Thanks for posting all the pictures. Woa, he does look tired in that picture. What events are these photos from?Originally Posted by Lady Zhuge/

Wow, it's been over a year and the series you want to see still has not been released?!?!? TVB series seem to get released a lot faster. I guess we will have to wait very patiently for the releases of Julian's series.Originally Posted by Lady Zhuge
Yeah, I thought the two cities were quite different. Kaohsiung is more polluted and more hot and humid (which I think makes city very unlivable). The Taiwanese dialect is spoken more in KH. I don't know how to explain it but the culture for both cities seem different as well. KH is more disorganized and less maintained. There are also less foreigners there, it's especially rare to see any Asian Americans. I think KH is a very boring and depressing city. It's supposedly Taiwan's second major city but there isn't much going on, there isn't much to do down there, and there isn't much to see. Living there made me feel kind of isolated from everything.Originally Posted by Lady Zhuge
Taipei on the other hand, is a bigger city, it is a little cleaner, slightly less polluted, and the weather is cooler. There is more to eat in Taipei, they have a wide variety of cuisines and its easier to find a nice clean restaurant. Definitely more shopping as well. More things seem to be going on there, especially entertainment stuff, like award shows, concerts, album/movie promo events, etc. (it's quite easy to get to see your fav singer/actor, one of the few things I will miss about Taiwan). There are more differences but that's all I can remember for now, plus, the list would get even longer. And, some things are just hard to explain, you would have to be there to experience it.
Hi botan, it has indeed been a long time. Glad to see you posting here again.Originally Posted by botan
Those pics are from Hong Fen press conferences.
Julian has finished filming Hong Fen, which is a TV series. It's out already too. Here's a thread on it if you're interested. Recently I think he finished filming a new movie, freeing him up to attend some promotional activities.
Fortunately this doesn't happen with every Mainland series. Most do come out in reasonable time. I've been watching The Legend of Lu Xiao Feng, which is a series of 10 stories/TV movies. Julian is really great in the role.Originally Posted by botan

Thanks for the descriptions. If I ever visit Taiwan, I'd give KH a skip and just go to Taipei.Originally Posted by botan

Hi Lady Zhuge! Thank you for the updates and link to the Hong Fen thread. I'm suprised that it has already been released, that was fast. Are you currently watching it?Originally Posted by Lady Zhuge
I didn't know Lu Xiao Feng has already been released. How far along are you with this series? Julian is a very good actor so I'm not suprised to hear that he can portray the role well.Originally Posted by Lady Zhuge
School has been okay, just taking half time this semester. I haven't been watching any series or animes for the past few months. I think I've kind of lost interest with them. How about you? How is school? Are you watching anything else other than LXF?Originally Posted by Lady Zhuge
You're very welcome. I'm not currently watching HF 'cause I've already got too much on my plate. It's also not a priority since the genre/story doesn't really appeal to me, so the main reason I'd have for watching it would be for Julian.Originally Posted by botan
I did watch two of Julian's latest released films though, both of which were just okay. Julian wasn't the lead in either of them.
It's currently broadcasting on CCTV, one story per week. So far five stories have aired and I'm looking forward to the rest. I'm not surprised Julian's great in the role of LXF either, but before the series even aired, some people felt he was a big miscast. That's not to say this series is not without miscasts, though. Peter Ho's Ximen Chuixue is the glaring one, both on paper and on-screen.Originally Posted by botan

I'm in my final semester of classes before rotations start, so that's kind of exciting. However, it also means my level of motivation has been at an all-time low. Motivation and procrastination are pretty much inversely correlated.

Since we last talked, I've gotten more and more into Japanese series. They're short and therefore generally less draggy, with more refreshing and creative storylines. Besides Lu Xiao Feng, I'm currently watching Haken no Hinkaku, Boku dake no Madonna, and Love Revolution. I'm also finishing up Feng Shen Bang and planning to start the new Bi Xue Jian soon.

What is the genre of HF anyways? Drama? Didn't know he recently released movies. Who were the leads in the movies instead?Originally Posted by Lady Zhuge
Sounds more interesting how the series is split into different stories instead of one long one. I guess people didn't think Julian fit the role of LXF because he didn't have that "LXF" look. He kind of has a baby face. But his acting always makes up for whatever look he is lacking in for a character.Originally Posted by Lady Zhuge
Rotations? Are those like clerkships/practicums? LOL, I know what you mean about motivation vs. procrastination. I've been less motivated lately too, that was the reason why I decided to take half time this quarter.Originally Posted by Lady Zhuge
Wow, that's a lot of series you are watching. Seems like J-dramas are quite popular these days. I've only tried watching one called Hana Yori Danga but didn't get far with it. Which ones would you recommend? I haven't heard of Feng Shen Bang. Actually, there's a lot of series I don't know, been out of touch with the drama/series world. How do you like FSB? Bi Xue Jian is is another Jin Yong adaption, right? So many remakes these days.Originally Posted by Lady Zhuge
Yeah, it's a drama. I'm not too fond of the time period either.Originally Posted by botan
Ekin Cheng was the lead in Heavenly Mission and Francis Ng, Eric Tsang, etc. were more of the leads in Wo Hu.
Technically it's a series of 10 television movies and none of the mysteries really have anything to do with each other, which is why I guess they've made it this way. I haven't read the books or watched any of the previous adaptations, so I never had an image of how Lu Xiao Feng is "supposed to look." Now Julian is firmly stuck in my mind as how this character "should look."Originally Posted by botan
I totally agree on his acting. I don't recall Julian being miscast in any role that I've seen him in. Do any come to your mind?
Yes, they're like clerkships. How many more years do you have 'til graduation?Originally Posted by botan
I haven't seen Hana Yori Dango yet, but it seems to be especially popular amongst the teeny bopper group. Part 2 is now airing. Did you not enjoy it because of the cast, storyline, or maybe the entire adaptation if you've previously seen Meteor Garden and happened to like that one better? I would recommend Iryu (manga-based medical drama), Kekkon Dekinai Otoko (comedy/romance), Nobuta wo Produce (friendship/comedy/drama), and 1 Liter of Tears (sad, but inspirational drama based on a true story). If you like mysteries and don't mind quirky humor, I also recommend Trick 1, 2, and 3.Originally Posted by botan
I liked the first half of FSB alot, but not so much the second. Now I'm just trying to finish up the rest just for the sake of finishing it up. Yes, BXJ is another JY adaptation, but I've heard many praises about this version.

