Default Best fighting scenes from Jing Yong series

Fighting scenes is like one of the most important things we look for when it comes down to watching a wuxia series....

So whats your list of favourite fight scenes from all those Jing Yong Adaptions out there?

Do you prefer the fighting scenes filled with CGI, or no CGI?

I agree with Temujin and linghuchong.

I also like the needle work of DFBB in XAJH2001.

And in HSDS2003, I love the part where ZWJ fights the three servants of Zhao Min at WuDang, while pretending to be a disciple of Zhang San Feng.

The guy who played Xu Zhu in DGSD 96/97. Does he know at least some kung fu (unlike most other wuxia actors)? I noticed he did not have stuntmen substitutes and he moved pretty well in the fight with DCQ.

yep, he does knows kung fu, his names "fan siu Wong"

    Another question:

In old wuxia series, martial arts like HL18Z is just shown as a palm skill, where as now, they tend to show HL18Z as a dragon shooting out thanks to CGI, now my question is....which one do you think is more suitable

I personally like how they shoot the dragon out, even though its not as realistic, it just looks awesome!

You are right I forgot to mention the needle fighting scene with DFBB. Actually the fight scene on the beautiful bridge at Heng Shan was also very memorable. And off course, the fighting scenes during the merger of all the sword sects in Song Shan.

Also, the fighting scene with the big wine jug btwn the 7 Freaks and QCJ in LOCH 03.

HL18Z is classified as a 'palm' skill, but it does 'shoot' out, as evidence from XF's strikes against DC. There was never a mention of a dragon flying out (I don't think). I kinda like both ways though..

One cool scene that has stuck with me for ages now is the scene in LOCH 94 when The Taoist guy (forgot his name) and GJ meet with YK and his (7?) bodyguards. The Taoist and 1 of the guards start matching palms, then OYK comes in, placing his un-opened fan between their palms, then opens it, pushing them both back. You gotta see it, It's hard to explain. I just thought that was so cool.

I would prefer if they leave out the CG dragons in long distance palm blasts. Use translucent ripple effects or something. CG Dragons is way too cheese and low class.

what about QKDNY (Ming Sect's Martial arts ) - as like a mirror reflecting stance like how TVB showed it in HSDS 00, even though this looks really cheesy, how else can it be shown?!

As linghuchong said, yes he does. It is a Southern style called "Hung Kuen" or "Hung Gar", said to have been created by a Shaolin lay disciple called Hung Hei Gwoon, a contemporary of Fong Sai Yuk and anti-Manchu "patriot".

I remember reading a quote that he used to practice the "gung ji fook fu kuen" (I-shaped tiger subdueing fist) and the "fu hok suerng ying kuen" (tiger crane fist).

Think he went to china and study kung fu there for a few years before his acting career started in Hong kong.

He definitely knows kungfu. And he has muscles O_o

Unlike Felix's body (the scene of the wolf tattoe is horrible) the actor of XZ was built =O

Awww.....come on, Felix's body isn't that bad. Not skinny nor chubby at least. Just a normal body. And yep, XZ from DGSD'96 deffinent don't have an embarasing body. I were when I saw how he kicked and jumped during the time he're learning kung fu from the wall. That guy got moves. He will deffinently beat up Felix and Benny in a real fight.

Depends on how often CGI is used in the said show. It was totally inappropriate in CCTV's LoCH, where XL18Z was made out to be the most powerful attack in the world... when it patently wasn't! LoCH was rather restrained in the use of blatant CGI, using mostly 'wripple' effects for Qi emanations, except for XL18Z! It bugged the heck out of that they actually animated dragons when GJ's XL18 wasn't even that powerful.

On the other hand, the same dragon SFX would be totally appropriate for something like TVB's HSDS2000, where all the actors were fat, lazy bums who did nothing but wave their arms while the computer guys added in pretty graphics. When 9YSG shoots DBZ-style fireballs, CGI dragons for XL18Z is totally appropriate.
