Hey there you guys!!! Gosh, soooo many replies and more members coming in!!! Thats great Hehe, welcome Lingz and Arashi!!! Glad you two have popped in to talk, even if its the conversation that attracted you and not Benny.... *coughs....Arashi....coughs* Hehe, also welcome rachellam So your new to this forum? Welcome to the forum also and enjoy browsing around!!!

There is a Joyce Chen thread in the actresses forum, but no picture of her. Joyce is most known for her role in Virtues of Harmony as the youngest sibling in the three. (Frankie Lam and Micheal Tse) Anyways she was also in Anti-Crime Squad hehe, let me see if I can spark any memory of her for you Lingz. In JTTW2 she played as the little green bird that fell in love with Benny's monkey king. She was also the niece of Kingdom Yuen who was the crow.

Now on to Fennie in Heartstrings. Yeah, I think she was shot and the injury was very severe so her life was already hanging on a thin string. So since she knew she would die, she wanted to donate her heart to Gigi. Aaron did love them both, but at seperate times. He loved Fennie in the beginning of the serial, but once they broke up, he was devoted fully to Gigi. Yeah, Fennie was a bit unreasonable in here, yet in the end you've got to pity her.

I like Joyce Chen as a pairing to Benny. I thought they were really cute in JTTW2, but it was a shame that they didn't end up togehter. So in Dark Tales 2, I was really excited that htye were in both stories together and had a very happy ending in the first one!!! Also they were in Anti-Crime Squad together. I didn't mind them not having anythig in there since they didn't really match characterwise

Yup, I just love Benny as Duan Yu!!!! His debut serial and he did so extraordinary in it that I don't think anyone will forget his performance!!! Hehe, his Na Zha was nicely done too. Would agree with you Lingz that he was better in the last part. In the beginning he was just too childish and thought he knew everything, sorta hot headed also. But if he wasn't that then we woudln't see such a development characterwise *Oh yes, did you guys know that Joyce Chen is dating John Tang or somthing. Forgot his last name, but he is her pair in VOH and he was in Gods of Honour as Benny's oldest brother*

You know, I don't really care for the whole Benny and Charmaine thing anymore. True or not, not paying attention. If they want to admit or keep "hidding" it then fine. axt, I think that what its meant that it might give their carreers a negative influence is that many fans of both or neither might start disliking them because of the other. Like me, if this was true then I would feel a bit less into Benny since knowing he is dating Charmaine.

hey rachellam Lol, yeah this is the Benny thread, but we sorta got carried away with some sub-conversations. Getting back to Benny though, hehe. Yeah, he isn't doing any TVB dramas at the moment. Won't be filming one till next year right? He's in Taiwan doing serials.... Anyways he was Duan Yu in the 96 version, just in case you need to know. Yeah, watching the newest DGSD version also..... Not too into it yet, but we'll see, hehe.

Gosh, such a long reply!!! I gotta come in here everyday now!!!!! hehe, hope to hear from you guys all soon!!!

o i think wat they meant by 'negative influences' is if they really did come out IF they were a couple then the paparazzi will be hounding them...n they wont hav privacy[if they even have any]...n of course maybe some ppl will dislike benny if they find out he is dating charmaine n vice versa.....u noe entertainment.....hehehhe

btw is it true that benny is doing more taiwanese serials now????i'll miss him!!!!!!!

Hi everyone! It has been very lively in here lately. That's nice.

I totally agree that Fennie is good in Revelation of the Last Heroes. Yes, it does seem that as she grows thinner, her acting deteriorates too. To botan (oh yes, your change of nickname sent me into momentary confusion too. ), by chance, I actually got to watch Dragon Love now. Remember I said that this serial was shown here before but I missed the opportunity to watch it? It turned out that my mother's friend have the VCDs and so I borrowed them. After watching 10 episodes of it, I do agree that Fennie is indeed much bearable in here compared to Law Enforcers. Although she still looks quite expressionless in Dragon Love, at least, her portrayal of an innocent and gentle dragon girl is quite passable. Her deep love for Benny is evident. Benny's performance is nothing spectacular since this is like one of his usual scholarly roles. He fits in easily and as before, a pleasure to watch.

