I have been super busy but I need a break. This translation is not very good and I don't have time to ask a friend to proofread. Some words I can't translate. Sorry guys. I did my best!
Either onstage or on the racecourse, what Jimmy Lin hasn't changed are his
sparkling eyes. Looking at his super sportscars, Porshce and Ferrari, he said with
confidence and a smile, "I love Matchbox cars since I was a kid. In highschool
I read all the motorcycle and car magazines. I studied them better than school
books."
A lot of men dreamed about cars since boyhood but none is as lucky as Jimmy.
At 18, his agency gave him a BMW 325 IS 2 door sportscar as a birthday present.
At 19, he upgraded it to a BMW M3 for better performance. At 23, he drove a
Ferrari 348. Because of his passion for speed he has to keep upgrading them.
The final stage is to race cars.
He started racing in 1997. 2001 was his best year in racing. He won seven 1st
places, two 2nd places and 3rd places. Last year he ranked 8th among 100
racers in China Rally Race. His next goal is to rank among the top 5. Listening to
him talk about his racing record we are curious to know how it compares to
singing. Jimmy said, "I get accompishment from both singing and racing. But more
from racing because there is only one winner. Winning and losing is clear
in sports. Singing is an art. It is harder to judge."
When he has to face poor results after a race he will study them and work on
improvement. He is a person who will fulfill his dreams, step by step. He doesn't
like to talk but to show results.
He opened the door of the Porsche, stepped into the driver's seat and held the
steering wheel. He said what is great about racing is not just the speed but
standing in the winner's podium and spraying other people with champagne.
He watched the F1 race in Shanghai recently with the now retired Michael Shumacher.
He taught me some racing skills on how to round a turn. The hardest part is the
mindset of a racer.
Jimmy has 9 years of racing experience and shining results. A lot of stars in China
want to compete with him. He said with a smile that he won 1st place in the Star
Race last month. He completed 3 laps and led by half a lap. He said his skills are
from years of practise. What makes him even prouder is that his father, who once
tried hard to stop him from racing, is now giving his approval.
He formed his racing comsulting company in Zhuhai and his own Jimmy Rally Team
this year. A lot of companies are sponsoring. he also has a car dealership,
Road Star, in Taipei that sells and remodels super sportscars. Jimmy said that the
dealership is purely for interests because his car-lover friends always get together
to study cars. They remodel cars and even rebuild entire cars before reselling
them. He pointed at a Smart outside the shop and said that it is the only car in
the world made of charcoal fibre (???). Cool! He plans to open another shop in
Beijing, providing the same serives to car lovers.
Since becoming a singer in highschool to car racing then owning his own racing
team, he is following his interests and path. "A lot of people only dream but I will
take the first step. I won't stay put. Maybe that's why my dream is not too far
away." Looking at his super sportscars Jimmy talk about his ever-growing dreams
and how to spend his wonderful life.
