Wow, that was such a great chapter. So Tak Wah and Yuk Lin have another son? I wonder who he is. There was a lot of action in the last part of the chapter. Who was that man who took Tin Lok and Wsi Sun away? Please update more, I'm dying to know.

Thumbs up

Darnit! I had to open my big mouth (or type it out hehehe) that I would give you a review on your story if you give me one. Especially when your cast is huge! Anyways, one good turn deserves another. Okay, my mui, your wish is my command ^_^.

Characters:
Vincent - Remember I told you how happy I was to find him in your cast way back in the beginning? Well, I know Iíve stated this many times before, but Ė You cruelly murdered my second favorite guy in the story!!! He didnít even go out with a bang, more like a whimper! Oh the horror. This is getting too painful
So needless to say, horrible move! Definitely need to bring him back into the plot . I know you will find a way, oh Miss Mel, great writer!

Gilbert Ė The hero. I find him to be a very endearing character. Especially since he is so romantic and sweet to Annie. I really like the scenes with them together. I can find no faults with him since he is portrayed as the goody-goody hero. However, Iím more attracted to the dangerous, cold, yet deep down have a good heart kinda guy. Of course, Gilbertís character has good looks, intelligence, great martial arts, and a loving family, but that doesnít really make him stick in my mind. I guess Iím more attracted to the bad guy turned good at the end like in Heroine of the Yangs. Hehehehe. Maybe you could try to spice things up by making him side with the evil force for a good cause? I donít know. This is just my opinion, so you donít have to listen to me. Iím sure your other readers love Gilbert!

Annie Ė Iím a big fan of Annie Man, so great decision in placing her in the cast . Sheís cute, smart, and lovable. I really like her in this story and find it very humorous that she has no clue regarding Gilbertís profound love for her. Based on their personalities in the story, they really match as a couple. Sheís not evil, but sheís helping the wrong side. Hmmm, you havenít delved deep enough into her background for me to comment much on her character. So many secrets, Mel! Need to reveal more info.

Louis Ė My favorite actor (next to Bae Yong Joon), but sadly he is not the hero of this story. I dun like it that heís also in love with Annie (who I have a hunch will end up with Gilbert). Oddly, I like his character the most so far. Not good, but not exactly evil because heís only following orders from his father and assumed Gilbertís family is evil. Since there are so many characters, I donít have a solid understanding of his personality yet, except that he can be extremely jealous. I find that very sweet though. Maybe you could complicate the plot by letting him find out that his father is evil and that heís caught in between doing what is right and siding with his family? Just a thought.

Gigi Ė It would be very fitting if you could hook her up with Louis. Sheís funny and lively and I especially like the fact that she often acts childish. Louis will certainly have a very entertaining life with her. He needs that extra silliness in his life.

Ekin Ė another favorite actor of mine. Heís sooooo cool in here. Even though he only came out in a couple of scenes, I really like his character. He seems to have a sense of humor and to top that off, great martial arts! Please donít make him that calm, silent type that heís been playing in almost all his series/movies.

Kristy Ė Ekin and Kristy would make a wonderful couple. Not much focused on her so far, so no comments. However, the blind part was a great idea. Make her depend on him for support, both physical and emotionally.

Benny Ė You do know that I donít regard him too highly as an actor, right? His looks = average, his acting = average. I never liked Benny and no matter how great he is portrayed in a story, my mind is set. Yes, I am very biased. Donít send hate mails, people! Anyways, you havenít really focused on him and I can only hope that he will be a minor character. If he gets killed in the end, eh, even better.

Frankie Ė He is a very versatile actor, but I have an indifferent attitude toward the guy. Plus you havenít really focused on him much.

Andy and Idy Ė one of my favorite onscreen couples. However, I find it difficult to believe that she can still look good after having so many children. Is it 4 or 5? Maybe one of the children is adopted? Anyways, please remember to focus more on them

Ada & Steven Ė Forget about Steven. Kill him off if you need to. I want Ada to be with Vincent. I donít care if Vincent is a minor character.