Arashi, you must be enjoying yourself in Sichuan now. Ahh..so envious. Have fun. Back to Network Love Story, just wondering, is Benny the leading actor in there? It has been sometime since I see him in a modern drama (the last I saw was Anti Crime Squad). In regards to Michelle Ye's excellent grasp of Mandarin, that is because she was from China. She only moved to the States at the age of 9. I read that when she first went to HK to film dramas, she did not know any Cantonese at all, and had to memorise her lines by heart. I have only seen her in one drama and that is, Gods of Honour and I absolutely feel nothing for her character in there. BTW, if I am not wrong, she is also Benny's ex girlfriend, isn't she? Rumours have been rife about them since 2000, though they never admit too. However, I recall reading that Benny did say he did had a girlfriend in the entertainment circle but they have broken up (last year's papers). He didn't divugle the name. lol...think I am becoming too gossipy these days.

Thanks a lot for jolting my memory about Joyce Chan, goddess. Though I still cannot remember her in JTTW 2 and Dark Tales, finally I know how she looks like, by doing a search on google. And so its her! I have seen her in many serials before, and remember her most vividly in War of the Genders since this is like my favourite TVB modern drama ever. Yes, Benny's transition from the arrogant and hot tempered brat to the filial and nice general in Gods of Honour is natural. And he looks real good in his general outfit, with the spear in his hand and riding either on the fire wheels or the horse. He does not look too flattering though, with his hair tied up in 2 buns and donning the typical Nezha attire. Anyway, I really enjoyed watching him in here, especially his moments with Yuen King Tan.

Yes, what I meant by negative influence is that both of them (Benny and Charmaine) might lose the support of fans should their romance come to light. Fans tend to paint their desired pictures of their idols, and hope for them to be a real couple with a certain someone they like too. As long as their idols remain single, there is still a hope that this picture can become a reality and they (fans) can continue to indulge in their fantasy world. This is off topic..but some HK celebrities have chosen not to admit to any romance precisely due to the fear of declining popularity. Yes, this is dumb but a harsh reality. For eg, Leon Lai and Shu Qi. When hearing of the alleged romance between them years ago, some Leon's fans were unhappy and even sent threat letters to Leon, demanding him not to go out with Shu Qi. If not, they will take some drastic action, Hate mail was sent too. Another reason, is the continuous hounding by the paparazzi.

I am quite sick of this whole Benny-Charmaine issue too. This has been over-hyped. Hmm, I hate to admit this but it might be that they want to take the chance to grab attention too, using their romance as a stepboard. Both are extremely rumour-prone artistes ever since they started out. Both are reputed to have messy private lives. Over the years, I do believe some of these reports are credible. 'No smoke, no fire' Oh well then, nevertheless, this still does not affect Benny being one of my most well-liked artistes ever. As said, he simply has screen presence and is lovable. Whnever he appears onscreen, my vision is automatically fixed onto him.

Benny's performance as Duan Yu is defintely the best to date. To rachellam, I would suggest that you rewatch DGSD'96to refresh your memory of him. Moreover, this is indeed a an awesome serial. One of my top favourites. Not to be missed.

Hi all and welcome to the forum rachellam!!! Sorry I confused you guys about the name change .

Yeah, rachellam, you have to rewatch DGSD, it's not a series you want to forget especially Benny, he was so cute and funny. This series is one of the best series, I love it too. Definately a series worth rewatching.

I agree about Fennie being unexpressionless but the character in Dragon Love is not a difficult character to portray maybe that's why she faired better than in Law Enforcers. Let me know how you like the series when your done, okay Lingz13?

I remember the rumors regarding Benny and Michelle, I always thought it was all stuff the tabloids made up just for stories.

Yes, I liked him in GOH too and like the scenes with him and Kingdom. LOL, and those 2 buns are kind of funny.

I understand the negative influence on their careers now. Some fans can be a bit strange. If Benny was really dating Charmaine, I would still be a fan. As long as he is still acting it's fine with me, doesn't matter who he's dating. I think as fans we should be happy for them instead.

Sure, no problem, botan. I will post my comments once I am done with Dragon Love, which I roughly estimate, to be in the next 3 days or so.

    Hey there you guys

Lingz, I'ld agree. Benny looked rather funny with his two buns/pigtails, but later when he got that general hairstyle and outfit, he looked so much better. I'ld diffinately agree. Most of his scenes with Kingdom Yuen was very touching and also the scenes that he had with his two older brothers were touching. I remember a lot of the scenes that had him and Kingdom in it. Most memorable to me would be her death and Benny crying on the mountain top.....

