Now that my exams are over, I thought that I would do some translating. I chose Bai Ma Xiao Xi Feng (loosely translated as White Horse Neighing West Wind) by Jin Yong because it's quite short... and not many people have heard of it? The main character in this short story is Li Wenxiu, an orphaned girl.
Hope you will enjoy my translation. Please do leave me a message if you spot any mistakes.

Thanks junzi!

I have seen the 70’s adaptation many years ago starring David Chiang Dai Wai, but I cannot recall most of the plot except for the opening scene and the ending. Reading your translation has rekindled some very fond memories of this very old adaptation, which was one of the first series I have seen. The scene of Bak Ma Li San leading his wife and young daughter away from their enemies was heart wrenching.
I remember Li San was heavily injured, his white clothing was stained with blood and an arrow was seen pierced through his body, but despite his injuries and the exhaustion due to having to walk (in the series, there was only one horse), he was still able to find the strength to lead the white horse that was carrying both his wife and daughter away from danger. After all these years, I am still wondering why the Li family was chased and what the main plot was all about. Searching the internet for any English info on this Jin Yong novel proved futile as no one seems to be interested in discussing this short piece. Now, thanks to you I will finally get the answers. Keep up the great work!!
How could they just pillage a village like that? At first, I was kinda ambivalent about Li San's wife killing her senior martial brother like that, but now I am glad. At least she managed to get rid of one villain, because I am sure he is just as evil as the rest of the group.