I love the fact that there are so many hidden agendas in the plot. Sure keeps readers guessing. Oh, your descriptions of the fight scenes are so detailed that I can literally see all the intricate moves. Good job! Contrary to what you said, itís not boring at all. You have a wonderful vocabulary and it sure is a treat to read your story. I know English is a second language for many writers, but I get distracted as well as annoyed when I have to read bad grammar and poorly scripted paragraphs. A good story needs to be well written in order to keep my attention, so even if there is an excellent plot, I still tend to lose interest quite quickly. That goes to show that your story is a good one. Just keep updating.

Are you happy now? I think my fingers are starting to cramp up! So will stop for now.

CHAPTER 20 --- THE SWITCH

Characters appearing in this chapter:
Ada Choi Siu Fun---Lok Bing Yee
Ray Lui Leung Wai---Lok Koon Lam
Angie Chiu Ngar Chi---Chung So Lan
Annie Man Chung Han---So Sui Han
Gigi Lai Chi---Lam Chi Chi
Benny Chan Ho Man---Koo Yat Keung
Helena Law Lan---Grandmother Fa

CITY OF LAM ON
AT THE LOK MANSION
IN LOK BING YEE'S CHAMBERS

The late afternoon sunlight pools onto the polished wooden floor of Lok Bing Yee's chambers, giving the wood a sparkling, pale golden finish. Sitting by the table near the open window, Bing Yee concentrates on her sewing, humming softly to herself, as she makes each stitch with loving care. Smiling happily, Bing Yee gently strokes the soft fabric of the cloak she is making for Lun, wondering if he is thinking about her as she thinks of him. She hopes that he returns soon so that she could spend more time with him. Hopefully, he will ask her to marry him, she thinks to herself, blushing shyly at the thought. Embarrassed at her bold thoughts, she quickly lowers her head and clumsily stabs at the fabric with her needle, flustered and a little shocked at herself. Not paying attention to her needle, she accidentally pricks herself.

Softly yelping more from surprise than from pain, she drops the half-finished cloak onto her lap and examines her finger. A drop of blood oozes from the puncture wound and plops onto the white fabric, slowly spreading into an oval red spot, marring the cloak's snowy perfection. Ignoring her pricked finger, Bing Yee looks down at the red splotch, her heart skipping a beat, a strange feeling of unease flooding through her.

Bing Yee touches the corner of the red blood stain uneasily as she shakes her head slightly. "Could it be that Big Brother Yik Lun is in danger? Is this why I suddenly feel so unsettled?"

Placing the unfinished cloak on the tabletop, she gets up and paces the room, her hands clasped together in worry. Suddenly, she halts near a chair, chuckling softly to herself before dropping down into the seat.

Bing Yee smiles slightly as she admonishes herself. "Bing Yee! You are just being overly paranoid!"

But the image of the bright red spot staining the pristine white fabric, like an open wound on flesh, refuses to leave her mind. Finally, unable to stand this uncertainty regarding Lun's safety, Bing Yee gets up determinedly from her seat. After quickly penning a note to her parents explaining her whereabouts, she hurries over to her bureau to throw a few pieces of clothing into a travel sack. Intending to leave before nightfall, she quickly secures the knot on the sack tightly, rushes over to the door, and throws it open…just in time to collide into her father.

Lok Koon Lam reaches out his hands to steady his daughter, chuckling at her amusingly "Bing Yee, careful there."

His eyes lose their amusing twinkle as he notices the travel sack slung over his daughter's shoulder. Immediately, he exchanges a worried look with his wife, who stands a few steps behind him, carrying a tray of sweet desserts in her hands.

Lok Koon Lam steps into Bing Yee's room, as he forces himself to speak calmly. "What's going on, Bing Yee? Why are you carrying a travel bag?"

Bing Yee's mother, Chung So Lan, looks at her daughter questioningly as she walks around her husband to set the tray on the table. Walking up to her daughter, So Lan places a hand lightly on Bing Yee's shoulder, giving her an encouraging look. Guiltily avoiding her mother's soft look and her father's piercing one, Bing Yee stares at the floor uncomfortably.

So Lan reaches over to turn her daughter around so that they face each other directly. "Tell us what's wrong, honey."

Beginning to feel rather agitated that his obedient daughter would try to run away from home, Koon Lam interrupts his wife's gentle questions.

Koon Lam demands in a slightly raised voice. "Yes, what in the world is going on here???"

