Yakov) is that kind of person (ato jd kelewat kesaksian??? ).

Cool

I would rather have levi and li qing ride out to sunset, leaving all their names, nationalities, and beliefs behind.

why would woman have to follow the man's path? how come levi can't leave his tribe and be chinese instead? - devil advocate's thought.

I agree w/ some of your statement. And it's a good thing if they leave their names and nationalities behind.

But since Levi is such a religious man (he was trained to be a priest), I think (I dunno how to explain this) his faith to God has been ingrained in him so much, and it is such a huge part of him (larger than names and nationalities), and by 'removing' him from his belief (or should I say his relationship w/ God) will mean 'amputate' him in some kind. I'm not a Jew, nor a Chinese, but I saw many cases of inter-religion dating, with many ppl claim that a certain religion is easy to be converted, which IMHO is not true. It all depends on how good your relation w/ your God. And since Li Ching have no god (she's not Buddhist, if I'm not mistaken, nor she believes in any higher being, but we should check Andrea abt this), it will be easier if that way. But if Li Ching is a devoted Buddhist, then I dunno how they will solve their problem (and Andrea will have some sleepless night ). I know, coz some of my friends have these kind of probs.

There's no way that woman should follow the man's path!!! That I am very much agree. If the situation is reversed (Li Ching is a religious girl and Yakov has no religion), I also be happy to suggest Yakov to convert to her religion, too.

Phew.... such a long post. Again, NO PUN INTENDED!!!!! After all, it all depends on Andrea.

it would probably depend how andrea looks at love. Levi probably has to choose between love and duty, and li qing has to choose between her nationality and love.

I would presume that li qing is more confusianist. I don't know what its principles say about other religions.

BTW, I think with open mind, both sides can contain their beliefs in true life.

It has a lot to do with certain religion's principle. Some are more strict, while some are more open.

Thumbs up

Guys, thanks for reading my story

I will answer the questions here..

Floo:
Hey, I can really understand Levi's feeling when Li Ching doesn't believe in God. It will definitely prevent them from being married, eh?
So I will answer your question: Levi loves Li Ching, and actually he fell in love with the girl since the first he met the girl. He had a kind of feeling in his heart that Li Ching was a special one for him... the Jewish believes in the concept of 'half piece of soul'. He had a feeling since the first time he met with Li Ching that "this is the girl that God wants me to marry with". Well.. Levi was a religious guy..don't ask me how he could get such kind of feeling...since I don't know either But when later on Levi got to know Li Ching, he knew that Li Ching was an atheist...she's not a Budhist or something... later on my story I intend to put some thought of Li Ching about what she believed in... her point of view towards religion, etc. It should be noted that Budhism was not the main religion at that time. Budhism was flourish during Tang Dynasty, but majority only the peasant and poor people who were Budhist, while the rich and noble family usually had no religion. So Levi couldn't marry Li Ching in any reasons. You are right, that for Levi, his religion is part of his soul and it's better for him to leave anything behind for the sake of his relgion. In Jewish tradition, someone considered to be Jewish (Jewish in this case is a religion, not a tribe) if his/her mother is a Jewish. And if Levi wanted to have his children to be Jewish, his wife should be a Jewish. Unless if Levi didn't want to have any children, then he could marry Li Ching even if she didn't want to convert. But of course Levi wanted to have children, since he had to pass his Levite (priesthood tribes) blood to his children. That is why it will be impossible for Levi to marry Li Ching if she didn't want to convert. On the other hand, both Li Ching and Levi were a very principle persons. Li Ching wouldn't convert if she didn't believe in Levi's God. And Levi wouldn't marry Li Ching just because of love, since an obligation and principle are more important than anything for these persons.

Goofy :
it would probably depend how andrea looks at love
Goofy, you are right... I think I know how to solve Li Ching and Levi problems, although I don't know how to solve my own love problem with a Jewish hehe

Anne : you can always ask me anything. I will be glad if I can answer your questions

Spontaneously Levi and Li Ching released their hugging.

“No. it’s okay!” said Levi.

Li Ching used the cloth on her head to cover her face. She felt embarrassed to be seen by other people when she was being hugged by a man.