You know, I heard about Benny and Michelle dating also, but I still don't know rather it was true or not. They seemed to be very close before and there was a lot of pictures of the two togehter. Very cute ones I must say. Anyways no clue on his gf then and no clue now

Lol, no problem Lingz. Glad that you remember her from War of the Genders I never saw that serial, but I've heard many people mention it. You know, I'm not sure about Benny in Network Love Story. Think he should be one of the mains. Anyways I remember catching a few clips of it in other serials, Benny looked funny. Much older then he is supposed to look due to that hairstyle he had going on....hehe

So rachelle, do you watch serials on tv right? That means you don't rent from rental stores? Maybe you should go around asking for the drama. Its only about....8 years old, hehe Good thing my parents got it on VHS, but some of it went missing...Like bits and parts of it No worries, best parts still viewable, hehe.

Hi everyone. I finished watching Dragon Love a couple of hours ago.

Anyway, its so frustrating. I actually finished typing my long comments on Dragon Love and now they are gone. Waste of my effort and time. Oh well, I am too lazy and tired to retype everything. Shall drop a few sentences about it and continue with the rest the next day.

botan, I understand why you like Benny in here. I feel the same way too. He is decisive and not wishy washy and his utmost devotion to Fennie touches me. Ahh..if I could meet a guy like that in real life, there would be no regrets in my life. Not to forget, he is such a capable physician. Fennie is quite likeable in here and I enjoy her scenes with Benny. They make a cute couple though its sad that they are not destined to be. My most disliked character is that Dragon Slayer. What's his problem man?? He goes around stirring up trouble and causing conflict between man and dragons, and still insists that dragons are evil! Overall, I find Dragon Love to be a watchable serial, though nothing great. Its more like a love story, with a simple plot but good casts. I would rate it a 3/5. I shall talk more about it (other characters) in my next post. Now too sleepy. How about you. botan? Your views?

goddess, you should give War of the Genders a try. Its very hilarious. Not those dumb jokes usually seen in comedies. I am not sure whether Benny dated Michelle in the past but they do defintely seem to be on close terms. Anyway, it doesn't really matter who he was and who is as Benny's fans will still continue to support him. Talking about his 2 brothers in GoH, I recall one scene where the 3 of them defeat the enemies by using the righteous sound (zha) which is the nemesis of the evil sounds (heng and ha). That is so cartoonish and funny, I felt. Of course, it also shows the unity of the 3 brothers.

rachellam, just wondering, where do you reside? I am not sure where to download DGSD96 online but the VCDs are out.

    Hi all!!!

What happened to your comments Lingz? I hate it when that happens. I write this huge paragraph and I click submit reply and then the site says "you are not logged in" and then I log in and the page says "no thread specified." Really annoying when that happens . But I usually click the back button twice and it gets back to my message.

Yeah, I agree Lingz, I wonder if there is really a guy like that in real life. It was sad wasn't it how Benny and Fennie were so cute but couldn't be together. I watched this series a long time ago so I don't remember much about it but I would rate it a 3/5 too. It was okay, the love story was sweet but too simple. I felt that there should of been more to the story than just love. The series had potential to be more interesting. LOL, yeah, I was wondering the same thing about the dragon slayer man. He's just weird and has this grudge against dragons for no apparent reason. Gosh, they never did anything to him. Didn't Fennie try to save him in the end and sacrificed her life? Oh, I remember the princess. I found her so annoying always clinging onto Benny.

Yup, the VCDs for DGSD are out. I think it's a series worth buying. You can find them on TVB eshop, Yesasia.com, and Sensasian.com. I had checked out Yesasia for the series but for some reason they only have the first half, I couldn't find the second, unless I overlooked it. I'm not sure where you can download the series either.

    Hi botan!

I faced the same situation as you did too. It always happened if we have spent a considerable amount of time typing the post. That's why usually before I click 'Submit reply', I will save it first. Then when I relog in, I simply paste the post. But on that day, I forgot to save it. When I press the 'back button', it appears something like 'The page has expired'. I couldnt trace back what I have written.

Benny's character (Ye Xi ) is just too perfect in Dragon Love. Perhaps such a character can only exist in dreamland? But then, I do like a lot in there too. He looks best in the outfit and wearing that pointed headgear (I am not sure how to describle it. But you get what I mean, right?) after he becomes the Imperial Physician in the latter part of the serial. He is one who knows what he is doing and stays firm to his love. He does not accept the Princess though he is touched by her udying love. For he understands that even if he marries her, the one he loves most is still Fennie and he does not want to bring misery to the Princess. This will be unfair to her.