Upon receiving no answer, he paces the floor in exasperation. Passing by the table, he notices the letter Bing Yee has left for him and So Lan. Grabbing the sheet of parchment, he quickly scans the words, his eyes narrowing in disbelief with each line he reads. Crumbling the note into a ball before throwing it back onto the table, Koon Lam turns toward his daughter, his lips set into a grim line.

Koon Lam objects to his daughter's actions, his voice stern. "The answer is no. You don’t know one bit of kung fu. Do you realize how dangerous it is out there for a young woman traveling alone?"

Shrinking away slightly from her father's raised voice, Bing Yee shifts a little closer to her mother, her eyes downcast.

So Lan throws her husband a warning look, silently telling him to let her handle this situation. Catching his wife's look, Koon Lam sighs and turns toward the window, shaking his head in disbelief. Frowning a little at her husband's hot temper, she unfolds the wrinkled note that her husband has thrown onto the table. Her expression remains serene after scanning the contents of the letter. Turning her attention back to Bing Yee, So Lan smiles gently as she leads her daughter over to the bed.

So Lan sits down on the bed before she pulls Bing Yee down with her and turns to face her shame-faced daughter. "Sweetheart, I understand that you are worried about Yik Lun's safety, but it is not safe for a refined lady like you to be traveling alone."

Seeing Bing Yee open her mouth to object, So Lan raises her hand to stop her daughter's words.

So Lan speaks in a gentle but firm voice. "Bing Yee, your father and I know that you miss Yik Lun very much and want to be with him. But his martial arts skills are excellent and more than adequate to protect himself from danger. You, on the other hand, don't know any martial arts at all. How will you protect yourself when you encounter danger?"

Bing Yee looks at her mother with a pleading expression. "Mother, I can take care of myself, and I promise to be careful!"

Bing Yee clasps her mother's hand earnestly in her own hands. Seeing her mother begin to shake her head, she rushes over to her father and tugs pleadingly on his arm.

Koon Lam sighs as he sees his daughter's pleading expression. "No, Bing Yee, it is too dangerous. This is for your own good."

Walking over to her husband and her daughter, So Lan takes hold of Bing Yee's hand, her eyes filled with gentle understanding.

So Lan smiles teasingly at her daughter, trying to coax a smile to Bing Yee's glum face. "Bing Yee, your father and I like Yik Lun very much. We admire his morals and feel that he has the potential to become a very loving husband to you. We promise to delicately hint at the subject of marriage to his parents once Yik Lun returns home." She playfully brushes aside her daughter's bangs. "Once you two are married, you won't have to be separated from him ever again."

Bing Yee blushes furiously, her eyes downcast. She smiles bashfully. "You are laughing at me again, mother."

So Lan chuckles at her daughter's beet red complexion. "My silly daughter! You are a woman now. It is time we find you a husband to look after you."

Koon Lam clears his throat. "Yes, just be patient for now, Bing Yee. You will see Yik Lun again soon. I am sure he is safe right now."

Seeing her parents about to take their leave, Bing Yee hurriedly speaks up in a worried voice. Bing Yee hangs onto her mother's hand. "But I am still worried about Big Brother Yik Lun's safety. I just have this unsettled feeling…"

So Lan pats Bing Yee's hand reassuringly. "Don't be silly. You probably just miss him too much and started to imagine things." She gestures to the tray of food on the table. "Why don't you try some of the sweet desserts I made today and then get some rest. You will feel much better in the morning."

After her parents have left her room, Bing Yee settles herself onto the chair next to the table. Frowning a little, she picks up a piece of the dessert and chews on it absentmindedly, her thoughts drifting back to the red spot of blood on the cloak she is making for Lun. Worrying that her feeling of unease could be a bad omen, she smoothes out her crumpled note and stares at it thoughtfully, plotting to sneak out of Lok Mansion to search for Lun…

BACK AT THE GOLDEN PHOENIX INN
IN THE ROOM SHARED BY LUN AND SUI HAN

Sui Han ushers Chi Chi into the room and quickly closes the door to assure privacy. Staring at Lun's travel sack thrown onto the bed, Chi Chi rushes over to the bed to examine it more closely. Riffling nosily through its contents to confirm that the travel bag indeed belongs to her brother, Chi Chi hurries back over to Sui Han with a questioning look on her face.