Li Ching saw that the man who just came was a Chinese man. He looked like a scholar. He’s about twenty years old and had a handsome face. He also walked and behaved like a gentleman.

“Actually I had a plan to meet my friend here!” said the scholar. “I didn’t mean to disturb you!”

“You didn’t disturb us,” said Levi smiled. “We just passed this city and we decided to spend the night here!” said Levi.

“Where are you from?” asked the scholar politely to Levi.

Levi got information from another Persian merchant that currently some bandits were hunting for Persian merchants who just entered China. That’s why Levi had to lie about where he from.

“I … I come from India,” said Levi.

The scholar smiled. He’s not a stupid and he knew from the man’s costume that he must be a Persian and was not from India.

“My name is Wen Hai Lung,” said the scholar. “It is nice to meet you here. I thought that you were a Persian merchant,” said the scholar again.

“No, I’m not!” said Levi. Inside his heart he had a good impression on this Chinese scholar. But he couldn’t trust the man easily. Who could guarantee that he's not a bandit.

“In case if you meet any Persian merchants, I hope that you pass my message to them. Tell them to take another route to Xi’An since Black Scorpion Sect, and Wong brothers gang are hunting for Persian merchants who are entering China at this moment,” said Hai Lung.

Levi was surprised. “If he’s one of the bandits, he wouldn’t tell me about this!” thought Levi.

“So what is your suggestion to the Persian merchants who are heading to Xi’An then, Mr Wen?” asked Li Ching who still covered her face with her cloth.

“I will suggest them to use another route, passing Gobi desert to enter Xi’An,” said Hai Lung.

“Pardon me, Sir; but you know a lot about bandit gangs who want to hunt the Persian merchants. How can we know that you are not one of them?” asked Li Ching to Hai Lung.

Hai Lung frowned. “Miss, although I’m not a gentleman, yet I’m not a bandit. I got this information from my friend, and I just want to tell you both to be careful. I know that you both are Persian!” said Hai Lung. He was a little bit angry since the girl suspected him as one of the bandit.

Li Ching still wanted to say something, but she got no more energy and she blood vomited until she fainted.

“Li Ching, Li Ching,” yelled Levi. He took Li Ching’s medicament and tried to give that to Li Ching.

Hai Lung was also surprised as he saw the girl suddenly fainted, especially after her cloth covering her hair was opened and he could see that the girl was a Chinese. Hai Lung thought that the girl’s face was familiar to him, but he just couldn’t recall who that girl was.

“Master, I know a little bit about medical, would you let me check her?” asked Hai Lung to Levi.

“Please Master,” said Levi. He didn’t know what to do and he thought that the Chinese man in front of him could be trusted.

Hai Lung checked Li Ching’s wrist to check her heart pulse. He was surprised as he found out that the girl’s condition was very critical.

“A Thousand Flower Palm!” Hai Lung muttered. “How and why Madame Flower hit her this bad?” asked Hai Lung curiously.

Talking

Hello everyone,

It's nice to be known here- Andrea your story is like Chavelet 49. It's gets better and better as time goes by. Each instalment is so exciting. However, I still would like Li Ching to end up with Levi. But of course a menage a trois wouldn't hurt unless we dont get what we want in the end. And then if we dont it's probably a blessing that Andrea doesn't live in my country.....trouble for you my friend

Riddle: Sorry that's not the answer, keep going though because it's a very nice shot indeed. I have also thought of that answer before.

Now as for Li Ching and Levi's different beliefs. It's too interesting not to comment - The way I see it is that the Jewish religion isn't just a cultural identity but it's about who they are as whole. It's their existence and being. And I always see that religion is so different from faith. Religion is a set of rules and guidelines which are set by God and in so may ways men have set them up as a form of tradition rather than really believing these rules are there to help us and direct us to better paths in life. I believe it's not there to make us feel bad or guilty when we dont do all the commandments in every single moment of our lives. I dont mean we shouldn't try but to beat ourselves over it and then having people make judgements on you, well that horrible. Since I believe that's the human way (I mean society) setting the standards of what is good and what is evil and when you have that - there can only be judgement and I believe Mercy triumphs over judgement. Also I believe God is so much more loving and mericful than any human. Unfortunately, even with Christianity - people have taken so many thing out of context and it's saddens me to see the results because many people have a negative view about religion.
However, Faith is very different. Like air, you breath it and you can't see it but you feel the effects of it. And for some unknown reasons you know it's there but you can't really explain it. That why it's so awesome. I'm sorry - I went off into a tangent. Please excuse me. These are my own views and convictions and I'm only sharing my thoughts and it's not my intentiont to enforce my beliefs onto anyone.

