Just finished watching Legendary Siblings. Jimmy looked so cute in it and i really like her ended up with Theresa Lee. I think i prefer his cute cute look in thiz show better than DGSD coz in tat serial Jimmy is more like a gongzi, very si wen. I like him when he's full of funny ideas and tricks! If not for Alec, Jimmy will be my 1st and only love! Oh... i really luv him but he only got eyes for erm... Liu Yi Fei rite?

ruby admitted that she went out with jimmy on a tv show last year. they started from the School Days movie and broke up in the middle of filming HZGG...a long time ago. Jimmy admitted too but didn't really want to talk about it.

Heard that he has a gf but she's someone outside the entertainment circle...That seems to be the answer that i got when i visited jimmy's Enetandtv Club.

“One who loves cars will never grow old.” “One’s attitude in life is like car racing, the most important thing is to overtake your own self, and not be obsessed about victory.” After many years of roughing it out in the entertainment circle, today Jimmy Lin has 7 years of racing experience, acquiring the nickname of “Speeding Whirlwind, and has already became a professional racer. Viewing racing as his second career, he learnt about life in it.


Made for racing


Jimmy’s fate with racing cars started from childhood. In a house of 5 children, 4 are boys, who all shared a love for cars, and are given all kinds of toy cars by their father. “From bicycles to motorcycles, and then there is the car, there is everything, so my dream of being a racer was formed from childhood.”

When Jimmy was in Primary 4, Jimmy wrote in his essay, entitled “My Dreams": I want to drive a car with wings to chase the stars. His teacher though it was beautiful, and even expressed his encouragement on the assignment. However, later on the teacher found out that Jimmy was more well-versed in racing material than schoolwork, and thus realized, how obsessed with racing was this boy with the angelic smile.

When Jimmy was 18, he had his first sports car- a red BMW. When Jimmy drove it, he felt as though he was flying, and this created the first spark of his fiery interest in car racing. A few years down the road, Jimmy slowly made his way from being an amateur driver to becoming a professional racer, and even established an ESSO Jimmy racing team. Now there are 4 sports cars sitting in Jimmy’s garage: a Ferrari, a Benz 600, a Smart and a BMW M3 that brought to him honor and attention on the racing track. Jimmy loves them as one would love his wife.

“Our racing team is great, we won championships in various races, on big or small scales, and in certain rounds of races.” As he said this, Jimmy’s face beamed with pride. “I feel I have a talent for racing. Take for instance, whether it is getting used to the track or practicing, I have good performances, a lot of professionals feel I am made for racing. Till now I have taken part in various races, on big or small scales, and have competed with many Asian racers, my results are not bad, and this is why I invest so much effort into racing.”


First try at racing


In 1997, 23 year old Jimmy took part in his first race- the Taiwan Super Race Competition (literal translation), and raced in a Ferrari 348 racing car. “During my first time, I was so nervous that my hands were sweating, at the beginning I only wish to overtake others, then I realized it was the wrong thinking. Racing is about stability and constancy.” Despite Jimmy’s dissatisfaction with his initiate attitude, he got the third placing for his first race, a big boost to his racing dreams. From then on, Jimmy got pointers from some well-known Taiwanese racers, and his good results in his races demonstrated his racing talent.


In 1998, Jimmy took part in a cross country race in Hua Lian, Taiwan. This was the cross country race for him. In the last 2 kilometres of the 500 kilometre race, Jimmy’s Citroen SAXO1.4 was knocked out of the race during a braking problem at a critical turn in the race route. Jimmy was quite disappointed: “ It was really a pity, because it was smooth-sailing at the beginning. But this is a hard to come by hands-on experience, safety is the most important! Next time I will pay more attention.”


Jimmy’s biggest idol is Michael Schumacher. “He is really great, a real outstanding car racer, deserving his name as “King of Cars” (literal translation). Especially on a rainy day, he can still maintain good techniques and swerve beautifully. You must know that racing on a rainy day is very difficult.” As he talked about Schumacher, Jimmy got excited, just like a real fan.


Continuously surpassing myself


From 2001, Jimmy followed the GT team as an observer of marathon races in China. In 2002 March, Jimmy represented the GT team in the National Marathon Race at the Shanghai stop, this was his first time participating in a marathon race. However, due to the pressure to catch up with others, about 2 kilometers into the race, on a small bridge at a hilly area, his Fiji Impreza racing car flew onto the backyard of a vegetable farm, and he had to withdraw from the race.

Jimmy’s best result was obtaining second place at a race in Zhu Hai, China. A few years ago, something unforgettable happened. In a race in Taiwan, in his desire to win, Jimmy sped at a turn and in the process of blocking a competitor, his car lost control, crashing into a wall. He paid a heavy price for this incident- he fractured his right ankle, and rested for a few months.


“After this incident, I feel the most important for a racer is to stay calm. Also, there must be quick judgment and confidence. In a race, being yourself normally is important. Your competitor is not others, but yourself. Use good attitude to deal with things, race well on your own, this is better than blocking your competitor’s car. Continuously surpass yourself, this is the truth of racing.” Jimmy also said, “A few years ago, Michael Schumacher had an accident, and both ankles were hurt. From then on, his results were fantastic, and he won a lot of championships. Who knows, maybe I will be like him?”

Nowadays, Jimmy treats racing as a form of spirit, a kind of responsibility. He hopes all racers and drivers will not just enjoy the thrill of speed, but spread the culture of racing, He said: “Racing is not the same as speeding, in the past I will pursue the thrill in overtaking, but now I prefer to race with myself, overtaking myself.”


Racing is second career


Many people view stars that dabble in car racing as posers. However, Jimmy said, if showbiz is his first career, then racing is the second one.

“From the beginning people were suspicious of me, but slowly I get accepted, I feel I experienced life in car racing.” Jimmy also said, “ Perhaps in the past, I race for the thrill, but now I treat racing as a career, it is a different experience from my showbiz work, car racing requires team spirit, and constantly handling surprises, and battling against bad weather, this is totally unlike filming.”

As a professional racer, Jimmy has always wished for a role in a film with a racing theme. “Even if it requires making the car fly or braking instantly in front of the camera, I can do these myself.” However till now no one has offered him such a role. He felt it is because a combination of professional racing background and funding, as well as professional knowledge in filming is needed in order for the film to be made. Since Jimmy has knowledge in both fields, if no one offers him a role in such a film, he plans to shoot such a film himself in future.