Chi Chi gasps, her eyes wide with wonder. "Sui Han, you mean you and Eldest Brother have been staying here in the same inn as me all this time?"

Sui Han smiles, nodding her head. "Yes! Yes! And he will make sure that you return home safely."

Chi Chi grins widely at the thought of asking her big brother to beat those Sun Moon Sect members to a pulp for her as revenge for daring to capture her. Satisfied that she is safe with Lun around, she hurries over to the bed and plops down onto it, intending to sleep for a few hours since she did not get any rest the night before.

Sui Han rushes over to Chi Chi and tugs urgently at her arm. "Fourth Young Mistress! You can't sleep now! We have to leave this room now or the Sun Moon Sect members will recapture you once they return!"

Upon hearing this, Chi Chi lifts her head slightly off the pillow and pops open one eye as she squints at Sui Han in confusion. Puzzled, Chi Chi stares blanky at Sui Han. "Huh? But we don't have to worry about anything now that Eldest Brother is here." Rolling over and hugging the blanket tightly to herself, she snuggles down and begins to doze off again. Chi Chi mutters sleepily to Sui Han, her eyes closed. "You should get some rest, too, Sui Han. When Eldest Brother gets back, he'll want to start traveling again, and we'll end up walking for miles without a drop of water or a bit of sleep."

Pouting a little in her sleep, Chi Chi flips the blanket over her head to block out the fading late afternoon sunrays. Sighing with exasperation, Sui Han yanks off Chi Chi's blanket and tugs urgently on Chi Chi's arm. Seeing Chi Chi's unconcerned attitude, Sui Han hops up and down a little, agitated. "That's the problem! I don't know where First Young Master went! He left this afternoon to buy some sweets and never came back. Since we have no idea when he will return, we have to temporarily hide from the Sun Moon Sect until First Young Master returns."

Dragging Chi Chi off the bed, Sui Han turns around and rummages through Lun's travel sack. Glancing back and noticing that Chi Chi has fallen back onto the bed, Sui Han runs over and steals her blanket away from her, wanting her to wake up immediately. Sui Han does not want Chi Chi to be recaptured, because she is not sure what her godfather will do to Chi Chi. In addition, she wishes to avoid running into Fei while Chi Chi is with her, because she does not want to be put in a position where she will have to choose sides.

Shivering slightly, Chi Chi sits up and pouts at Sui Han. Chi Chi whines, mildly peeved. "I bet Eldest Brother will be back shortly. We should just stay here and wait for him."

Sui Han shakes her head. "But I waited for hours for him and he still hasn't returned. I don't know what happened to him…" Sui Han sighs, wondering if Lun is all right. Quickly returning her thoughts to the present situation, she digs out one of Lun's gowns and hands it to Chi Chi. "Fourth Young Mistress, here, put this on. Everyone will think that you are a man if they don't examine you too closely. I will wear your set of clothing and run in the opposite direction. If someone sees us, they will assume I am you from my clothing and chase after me instead."

Horrified at the thought of putting Sui Han in danger, Chi Chi holds onto her Eldest Brother's clothes while shaking her head vehemently. "No, Sui Han! I can't let you impersonate me! You will be in danger. Who knows what those Sun Moon Sect members will do if they capture you!"

Sui Han grins mischievously. "Don't worry. I won't get caught that easily. Now hurry and change."

TEN MINUTES LATER…

Both young women have changed into their respective gowns, Chi Chi in Lun's male attire and Sui Han in Chi Chi's outfit. Fashioning her hair into the style Chi Chi is wearing, Sui Han braids the side portions of her hair and then coils the braids into half-loops at the side of her head before securing them with Chi Chi's multi-colored hair ribbons. Chi Chi, on the other hand, quickly fashions her locks into a male hairstyle, securing her hair with a white cloth to complement her white robe.

As Chi Chi is about to rush out the door, Sui Han chases after her and hands her Lun's fan. Sui Han goes over the plan as Chi Chi sticks the closed fan into the sash at her waist. "Let's meet back here in two hours. First Young Master may be back by then and the Sun Moon Sect members are not likely to stay here once they find you missing."