Okay back to the story, the only way to resolve Li Ching and Levi problem may I suggest a miracle? Not a big one like parting the Red Sea but perhaps get Levi to pray over Li Ching or something like that and she'll get well
But I know the loopholes there, you might say she'll need to believe in Levi's God first. Oh well, I leave it to the master while this novice hides back into anonymity

But seriously, I actually do have a question for you Andrea. What are the process of becoming a Jewish priest other than being born into the tribe of Levi. For instance, any initation or rules they need to abide to before coming a rabbi or priest? Also, what exactly does a Jewish priest do? I have an idea but I would like your expertise on this subject. Thanks and dont you worry I'll have many more questions to come
Thanks for everything and I talk to everyone very soon.
Regards Anne

Well Anne, actually your suggestion is like Floo suggestion ..that Li Ching need to experience Levi's God in order to make her believe in Levi's God..so in the end they both can end up! Actually I've already make a plot for it...but I can't tell you now... But it will take a long time for Li Ching to believe in Levi's God. Actually I'm now is thinking about how to write a good quality conversation between Levi as a religious man, and Li Ching as an atheist who is using her brain and her sense to know and understand about what Levi called as 'the truth'. It's not an easy job though...I'm almost desperate and stuck on it

For a Jewish man to become a priest (Rabbi), there's some requirement that a man should fulfill. For example: he has to learn all the Torah, Talmud,Shabat observant, etc. He has to be a biblical scholar in every aspect in his life. For Levi's case in my story, he's not determined to become a Rabbi (That's why he has no beard ) although he was expected to become one; but he has an obligation to learn the Torah also, and he has a kind of obligation to pass his Levite gene to his children. I don't know the details of how to become a Rabbi I will try to find out about this and will let you know about this!. The Rabbi daily task is just like the priest in other religion, they have to prepare the service, lead holy day ceremony, etc.

Anyway, I choose the name Levi, since the founder of Kaifeng Synagogue was a Rabbi named Rabbi Levi in 1163

Hai Lung knew that A Thousand Flower Palm couldn’t be cured easily. If someone used inner strength or someone transfer inner strength to the victim who was hit by A Thousand Flowers Palm, then the victim wouldn’t be cured, instead her/his wounded would become more severe and her/his blood stream could reversed and caused damage in all inner organ. It was lucky that Li Ching only once or twice used her inner strength to cure her wound otherwise probably she’s dead already at that time.

“How is she, Master?” asked Levi with worried voice.

“Her wound can’t easily be healed. Only a few people can heal her. One of them is An Chien Siung in Xi’An. But now he’s gone to the capital,” Hai Lung sighed.

“Hey, Li Ching mentioned that name also! What do you mean that he’s gone to the capital now?” asked Levi.

“I mean, he’s not in his house, and we don’t know where to find him!” Hai Lung sighed. He didn’t know these people. But he had a feeling that these two people were not bad peoples.

Suddenly Hai Lung remembered something. He remembered that the girl must be the leprosy girl who fought with Wong Man Li and his friend in the little town near dessert a month ago, and she was hit by Madame Flower. “It must be her!” said Hai Lung.

“Is your wife…is she… is she has a leprosy?” asked Hai Lung carefully didn’t want to offend the Persian young man in front of him.

“She has no leprosy! She just pretended to have one. Believe me! Don’t be afraid to heal her…. Please heal her if you can!” said Levi.

“It’s not that I don’t want to. But it’s not easy and I’m afraid with the risk!” said Hai Lung.