Nope, I don't think he was ever a miscast for any role. I used to be skeptical about him playing Guo Jing a long time ago but I changed my mind after seeing him in Mystery of the Condor Heroes and Palm of Rulai where he played some what of a similar character in both series.Originally Posted by Lady Zhuge
Clerkships! Wow, that does sound very exciting. Does that mean you will be graduating soon? I don't know when I will be graduating. Seems like it will be forever.Originally Posted by Lady Zhuge
Going abroad last quarter has put me a bit behind schedule (although it was definitely a worthwhile experience) but hopefully, I'll be done with my undergrad. degree by spring '08.
I haven't seen Meteor Garden, so that didn't affect my opinion on HYD. I really don't know why I didn't continue it, something about it didn't appeal to me. Thank you for all the recommendations. Most of the genres sounds very interesting. I especially like comedy series.Originally Posted by Lady Zhuge
I will definitely keep these titles in mind and will give them a try once I'm in the series/drama watching mood again.
Let me know how BXJ is when you get the chance to start it. Have you seen any of the previous versions?Originally Posted by Lady Zhuge
No, not soon enough anyway. I'll be graduating in spring of 2008.Originally Posted by botan

Anita Yuen was a guest at a children's charity event yesterday. Since giving birth to her son, Anita has become easily emotional. At the event, when she witnessed a mother holding her autistic child, Anita had the urge to cry. As a mother, Anita had empathy for children with illnesses.
"Since becoming a mother, many things easily make me cry now. At first, when my son cried, I will cry along with him. But the doctor said that it was normal for babies to cry, unless it exceeds 15 minutes in duration."
When Anita was pregnant with Morton, she had played numerous Disney songs for him to listen. The 4 month-old Morton now moves his arms and legs excitedly whenever he hears the songs.
"Everyone knows how bad my singing skills are. But music is a great way to teach children; Morton can listen quietly for 45 minutes. Now I am like his personal DJ, constantly spinning different tracks for him! My father's car is equipped with a mini-television, so that Morton can watch TV when he rides."
Earlier, Anita went on a 5 day hiking trip with husband, Chilam Cheung while carrying her 13 pound baby son. No wonder it was obvious that Anita's post-pregnancy weight was all gone!
Did Chilam help out in taking care of baby Morton? "Of course Chilam didn't! He carried his backpack and walked carefreely, while I was hiking at a turtle's pace behind him!"
Although many friends advised that Anita should not take her newborn son to Nepal, she did not want her baby to visit luxury-filled countries such as Japan. Anita wanted Morton to visit a poor country and hope that from an early age, he would share with others whenever there is personal excess.
When Morton was born, Anita already started donating to charities in his name. Anita also donated the lucky packets which were given to Morton this Lunar New Year. When she receives the thank-you letters from charities each month, Anita feels truly happy.
Anita hopes to visit her grandmother in Australia on their next family trip. But they may have to wait until Morton is 2-3 years old first.
Before appearing at the event yesterday, Anita and Chilam grabbed a bite to eat at the hotel first. Although Lam Chi Cheung and Alex To Tak Wai were also spotted at the hotel and the artists were full of smiles, they refused to be interviewed by the press.

Seems like they are a lucky family. I think Anita is a good mother. Hope and wish them all the best for the future.

Chilam Cheung: "Anita Yeun Turned Out to Be a Surprisingly Good Mother"
Chilam Cheung and Kenix Kwok's new series, "Red Powder" 《红粉》is currently being broadcast in China. Chilam appeared at a press conference with other cast members yesterday and cleared rumors that wife, Anita Yuen Wing Yee has been suffering post-pregnancy depression. Chilam also revealed that Anita will be returning to work next month to film a commercial.
Chilam was also delightedly surprised by the 360 degree change in Anita's personality after she became a mother. "She is completely different than before. After becoming a mother, Anita is more gentle and patient. She takes great care of our son, Morton! Her deep involvement in child care gave me a shock!"
After becoming a father in November 2006, Chilam quickly resumed working after taking a short break. Chilam said, "Although taking care of our son is important, but earning money for the family is just as critical."
Compared with the optimistic and detail-oriented Anita, Chilam admitted that he did not fulfill his father role to the best of his ability. "I need to become more mature. But if a man were to take care of a baby at home all day, he will collapse."
Chilam admitted that when he is idle around the house, he would only change diapers and not help out with other chores. However when it comes to matters concerning his son, he will consent with Anita's wishes.
