Sammul Chan? I've only seen him in The Four and Rose Martial World. He was pretty funny in The Four, although there wasn't much focus on him. In Rose Martial World, his character was such a pushover and kept getting henpecked by SFF's Si Ru. I've yet to see him stand out as a charismatic lead (like Gilbert Lam and Wallace Chung, in my very biased opinion, of course). With that said, I think Sammul is a good actor, but he just...lacks the sort of screen presence that captures my attention. He's very boyishly cute, though, but I prefer manly men.

Hey, everyone! I found this MV on tudou with lots of male eye candy, including Wallace Chung, Julian Cheung, Vincent Jiao, and Yuan Hong!

I like Sammul too. Like Mel said, he has a boyish charm and appear nice onscreen. But I haven't seen him in any role that really made him smexy yet .
That is a very well lmade mv. I don't understand what the narrator is saying, but I I see a lot of clips from Red Cliff. All the guys look very good and clips are great quality. Is there a way to download tudou clips like youtube?

Yes, there're nothing wrong with Sammul, so I hope charbydis doesn't take my comments the wrong way. He's cute, very cute. He has that kind of face that looks forever adorable. When I think of Sammul, the word "adorable" or "cute" pops up. On the other hand, when I think of Wallace Chung, I think of the phrase/word "sexy rebel," or using tweety's terminology, "smexy." It's just a different vibe that each actor gives off. Sammul, by the way, reminds of the male version of Vicky Zhao when she was younger. Vicky was always very cutesy back then. Now, I think she has acquired a more mature, feminine look.

Tweety, you can download tudou videos by going to this website. The site is in Chinese, but it's pretty self-explanatory. I don't read Chinese, either, and I navigate around it without problems.
    http://www.flvcd.com/
Copy the URL of the tudou video and paste it in the search box and click "go." It'll take you to another page that has a link for you to click on to download the video. Most tudou videos, however, are in .f4v format, which, I believe, is a high definition format of .flv videos. Therefore, you'll need a flash player that plays .f4v files. I use VLC flash player, which plays .flv and .f4v files. I have an Apple MacBook, so I don't know if VLC is only compatible with Apple computers.

I would translate what they are saying in the MV for you, tweety, but I don't understand much of what they are saying myself. I would really like to know, though. If someone understands the MV, please translate for us, if time permits! Thank you so much!

By the way, I haven't seen Red Cliff yet. I assume it's a pretty good film?

Hey, I just found a site with 14 pages worth of nice Wallace Chung wallpapers/posters. The site is in Vietnamese. I don't read Vietnamese, but the posters are pretty self-explanatory. I just think this might be helpful for Crystal, who hasn't a clue who Wallace Chung is or what he looks like. Crystal seems to like Sit Chung Nam (Wallace Chung in my story), judging from her comments at winglin. I hope this helps her picture what Sit Chung Nam looks like. Plus, tweety reads Vietnamese, right?

Thank you for the link and instructions, Mel. Yes, I can read Vietnamese, but not too well. So if you want anything translated, let me know and I will do my best .

melanie: here's the mp3 of the song: http://www.sendspace.com/file/h4gkw4 it was the themesong of the heroic legend of the yang's family. searched for the song for ages!
here's another video for u. gilbert lam in the mad phoenix. this was indeed one of the most touching series i watched. however, i prefer tse kwan ho's movie and opera version. very touching. never fail to make me cry. anyway here's gilbert: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18ToU3v-m9g&NR=1

tweety: you're welcome! agree with u on vincent being dashing in ancient costume. however, don't u think his makeup as zhan zhao was a bit...er, overdone? hehehe~

Thank you for the song, cherrie. Me likes very much . I watched that series years ago when it first came out. I don't remember too much about the series, but I do remember the love story between Yang Zhong Bo's son and the lost princess. I thought it was very cute and sweet. Too bad she died in the sequel.

ATV should have hired that same guy to play the role of the son in Heroine of the Yang 2. I don't know what they were thinking putting a girl in the role. Her acting was bad too. Then again, aside from giving fans a conclusion to Hou Nam and Pai Fung's relationship, part 2 didn't have much going for it. After they took away Vincent, the fast forward button worked overtime

Yes, agree that Vincent's makeup as Zhan Zhao was quite heavy and made him look rather opera like. I thought his makeup was the worst ever in The Lion's Roar, which he starred with Chen Hao. But it was understandable in TLR, since Chen Hao accidentally hit him on the head during filming and gave him an ugly bruise. Poor guy, I wonder if that was reason for his bad makeup as Zhan Zhao.

Yes, Red Cliff is a very good movie. Action scenes are very well done. But most importantly, Takeshi Kaneshiro is hot, Tony Leung is hot . However, I thought the actress that played Xiao Qiao, Tony's wife in the movie, is not pretty enough for the role of the legendary beauty.

cherrie - Oh goodness! Thank you so much for finding that Heroic Legend of the Yang song! I've been looking for it everywhere! I'm going to be greedy and ask if you also have the theme song for part 2 of Heroic Legend of the Yang? I love that song also.