“But you know how to cure her?” asked Levi a little bit pushing Hai Lung.

“I’m not sure,” said Hai Lung. “It’s very risky. If only we can take her to my Teacher……” said Hai Lung.

“Does he live near here?” asked Levi. He become more and more worried with Li Ching after Hai Lung told him that Li Ching couldn’t be healed easily.

“My Teacher always wanders! I don’t know where he is now!” Hai Lung sighed. “I can ask my informers to find out where he is, but I’m worry it will be too late for her!”

Just when they’re talking, Li Ching awakened from her faint.

“Li Ching, are you alright?” asked Levi with caring voice. He held Li Ching’s hand and kissed her hand’s palm. Hai Lung turned his head to another direction since he felt inconvenient seeing that.

“I’m alright,” said Li Ching.

“Pardon me Miss, but are you the leprosy girl who fought Wong Man Siu and his friend, who then was hit by Madame Flower about a month ago?” asked Hai Lung to Li Ching.

Li Ching surprised since the scholar could recognized her. “Yes I am. Who are you, Sir?” asked Li Ching.

Hai Lung smiled, “I’ve mentioned my name. My humble name is Wen Hai Lung. And what are you both names?”

“My name is… Li Ching, and the Persian man is my friend, Levi!” said Li Ching.

Hai Lung frowned. “Friend? So intimate like that and just friends?” thought Hai Lung. He said nothing and just smiled.

“You are badly hurt by Madame Flower. Lucky for you that you didn’t use your inner strength to cure your wound,” said Hai Lung. He explained to Li Ching how A Thousand Flowers Palm could reverse blood stream if someone used inner strength to heal the wound.

“Ah, no wonder I always felt pain whenever I used my inner strength to heal my wound!’ said Li Ching.

Levi didn’t understand what Li Ching and Hai Lung were talking about. He just listened and held Li Ching’s hand.

Li Ching just realized that Hai Lung’s eyes were noticing her hand which was being held by Levi. Slowly she pulled her hand and lowered her head since her cheeks were blushed.

Levi didn’t understand why suddenly Li Ching lowered her head and said nothing, but then he remembered that the scholar was noticing both of them.

“Master, do you have any solution to cure Li Ching’s wound?” asked Levi.

“This man must love this girl so much. He seems to be very worry about her!” thought Hai Lung. “I have an appointment with my friend here in the mean time. I will discuss with him about how to cure your girlfriend!” said Hai Lung. “Meanwhile, let her rest now!” said Hai Lung.

“Oh, okay!” said Levi smiled to Hai Lung. Levi began to like Hai Lung, since that Chinese scholar was very polite, and seemed to be a kind man.

“Let’s go and wait for my friend there,” said Hai Lung. “Let Miss Li rest here.”

“Li Ching, go to sleep and rest here first. I will go down stairs with this kind Master!” said Levi.
Li Ching only nodded and said nothing.

Hai Lung and Levi already in the ground floor and waited for Hai Lung’s friend.

“Master Wen, do you think that your friend can help you to cure Miss Li?” asked Levi to Hai Lung.

“Hiya, no need to be so formal. You can call me Hai Lung,” said Hai Lung smiled. He had a good impression with Levi since he didn’t have a bad prejudice like Li Ching. “And what is your name once again?”

“My name is Yacov Levi, I’m a Yutai from Persia,” said Levi introduced himself.

“Ya Ke Le Wi!” said Hai Lung.

“No, no…. Yacov Levi!”

“Le Vi,” said Hai Lung. “Ah your name is difficult for me to pronounce. I will call you big brother or younger brother! Tell me how old are you?”

“Oh, I’m twenty two. And you?” asked Levi.

“I’m nineteen and will be twenty next month! Then I should call you big brother!” Hai Lung smiled.

“Brother Hai Lung, there’s something I have to tell you!” said Levi with serious voice.

“What is that? Tell me, you don’t have to be so formal with me!” said Hai Lung.

Hey,
I know this sounds very cliche, but great minds think alike

As for your dilemna, yes I see your point but the way I see it is that to explain faith may be well and good but to experience it - now that can be powerful and often where the life transformation begins. Of course, to continue the walk and increase one faiths one must put into practice what we've learnt and believe in. Otherwise, it will be hypocritical.