Chi Chi nods. "Good luck, Sui Han, and be careful. I will leave first."
Opening the door a crack, Chi Chi peeks out into the hallway to make sure there are no Sun Moon Sect members milling around. Finding the hall empty, she tiptoes out and starts to walk down the staircase, trying to act casual and nonchalant. Midway down the stairs, Chi Chi almost trips as she encounters Grandmother Fa coming up the stairs with a few packets of breakfast in her hands.

Flipping open her brother's fan expertly, Chi Chi casually fans herself. As she comes shoulder to shoulder with Grandmother Fa, she tilts her head slightly toward Grandmother Fa and politely nods at her captor. Barely noticing Chi Chi, Grandmother Fa gives her an absentminded look before proceeding up the stairs to her room, eager to eat her breakfast.
As her captor passes, Chi Chi breathes a sigh of relief and quickly descends the rest of the stairs and hurries out the front entrance of the inn.

While Chi Chi slips out the entrance, Keung stands at the innkeeper's desk with his back turned toward the front entrance, as he asks the clerk if he has any messages.

MEANWHILE…
BACK UPSTAIRS IN THE INN ROOM SHARED BY SUI HAN AND YIK LUN

After leaving a note for Lun in case he returns and wonders where she is, Sui Han then quietly opens the door and peeks out cautiously. Seeing nobody in the hallway, she unobtrusively leaves the room and darts down the stairs. Unfortunately, at that exact moment, Grandmother Fa, who has just discovered Chi Chi missing, drops the breakfast packets in her haste and rushes out into the hallway, just in time to catch a glimpse of Sui Han's retreating back. Immediately assuming that Sui Han is Chi Chi, Grandmother Fa runs after her...

fanfan: Hi! I'm so glad you're still reading. It sounds like you are a big fan of Margie Tsang Wah Sin and Sean Lau Ching Wan! Yup, I love them too! I think they appeared as a couple at the beginning of The Dragon Sword. I am watching a bit of Grand Canal right now, and I just love them! I actually like them more than the main couple (Idy and Tony), just because Margie and Sean look so cute together. I may want to bring them back for another guest appearance, but I will have to think about how to work them into the plot again. Yup, the guy who rescued Gilbert and Louis is Felix. Right now, I bet everyone is wondering what happened to those three.

Okay, I'm posting my comments, so don't complain to me that I'm not posting enough. This is my proof. As always, wonderful work.

I would like to say that I'm a major fan of Tony and Margie. Love them in The Police Cadet II (1985) and The Yang's Saga. If you haven't watched these two series, you're missing out on something great. I never really liked Sean, no offense to any fans of his. I do think he's a talented actor though.

Oh yeah, please, pleassssssse, hook Ada with Vincent. I'm fine with this couple having minor roles as long as they are together.

CHAPTER 21 --- EYES OF FURY

Characters appearing in this chapter:
Annie Man Chung Han---So Sui Han
Benny Chan Ho Man---Koo Yat Keung
Helena Law Lan---Grandmother Fa

IN THE LOBBY OF THE GOLDEN PHOENIX INN

Just when Sui Han is about to breathe a sigh of relief for successfully leaving the inn without being caught by Sun Moon Sect members, she suddenly hears the sound of footsteps pounding urgently on the wooden planks of the stairs behind her. Shifting her head slightly to peek behind her, she sees an elderly woman stampede down the steps, heading straight at her. Quickly, she dodges a group of inn guests chatting near the entrance and darts out the door.

Leaping down the last few steps, Grandmother Fa tries to see beyond the large group of guests blocking the doorway, but Sui Han has already vanished into the rapidly darkening night.

At the innkeeper's desk, Keung turns around upon hearing loud, pounding footsteps, curious as to what that commotion is. Catching sight of Grandmother Fa frantically scanning the lobby, Keung pushes through the crowded area, reaching her in a matter of seconds.

Keung grabs Grandmother Fa's arm to get her attention. "Grandmother Fa, what is going on?" He looks in the direction of the doorway also, hoping to see what she is so interested in.

Grandmother Fa replies breathlessly. "Second Young Master! Lam Chi Chi has escaped!"

Keung asks in a raised voice as he looks at his subordinate in disbelief. "What?! How did this happen? I thought you were keeping an eye on her while I was out buying breakfast!"