I agree that the Princess is sorta annoying for clinging onto Benny despite his repeated refusals. But from another point of view, she is actually seeking for her own happiness. As long as Benny remains unmarried, to her, there is still a chance that she might win Benny's heart. When she finally realizes that the she has 'lost', she is able to take it in her stride and even sincerely offers them her blessings. When everyone thinks that Fennie has perished during the heavenly catastrophe, she (the Princess) waits for 3 years for Benny to recover from his sorrow. Her love for him never wavers. She has no lack of potential suitors but she remains true only to a commoner. Benny. For this, I admire her. Her optimistic, bubbly nature, self sacrificial actions, continuous support for him (putting in good words, thus saving his life repeatedly), and also not listening the dragon slayer's claims that the dragon clan is evil (for she knows Fennie is good) make her quite likeable. But I must say though, I do pity her that for all the effort she has put in and still not getting the love she wants, she don't make a compatible couple with Benny. Benny and Fennie are the ones meant for each other. The scene where Benny holds the leaf to his lips, blowing the usual melancholic tune with Fennie in his arms, leaves one with a tinge of sadness. I like the part when Fennie has to take shelter in the painting to escape from enemies. Years later, this painting unexpectedly falls into Benny's hands. Fennie tears in one particular scene, and Benny is surprised to see the appearance of the tear in the painting.

Yah.....that idiotic dragon slayer seems to hate dragons with an unexplained vengance! I thought he would die in the end yet he is saved by Fennie who perishes instead. You know what, I was wondering how come in the whole serial, he only wants to get rid of the 4 dragons (Fennie's family) when he repeated exclaims that his aim is to destroy every dragon. There are many other dragons. aren't there? From what I see at Benny and Fennie's wedding. Chin Kar Lok is okay though he irritates me at times on the way he treats Benny because of the Princess. Rain Lau, as usual provides comedic relief though I don't quite like the way she goes desperately after the Prince who treats her harshly initially.

The TV station over here (Spore) has also aired two of Benny's dramas in a row, Gods of Honour and Whatever It Takes recently. Same situation. Unless one subscribes to cableTV or rent the dramas, one can only wait to watch the 'outdated' dramas on the free to air channels.

I think his latest drama is The Voyage of Qian Long To Jiangnan (Qian Long Xia Jiang Nan) with Charmaine Sheh. Currently, he is filming a new show titled Sheng Kong Gao Fei (Éý¿Õ¸ß·É), where he plays a pilot. Other artistes include Celest Chong and Jiang Zuping. http://www.chanhoman.com/focus/viewthread.php?tid=601

Hey there everyone!!! Wow, long replies here!!!!

Oh, I know what you mean. I've experience that same situation numerous times before, so now everytime I also copy the text so if anything goes wrong, I'm fine, hehe

Lol, after reading your comment and botan's I'm thinking about Dragon Love!!! Hehe, I'll put both of these serials on my rent list, but it'll be awhile before I get there. Probably will have Dragon Love first since its shorter right?

Lol, I remember the scene your talking about. I think when I was watching that part for the first time, I was laughing at how sorta cheesy it was, but overall I do agree that it showed the brothership between the three. It was cute afterall, hehe

Hehehe, thankie LIngz for all the Benny links and the latest news. I just checked out the news for his serial with Jiang Zu Ping and Celest. It sounds good and Benny looked so funny in that pic. Lol, whats with his hair lately? So puffy lets put it I'm very curiosu on that serial now and really excited too since I just love Jiang Zu Ping!!! Wondering when it'll ever get released, lol. Will be some time huh?

I'm still waiting for Benny's serial with Nicky Wu and Ning Jing!!!

    Hey guys, I'm back!

What can I say? Sichuan is really beautiful. And I also found out that Country Spirit was also shot there. Hey Lingz13, I'm from Singapore too. Been trying to catch Country Spirit on Channel U to relive the gorgeous scenery that I can't get enough of.

Singapore's cable channel is also showing Vigilante Force now, and I'm dying to find out Benny's outcome at the end. He's really in desperate straits in the current episodes, toeing the line between good guy and villian. I hope the good guy wins out because he doesn't look like a villian from any angle and he's rather cute in here.