But honestly, anything will do just as long as they end up together I'm a real sucker for Happy endings. Look forward to your research Andrea.

Cool

I am not against li qing turn religious but feel that would take a lot of romance out of their love life. As I said, I prefer levi and li qing stay together in their own world or separate forever.

It would be hard if you want a realistic situation for her to fit in as a priest's wife anyway even if she converts.

So Hai lung kinds of lose his chance for li qing now. Hope you can find some good girl for him, not that brat wan girl though.

I don't mind brats as long as they don't hurt people. (Like A Tu is DGSD.) They give a boost to interesting characters. Actually, I usually like brats and annoying characters. Since they are the fierce and fiery one.
The only annoying character in my mind is the "perfect" girl character. Nice, Beautiful, kind, strong. I mean, it's not realistic to be too beautiful and too pefect. Like they don't get jealous when the person they like love someone else, they just stand there and let him be taking away without a fight.
I like to see how Hai Lung can help her (Wong Chi Lan) mature in the story.

"Hmm…. I hope that you won’t have a negative feeling to me and Miss Li!” said Levi with low voice. He didn’t know how to tell Hai Lung that he and Li Ching didn’t do something indecent.
“Miss Li is a respectable girl. She and me didn’t do....bad things!” said Levi awkwardly.

Hai Lung could guess what Levi was trying to say. He didn’t want to make Levi more embarrassed.

“Brother, no need to explain! She’s ill, and you just helped her!” said Hai Lung and he clapped Levi’s shoulder and smiled.

Levi smiled back. He felt glad that Hai Lung didn’t think that he and Li Ching do something indecent. They both chatted and after awhile they can get along well.

“Wen Hai Lung, I’m sorry I’m late!” said a man voice. In a flash, a man wearing green robe landed in front of Hai Lung and Levi.

“Master Guo,” said Hai Lung smiled. “Glad you are here!”

“Come on, we just met a few days ago and you’ve missed me?” laughed Guo Sing Li.

“Master Guo, remember when I told you last time about the leprosy girl who fought Wong Man Li in the little town near dessert last time?” asked Hai Lung.

“Yeah! What about her?” asked Guo Sing Li. He looked at Levi from head to toe with suspicious eyes.

“She was hit by Madame Flower and she’s here now!” replied Hai Lung.

“Oh? Really?” said Guo Sing Li.

“Let me introduce you first with my friend, Yacov Levi, a Yutai from Persia,” said Hai Lung.

“Big brother, this is Mr. Guo Sing Li, my friend!” said Hai Lung introduced Guo Sing Li to Levi.

“Nice to meet you Mr. Guo,” said Levi giving a salute with his fist.

“Hmm, nice to meet you, brown hair!” said Guo Sing Li nonchalantly. He always felt suspicious to strangers.

“Mr. Guo, the girl is this man’s girlfriend. She’s upstairs and dying because of A Thousand Flowers Palm. I wonder if you can help her,” said Hai Lung. He hoped that Guo Sing Li would want to help that poor girl. He knew that Guo Sing Li was a weird man, and it’s not easy to ask a favor from a man like him.

“Huh? You want me to use my energy and effort to help someone I don’t know?” asked Guo Sing Li. “Hai Lung, come here!”

Guo Sing Li walked away to the window and Hai Lung walked approached him.

“The day after tomorrow we will go to Wong’s headquarter and you want ‘us’ to help a girl we don’t know who she is?” said Guo Sing Li a bit angry to Hai Lung.

“Master Guo, that girl fought Wong Man Siu and Madame Flower! I think that although she’s not one of my father’s messengers, but at least she has the same purpose with us! She wants to stop the Black Scorpion Sect, Wong brother’s gang and Madame Flower. For whatever reasons she did that, I think we should cooperate with her first! “said Hai Lung. “I’ve talked with this man and the girl. I think that they are honest person!”

“Huh, you always took pity to everyone,” said Guo Sing Li.

