BTW i agree with u. GYY is a unique character in a way, unlike many other actresses. Im guessing that she's probably a pretty stuborn and head-strong person in realife since she doesnt allow fame to get to her head. Her ex, ZYD also said before that GYY is a very strong, independent and decisive girl.

Ah well...so it looks like I got all excited over nothing. The Ang Lee film looked an opportunity for GYY to sort of reprise & update her ZZR role, but on the big screen. Still, good news about 'Harmonica', and an interesting claim by GYY that she values "he zuo de gan jue" ("collaborative chemistry"?). Does this mean that she enjoys such chemistry with the low-rent likes of Jingle Ma and Jackie Chan?

Absolutely. I actually think GYY should follow the path of Zhou Xun in 'specialising' in interesting & challenging roles in fairly arty, sophisticated movies. This suits her acting style and also enables her to have a long career. Relying on cuteness & sheer likeability just exposes you to being out-cuted by the next generation of cuties, like what happened to patron-saint-of-cutesy-overacting Alyssa. (That and getting pregnant, of course.)

It might be pretty easy to rally votes for HK/Taiwanese actresses since most of them have several unofficial websites and forums where other fans hang out. It's more difficult to rally fans for mainland actresses since most of their sites/forums are in chinese, set up by mainland fans who do not understand English. Even if u ask me to rally votes for GYY, i would not know where to go. Mainland stars like her are normally not popular in English forums like Asiafanatics etc.