The old woman lowers her eyes guiltily. "I was, but you took so long that I decided to go find you and help you out. First Young Master wasn’t in his room when I knocked on his door to ask for permission, so I decided to quickly leave for a few minutes. Lam Chi Chi was securely tied up, so I didn't think she would be able to take off!"

Eager to make amends for her mistake, Grandmother Fa gestures in the direction of the main entrance of the inn. Grandmother Fa points urgently toward the street. "Second Young Master, we can still see if we can recapture her! I just saw her run out a few minutes ago!"

Keung rushes to the door, dragging Grandmother Fa with him. As he hurries out the door, he glances in both directions, hoping to catch a glimpse of Lam Chi Chi. Seeing no trail left behind, he looks at Grandmother Fa and gestures toward the right.

Keung points wildly to the old woman. "Grandmother Fa, you search the east side of town. I will look on the west side. Meet back here in two hours."

Both rush off in their respective directions, each silently hoping to find Lam Chi Chi before Koo Yat Fei finds out that they have lost their hostage.

THAT SAME EVENING
ONE HOUR LATER…
NEAR THE EDGE OF THE FOREST IN THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE CITY OF HOI YEUNG

Sui Han wanders around near the edge of the forest, unaware that just hours before, Lun and Fei battled here with each other and later with a mysterious group of assassins. Unfamiliar with the roads and various paths, Sui Han looks around her in confusion, trying desperately to locate her way back to the Golden Phoenix Inn in the blackness of the night.

A gust of wind whips the dried, fallen leaves on the ground into a miniature tornado, stirring up the sand particles covering the dirt path. Dark clouds loom ominously in the sky and block out the faint luminescent moonrays, their presence a threatening reminder that a thunderstorm is fast approaching. As if on cue, the distant rumble of thunder echoes through the heavens, like the angry grumbles of a heavenly warlord.

Shivering a little, Sui Han crosses her arms across her chest, trying to ward off the night chill, as she scans her surroundings nervously. In the background, a symphony of squeaks and chirps emitted by crickets accentuates the eerie stillness of the woodland, causing Sui Han's heart to involuntarily thump anxiously along with each chirp.

A fox suddenly dashes out from a nearby bush and runs across Sui Han's path, only to immediately disappear into the leafy depths of another bush. Squealing a little from the surprise, Sui Han stares blankly at the bush into which the fox has vanished, her hands clutched tightly close to her heart. Paralyzed momentarily from shock and increasing fear of the woods at night, Sui Han stands rooted to the ground, her eyes frantically darting from one dark corner of the forest to the other.

The winds pick up speed, howling like mythical sirens luring men to their death at sea. From the heavens, the first drops of rain plop loudly onto the forest grounds, saturating the soil within a matter of minutes, attacking the earth relentlessly. In the distance, lightning blazes across the sky, bathing the forest in an otherworldly light. All around, tree branches wave ferociously in the storm, like ghostly arms clawing their way into the land of the living to snatch unsuspecting souls.

Drenched, Sui Han hides under a thick grove of trees, seeking shelter from the elements as she peeks into the expanse of darkness nervously, her teeth clattering uncontrollably from anxiety and cold.

Suddenly, in the distance, ten men, all clad in black with the bottom half of their faces covered, race into the woodland, their rapid footsteps almost soundless as they glide over the soggy earth, thus indicating their high level of inner strength. Their black attire makes them almost indistinguishable against the backdrop of the dark night. Lightning again streaks across the stormy sky, bringing Sui Han's attention to their dangerously sharp sword blades glinting in the darkness. She also notices that one of the men stands out from the other nine, because he wears a red sash around his waist, denoting his leader status. Huddling deeper into the shelter of thick leaves, Sui Han quietly observes the group of men.

Leading the group, the leader in black with the red waist sash, the one who attacked Lun and Fei earlier, stabs his sword downward into the soft, moist earth before kneeling down, his hands clasped together in a gesture of respect. The other nine men follow his actions.

The leader speaks up, addressing an unseen person. Looking up toward the dark heavens, his eyes survey the area, waiting for his master to appear. "Master, we have arrived."

A voice, calm and cultured, echoes throughout the forest, its sound ringing clearly despite the loud pattering of rain and the roar of thunder. "Have you accomplished your mission?"