I haven't seen The Mad Phoenix yet, because somehow, I feel that watching Gilbert Lam cozy up to another actress in the series is somehow being disloyal to Annie Man. Yes, it's silly, but I love the Paifong-Honam pairing so much, that even years later, I still don't want to watch Gilbert with another woman on screen.

tweety - I don't understand, too, why directors cast females in male roles. I know they used to do that in the olden days in Chinese operas, but this is modern times! Men should play men, and women should play women. I thought Crystal Tin was rather annoying as Zhongbao and Guiying's son in Heroine of the Yangs, also. I prefer the guy who played that same character in Heroic Legend of the Yang. I really wonder why they didn't just get a guy to play the grandson in Heroine of the Yangs.

I'll be sure to give Red Cliff a try. I've always found Takeshi Kaneshiro hot ever since I saw him in House of Flying Daggers. But I've never really LOVED Tony Leung, for some reason. I know there are tons of Tony Leung fans out there, and I'll probably get stoned, but I have never really warmed up to him. He's a good actor and usually excels in his roles, but I have just never found him hot. I don't know why... Perhaps, I like taller actors? Have you seen The Grand Canal with Tony Leung and Idy Chan? I can't remember from where or when, but I heard that Tony and Idy couldn't really get along while filming that series, and yet they had good chemistry as a couple on screen. I guess that's a testament to how good their acting skills are...

tweety and cherrie - Aha! Finally, I can speak my mind about Vincent Jiao's makeup! I have never really mentioned it before, since quite a few of my readers like Vincent Jiao and I don't want to tick anyone off. But one main reason why I've never really warmed up to Vincent is because I think he wears way too much makeup. Granted, I've only seen him in Heroine of the Yangs (and I think he has too much makeup in there), but I've seen enough MV's of him circulating around, and most of the time, he looks like he's wearing an inch thick of makeup. The makeup makes him look almost too fair. I prefer a little tan and color and as little makeup as possible on the actors! What was the makeup artist thinking of?!

Speaking of Honam and Paifong, I recently visited Kiko's Heroine of the Yangs site again to look for new MV's and found two new ones that I like. Check them out.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQ_myaP_pmQ
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yj5fYL4md-o
For a more comprehensive list of MV's, check out Kiko's Heroine of the Yangs site here:
    http://www.freewebs.com/kikotsukino/

Well, I told Kiko something at her Heroine of the Yangs site about Legendary Book, so I'll tell everyone here the same thing. The next 1-2 chapters will mostly focus on Sit Chung Nam and Black Rose and the Swords of Sun and Moon, but after that the story will refocus back on Sui Han and the rest of the gang. For those who hope Sui Han will be sweet like her Paifong role, I think you'll be disappointed. So if you have liked Sui Han and Yik Lun's relationship so far, then I hope I won't drive you away with the turn their relationship will take once Sui Han possesses the Sword of Moon. Also, I told tweety this in my email to her, so I'll say it here, too. I am trying to wrap up this story. I won't try to rush the ending, but I'm trying my best to steer the story toward a conclusion. It has been so many years, and I'm sure everyone who has been following the story from the very start in 2002 is exhausted. I'm itching to finish Legendary Book and write another story. I'm thinking of a sequel. I know... You're all thinking of another long-winded sequel and sighing with exasperation. If a sequel does pop up, I promise to shorten it. (Hopefully, my current readers will be interested enough to follow me over to the sequel.) As you all know, I am currently nuts about Wallace Chung, so he'll most likely take a leading role this time, but of course, the story will have one more male lead, and I am still deciding who I should cast as the other male lead. As for female leads, I'm still open to suggestions. I know you all are thinking, "Just finish this story first." But actually, it's not too early to think about a sequel, as I will need to leave loose ends to make room for a sequel as I try to wrap up this current story. Therefore, feel free to send me your thoughts and suggestions about the sequel, whether it may be characters/cast list, plot, or anything. I'm open to any help and suggestions.

Tony Leung's hotness is mainly due to his acting. Not on the same level of physical hotness like Wallace or Vincent, but he's a very versatile and cool performer. I don't swoon over Tony like I do other actors, but I like watching him. Vincent does tend to wear more makeup, not sure why . But it does not take away from his charisma. Kinda like Wallace and curly hair

I do hope Annie will go beserk like Brigitte Lin in Bride With White Hair

Very well put about how Tony's attractiveness lies in his good acting skills! I couldn't pinpoint why I don't mind watching him but never really warmed up to him, and you've nailed it. Thanks! I do agree that Vincent is hot, despite overdone makeup. (BAD makeup artist! BAD!) But if given a choice, I would prefer curly hair rather than too much makeup on men in wuxia. It's true that I don't like Wallace Chung's curly wig in Ni Shui Han, but I actually think he carried it off pretty well and somehow still managed to look masculine, evil, and sexy, despite his bad hair, whereas I've seen other actors look weird or too feminine with curly hair in wuxia. Hey, didn't Vincent have curly hair in some series? What is WRONG with the makeup and hair department??? Can't they at least try to make the actors look manly?