About Network Love Story, I agree with Goddess that Benny looks really old in there. It's his hairstyle and dress sense. He and Michelle are supposed to be the 2nd leads in there, but they don't get a lot of screen time. The script watches like it's being written by amateurs with things happening simply because the writers want them to happen. I'm primarily watching it for laughs and my sister thinks I'm crazy, because I'd groan and complain about how bad it is, but still keep my eyes glued to the screen.

On a side note, the mainland actor who plays the first lead bears an uncanny resemblance to Raymond Lam, and he has palpable chemistry with Michelle! I wonder what that says for Michelle and the co-stars she works best with.

Benny's character is like background prop at this point I'm watching (episode 5-6). He doesn't have much to do, and so far, I'm agreeing with the reviews of the series in here. He's quite passive and not really likeable. I'll continue updating as the story goes along. Hmm, I might be piqued to write a review of this series if nothing else but to tear it to bits. It's cathartic.

Oh, oh, I'm in the process of getting Dragon Love right now. Yay, more fodder to burn for this particular thread. Need justification to hang around here.

Hi all!!! Glad you're back Arashi !

I can't believe it, I didn't spend that long typing a message. The website logged me out and I hit the back button to try to recover my message but it got lost. It's a good idea to just copy it in case that happens again.

Yeah, Ye Xi probably only exist in dreamland . Now that you mention it I do agree with you about the princess Lingz. I don't remember the painting part but it does sound very sad and touching. That's what I don't understand about this series, how the dragon slayer only wants to kill those 4 dragons, there's plenty of other dragons. What was his reason for wanting to kill dragons anyways?

Hmm, Network Love Story doesn't sound like a good series. How's Vigilante Force? Is that the series with Bowie Lam, Kenix Kwok, and Tavia Yeung?

    Hey there you guys

Oh, so Country Spirit was shot in the same locations sorta of? I didn't notice similar sceneries, but the sceneries in both serials were very beautful. I still have a very vivid memory of the water wheel in CS!! That scene was so beautiful!!

Lol, I do the same thing at times Arashi. Complain a lot about how much that serial stinks, yet I keep my eyes glued onto the tv for hours to finish the serial!!! Hehe, with my mouth still complaining every few minutes though

Yups, your right botan. Vigilante Force stars those three and also Joe Ma. Before there was some news that Michelle Yip was supposed to star in it too and was supposedly going to be Tavia's role. Wouldn't really matter though since its Benny and Elieen.

    Rehi, all of you!

Vigilante Force is surprisingly good. I believe this is the series that shot Joe Ma firmly into first male lead position. He plays a very cool and dashing G-4 turn police officer in here. On the contrary, Kenix Kwok bores the hell out of me in here. Everytime she appears on screen, my mind switches off.

Tavia Yeung's Kelly is a very meaty character in here. She plays a spunky pregnant teenager whose boyfriend dies and entrusts her to Kenix's care. It's really enjoyable to see her character grow from a somewhat spoilt brat to a responsible woman and mother. Her love interest is Bowie Lam here and somehow it works out well. Everytime they appear on screen, I sit up immediately because they're a scream to watch. I felt somewhat disappointed because Michelle was originally slated to play Kelly. I keep wondering how she would've fared in the same position. This isn't to say Tavia doesn't do a good job here, and I feel this is the most refreshing role I've seen her in so far.

Benny's role is a supporting cast in here. Eileen has a sizeable role in this series, but I feel that she lacks a certain aura somehow. Does anyone know what happens to Benny at the end?

    Hiya everyone!

If possible, I would suggest that you get both War of the Genders and Dragon Love (especially the former. ), goddess. But yes, Dragon Love is shorter, 20 episodes. Short and sweet. No problem. Glad that you enjoy those links. So you like Jiang Zu Ping? She is quite pretty. I have only seen her in one serial, Wind and Cloud. I think it will take some time for Benny's new serial to be out, since it is still under filming, isn't it?

Precisely, botan! Its weird that he hates dragons so much. Anyway, I think he shouldn't have such a nice ending. Come to think of it, there are quite a number of loopholes in here. Oh, just wanna say, I like the themesong and have even downloaded the themevideo.

Welcome back, Arashi! Nice to know a fellow Singaporean here. I am also watching Country Spirit on Channel U. Beautiful sceneries just like Plain Love 2. I still prefer Plain Love 2 though. Vigilante Forces sounds interesting. But Benny is just a supporting character in there? It seems that he has never been the lead in any modern serial, right?

Eileen? Which Eileen? Which serials has she acted in before?