The leader hesitates nervously. "Master, we almost killed them, but an unknown man rescued them at the last minute…"

Cutting his subordinate's explanations off abruptly, the Master roars in anger. "You fools! I sent out nearly fifty men to kill two men, and you fail to bring me their heads?"

The leader of the assassins gulps nervously before addressing the Master again. "Master, although we haven't killed Lam Yik Lun and Koo Yat Fei, we have seriously wounded them. In addition, even if they don't die from the wounds, they will never survive the poison they inhaled during the attack."

A deadly silence follows this explanation. The sound of raindrops pattering on the leaves grows deafeningly loud, as the men in black, drenched with hearts pounding in their ears, await their master's words.

The Master finally speaks, his tone dangerously calm and quiet. "I want you to bring their bodies to me in ten days. If not, you can all plan for your own deaths."

In a relieved voice, the leader promises rashly, glad that his life has been spared momentarily. "Yes, Master. We will see to this immediately."

Satisfied that this matter has been settled, the Master inquires casually, "Have you brought me any more babies?"

The leader replies quickly, eager to please his Master. "Yes. We have found a child in the city of Hoi Yeung with the specific birth date and birth time that you want, Master."

The leader claps his hand twice. One of the assassins stands up and approaches the leader. As he walks forward, he flips open his dark cloak, revealing a sleeping infant in the crock of his arm. Suddenly thrust out into the wet and cold without the protection of the warm cloak, the infant awakens, squirming fussily, waving his tiny chubby arms in the air and screaming at the top of his lungs.

As the leader raises his hand, ready to deliver a deathblow to the defenseless child, Sui Han looks on in horror from her hiding place in the grove of trees. Her eyes stare sightlessly ahead, her breaths coming in short, agitated spurts, as she suddenly and involuntarily sees images from long ago, from a time five-hundred years past when another baby boy struggles helplessly against an enemy…

Flooded with images of bloodshed from the past, Sui Han screams a sound filled with such pain that it reverberates heartbreakingly throughout the woodland. She suddenly flies out from her hiding place, her mind still trapped in the past, as she heads straight toward the man holding the child.
The assassin reaches up to meet her oncoming palms. Taking him by surprise, Sui Han sends him crashing backward, causing him to lose his hold on the baby. Somersaulting into the air, Sui Han reaches up and catches the infant, hugging him protectively against her chest. From below, the other nine men in black rush toward her, swords raised in attack.

In counterattack, she sends a flurry of needles shooting toward the assassins, hitting several in the eyes. Screaming in agony, the injured men clutch at their blinded eyes, as they roll on the ground in pain. The leader in the red waist sash charges at Sui Han, his sword thrusting straight at her throat.

Twisting sideways in air, Sui Han kicks at the oncoming sword, thereby deflecting the blow. Previously injured by the gentleman at the tea stand during the ambush on Lun and Fei, the already injured leader falls backward now from Sui Han's attack. Grabbing a handful of dirt, Sui Han flings it at the rest of the men charging toward her, temporarily distracting them and thus creating an opening for escape.

Grasping this escape opportunity, Sui Han races up a tree trunk, the baby screaming in her arms. Unfortunately, a powerful force pulls her back down to the ground. Turning around, she catches a glimpse of a white figure - the Master - flying toward her at lightening speed, before she is knocked backward. The Master then immediately vanishes from sight again. Losing her grip on the child, Sui Han screams in pain as she crashes into a large rock, hitting the back of her head against the sharp jagged edges. Her vision hazy from the injury, Sui Han watches in horror as the baby tosses and turns like a rag doll in the air before crashing to his death.

Shrieking in fury, Sui Han begins to tremble uncontrollably, as if an unknown force has taken over her body. Intending to finish her off, the leader with the red sash flies straight toward her. As the leader draws near, Sui Han whips her head around and stares at him, her eyes dilating into huge pools of swirling fire glowing brilliantly in the dark. This inhuman and deathly light stops the leader in his tracks. In his one moment of hesitation, Sui Han focuses her eyes on his, her eyes emitting a strange and otherworldly energy. Within seconds, the leader drops onto the ground, his hands covering his face, as he hollers in agony, his eyes burning as if a thousand knives have pierced his eyeballs.

From the depths of the forest, the Master (the figure in white) watches this scene in horrified shock.

Petrified, the Master whispers. "The Seer… She is the Seer…"