Levi knew that Guo Sing Li felt objection to help Li Ching. He didn’t want to beg to that kind of person for himself. But this was for Li Ching, or she would die. Levi had no choice.

“Master Guo, my friend Li Ching is very ill. She really needs help and I hope that you can help her!” said Levi.
“She saved my life once! After you save her, then you can take me as your slave to pay your favor if you want!”

“Ha…ha… Do you think I need a westerner slave huh?” Guo Sing Li snubbed.

Levi frowned, “If only my treasurer was not robbed by bandits last time, then I will surely give all of my treasure for you as long as you can save her!” said Levi.

“He must love that girl so much,” thought Hai Lung. “Master Guo, it’s better for you to talk to Miss Li by yourself. You can judge by yourself whether she’s worth to be saved by you or not!” said Hai Lung. He knew that a person like Guo Sing Li couldn’t be approached by money or anything, since he only wanted to do what he wanted to do.

“Okay!” said Guo Sing Li.

The three men went upstairs the tower to meet Li Ching.

At the same time, Li Ching was still in the third floor of the tower. She couldn’t sleep since she was worried and sad since she knew that her chance to live was very thin. She walked to window and watched the stars and the moon.

Levi, Hai Lung and Guo Sing Li entered the room where Li Ching was. Li Ching turned her head as she heard steps approaching the room.

“Li Ching, you didn’t sleep?” asked Levi who hurriedly approached Li Ching.

At the same time Hai Lung and Guo Sing Li stopped their steps as they saw the girl near the window, with the moonlight shone on her pale face. She looked very beautiful and elegant with her long hair and pretty face.
“I can understand why big brother likes her so much! She’s look like a Goddess Moon on the fairy tales and paintings,” thought Hai Lung.

“Hmm, no wonder you both asked me to cure her!” scoffed Guo Sing Li. “Just curious if you both still want to beg me to save her life is she’s ugly like ghost!”

“Miss Li, this is Mr. Guo Sing Li!” said Hai Lung introduced Guo Sing Li to Li Ching.

Li Ching smiled and lowered her body to respect the man. “I’ve heard a lot about Mr. Guo Sing Li, the Pervert Scholar. My name is Li Ching, nice to meet you, Sir!"

“Hmm, you know me! How come you know me?” asked Guo Sing Li. He began to like Li Ching since she looked nice and didn’t seem to be cunning or annoying.

Li Ching had already be warned by her Kungfu and literature Master not to mentioned who’s her teacher to anyone but An Chien Siung or Minister Wen Chai Fung, that’s why she couldn’t tell Guo Sing Li that she knew Guo Sing Li’s name from her Master, Liu Chin Kang.

“I know you as someone who killed the adulteress Hua Shiao Wen a few years ago. That’s how I become to know your name!” said Li Ching.

“You fought Wong Man Li and his friend, and you were hit by Madame Flower but you’re still alive here! Your kungfu must not weak!” said Guo Sing Li.

“Who is your kungfu master?” asked Guo Sing Li.

“I’ve sworn not to tell my master’s name to anyone. I’m sorry I can’t tell you!” said Li Ching lowered her head.

“Huh! You are so arrogant. Your friends here asked me to heal your wound and I just asked you what’s your teacher’s name and you don’t want to answer!” hissed Guo Sing Li. “You really don’t know any courtesy!”

Guess..how can Li Ching be saved?

Dear Andrea,

About the happy ending - I think I'll be all right. I will still read you fan fiction. Although, if Li Ching doesn't end up with Levi I'm sure there's a reason why. Besides, there are some things that cannot be forced especially when it comes to love. So dont worry I'll have my box of tissues ready when it gets nearer to the end.

None of your charactera annoy me since everyone of them has a part to play in this story. Besides where would life be without challenging people. We might dislike the experience but often they are our greatest teachers. Isn't life great!! Life's full of paradoxes and ironies.

That's it from me. Have a great weekend while I'm off to the snows with my snowboard!! Dont worry I'll be back soon enough to annoy everyone *wicked laugh*

WK, I hope you'll get better. I think we all missed your reign of terror *kekeke* BTW: that's an Ernie laugh