I do hope Annie will go beserk like Brigitte Lin in Bride With White Hair
Hahaha! I don't know why you want Annie to go berserk, but I can promise you she won't be demure anymore. The Seer will be evil, berserk, and hot.

Poor Vincent fans had to endure his curly hair for 2 Dagger Lee series. He was quite convincing as the depressed and alcoholic Li Xun-Huan. I never liked the story of Dagger Lee, so I didn't like the series very much. That said, Vincent was still such a hottie. The wardrobe department made up for the hair department. Vincent's clothes were really nice. Showed off his tall and lean physique .

I want Annie to go beserk because evil characters are

How old is Vincent now, anyway? I haven't seen him around much anymore. I really liked him in his brief role as the Golden Snake Swordsman in the beginning of Sword Stained with Royal Blood. I stopped watching it after Vincent's character disappeared from the storyline.

I agree; evil characters are cool. But I love evil men more than evil women. So if I write a sequel, you can be sure the male leads will be evil.

Vincent's birthday is on 11/7/1967, so he will be 44 later this year, but the man still looks so youthful . I swear, he gets hotter as he ages. Here is a list of his movies: http://chinesemov.com/actors/Vincent%20Jiao.html
I haven't seen his latest series and movies because I'm waiting for the Viet dubbed version

I really liked SSRB. The action scenes were well executed, plus I like Bobby, SFF, and Eva in their respective roles. The plot isn't to my liking, but it's still a good series.

No way! Vincent will be 44 years old! He doesn't look that old. Wow, I thought Wallace Chung is old. I guess Vincent is even older. How come both men look so young despite their actual age?
Hey, thanks for the link to Vincent's series! I guess I didn't realize Vincent has so many wuxia series out. Which ones do you recommend?

Hey! I looked under Wallace Chung's name at that site and it says he's filming a series called The Magic Blade a.k.a. Tian Ya Ming Yue Dao! Isn't that based on a Gu Long novel?! I think it's a sequel or prequel to Bian Cheng Lang Zi. If that information is true, then Wallace is finally doing another martial arts drama again! Yay! I hope they give him a decent hairstyle this time. But I'm sure he'll look hot either way. His female costar is named Lemon Zhang.

Oh! That's the one with SFF playing Princess Chang Ping that I've been hearing about! I think in the novel, Yuan Cheng Zhi only loved Wen Qing Qing, but a lot of the series adaptations have him preferring Princess Chang Ping. Who did he love in the SFF version?

melanie: i agree w/ tweety. watch red cliff. it's very very nice! and the actors are soooo hot! hm, don't worry much about gilbert ending up with another girl. the story's quite sad, so...

i still haven't found the themesong of part 2. will post it here once i have that luck.

Yeah, the stereotype is that Asians don't age, but it's kinda ridiculous at how youthful these celebrities look. But it is a good thing . I recommend watching all his series . There is always something to like hehehe

Well, if you are short on time, I highly recommend The Switch aka Stealing Dragon, Exchanging Phoenix. It's a comedy where he plays a king and is simply hilarious. There are moments where things don't make sense and you have to roll your eyes, but most of the time, I cracked up laughing. You get to see Vincent's great sense of humor and he smiles/laughs A LOT in this series.

To witness Vincent being a villain, Tears In Heaven is a good choice. He costarred with Shui Ling and Athena Chu.

If you want to see him as the dashing hero, check out Shi Gong Qi An and Justice Bao series.

There are 3 editions to the novel. I haven't read the novels, but according to fans who have read them, the first 2 editions YCZ only loved WQQ. In the 3rd edition, Jing Yong changed the story so that YCZ loved the princess more and ended up with WQQ by default. The series followed the 3rd edition, so YCZ appeared to love the princess more, but he claimed to love WQQ. I like both Eva and SFF, so it didn't really matter to me who Bobby ended up with.

Yes, I was also quite sad that she died in the series. It came as a complete surprise to me that she was killed off so early in the show. If not for Joey and Jacky, I would have given up on the sequel.

I think it is more so true for Asian men. I think Wallace Chung is now costarring with actresses more than 10 years his junior, and yet, he still looks compatible with them! Amazing. I'm sure the same situation applies to Vincent Jiao, where his female costars are much younger and yet he looks just as young as the actresses!

I think I'll give Tears in Heaven a try, since I want to see Vincent as a villain. I think that an actor is not truly a great actor until he can play the vilest of villains and still make the audience root for him rather than for the hero. Is Tears in Heaven a wuxia series? Who plays the hero? Can you give me a brief summary of the series?

Who knows? I might fall madly in love with Vincent Jiao after watching Tears in Heaven, and he might end up as one of the male leads (next to Wallace Chung) in my next story. There is still hope for me to redeem myself in tweety's eyes, right?

Hmmm...how come he didn't end up with SFF's Princess? I actually never finished any version of SSRB, mainly because I was always more into the Golden Snake Swordsman subplot rather than the main plot. Therefore, I would always give up after the Golden Snake Swordsman disappeared from the plot.

Yea, I heard The Mad Phoenix ended on a very sad note for Gilbert's character. The story is based on the life of a real opera writer in history, right?
