you can start listening to some of his most popular songs so u know what to expect.

so how does it work? You have to wire them money? Will they mail you the tickets? I don't speak mandarin. how do i order tickets? How do i pay if i order tickets online?

so many taiwan idols are 'disabled'. one even has mental illness. and yet they can all dance/jump on stage. one has been 'in college' for 10 yrs and still hasn't graduated. Amazing. this article is from 2007. those idols are 'still in school' in 2009 as far as i know.

    Wow...ladycoco, will u go??
To order ticket, just fill up the ticket reservation online (from the website posted by u ) & u'll have a ticket reservation number. I'm waiting for their email about which bank, acc. no & acc. name.
After payment, choose the seat no., and they will mail the ticket to me.

Doesn't Jimmy look like a modern day king sitting on his throne? He is definitely my "King of Heart".

WOW! It’s great to have so many people so active on the forum today!

Hi seekylinJVFC! Thank you for the link to the Vietnamese forum. I will check it out tonight. Even though I was born in Vietnam, I am not Vietnamese. I can understand a little bit, but definitely cannot read it.

Where are you located? Are you sure you can’t go to Shanghai in November? Northwest Airline is having a sale. It is $355 USD (not including tax and fees) roundtrip to Shanghai or Beijin. Trip must be completed by November 30, 2009. It’s better to call a travel agent and ask about this special offer than it is to research online.

Hi Keroro33! It will be great to meet you in Shanghai. I am going to be in Shanghai from Nov. 13-22. I already bought the plane ticket to Shanghai, but have not book a hotel yet. My friend will do that for me. And then I might move to another friend’s home for a few days while I am there. Don’t have all the details iron out yet. We can chat in detail once I have everything iron out.

In my friend’s last email, she said, “I have booked the concert ticket. I asked them to hold the ticket and will contact them after you arrived in Shanghai.” She did not give me a row or seat number yet. Hmmm….I wonder if the ticket is actually paid for or not. She is on vacation now and has not reply my emails! I will try calling her this week to find out.

Anyway, thank you for the 胜利滋味 lyric and the lyric site. I will check it out tonight!

The “bike” Jimmy was riding is actually a motorcycle. And yes, “88800元 for wedding photos package” which is equivalent to appx $13,000 USD is very expensive, even in the USA. The average wedding photo package price is a few thousand USD, $5,000 USD is consider the high end.

Hi December_snow! Are you back in the States or are you still travelling around the world? Are you going to the concert too? That will be great! And now there are THREE!
    *
Ladycoco, we are waiting for you to join in the fun! Can your parents speak Mandarin? Since your dad travels, maybe he can help you out with the $$ wiring and stuff.
    *
Kid1412, what about you? Are you able to convince your parents yet? After all, you did do well on your exams!
    *
    Anyone else going?

If I remember correctly, it was SHE (taiwanese girls band) who said that they were not allow to have boyfriend, married, or even pregnant when they signed the 1st contract. It was on a TV show, long time ago. They were discussing about other artists as well. I heard that 1st Taiwanese boys band 'Little Tiger / Xiao Hu Dui ' even didn't allow to smoke & drink.

I've never been to Jimmy's concert. Maybe I should consider to go to Shanghai in Nov . From his past interviews & talk shows, I personally think that Jimmy is very good in promoting & marketing. Very curious about what's his marketing strategy for this concert tour, very low profile & secretive. Or maybe he was too busy with his rally race & some charity works? Or he doesnt want to go public anymore, just do a private concert for his devoted fans only
I hope after this rally, he will go back to Taiwan for doing charity works for typhoon & flood victims and prepare for his concert tour . 加油 Jimmy!!
Thanks for the info! Jimmy was actually very famous before the army and was popular everywhere. It is so sad that after the army, his popularity really dropped. However, he is still pretty popular.

Thanks for the info about the other stars. I think that is normal for new idols when they sign a contract. However, they are now famous and more independent so they have more freedom to do what they want.

I have never been to any of his concerts either. He had one here in the US in 1997 with Gigi Leung, but I could not go due to the distance. I hope that he has a great concert tour. I have only seen 2 of his concerts on tape and love his Good bye concert the most. I think that one is the most special to him too.

I hope that he will do more charity work for the typhoon victims too. Jimmy Jia You!!

Thanks for the article ladycoco! I got so lazy to read it all so I just skimmed it. I think it is sad how so many celebs are using one excuse after another so that they can dodge the draft. Most of the excuses are either some type of illness or that they have to attend school. I actually heard that Alec Su was excused due to his bad vision. My mom thought that was accceptable, but what do you guys think? Nicky Wu had to go in spite of his bad arm.

Well, I think many celebs are just afraid of losing their popularity in the circle. Also, competition in the circle is very high now so if you are gone for a year or 2, the chances of your success in the circle may even be gone once you come back. Honestly, you all have to admit that Jimmy(and many other stars that have served in the army) lost A LOT of fans after he came back from the army. He is not as popular as he was before the army. I actually don't think Jimmy's family was that wealthy, but they were pretty well off for the most part. I think that you have to go sooner or later unless you have a really good reason for not going. Also, I heard you get made fun of if he dodge the draft so you have to go sooner or later. Therefore, why not just go and get it overwith??? I think the stars of today are luckier since it used to be 2 years, but now it is 1 and a half years I think?? (Please correct me if I am wrong).

I am sure I bought the 1280rmb seat, but I really don't know the seat/row# yet. I think we will look awkward wearing the same T-shirt. However, we can meet and stand line together to get into the concert hall. I don't know if there is a way to select our seats closer if not next to each other.

Oh my gosh! seekylinJVFC, your Vietnamese forum is amazing! So organized and everything! Thank you so very much! I got home really late today, so I just skim through the forum. I will spend more time to go through it tomorrow. Again, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!

However, I couldn't find any Chinese lyrics in the forum. Is it hidden somewhere?

Now, you made me really, really want to learn Vietnamese so that I can join your forum as well!

Vivi1010, I'm afraid I can't go to Shanghai with you guys this yr. My parents are stubborn and it's too hard for me to make them change their mind. They always treat me like a kid and never let me be far away from them arggg. Can't understand adults. They teach us not to broke our promises but actually they always broke their promises. I can't describe my feelings now: dissapointed, angry...Maybe I'll never be able to see my idol in person.
Well, maybe I would have a chance to see him if he came to Vietnam. His concert tour is called The Whirlwind of Asia and actually he'll make a tour around asia, I hope.

That vietnamese forum is the only fansite of Jimmy in Vietnam so of course it's a large-scale site. But I must admit that it's quite hard for foreigner to find information. And are you serious when you said that you wanted to learn vietnamese?

i don't think bad vision is an excuse not to serve. as long as alec su is not blind, and he doesn't appear to be, he can serve in the back office or do admin work.

of course the idols r afraid they'll lose most of their fans and thus $ if they go into the military for 1.5 yrs. but it's a matter of fairness. other young men have to give up 1.5 yrs of their lives for their countries too. so why these celebs have special priv. Korea is more strict with this. most korean celebs serve in the military no matter how famous they r.

vic zhou or jay zhou don't seem to suffer any bad consequences for draft dodging. they are as popular, if not more, as ever.

i agree that jimmy should've served earlier to get it over with. if he went when he's 25 and came out when he's 27 then it's too late to pick up his showbiz career or to start his racing career. so i think he made the right decision. he wouldn't be as successful today if he didn't serve.

Wow, this forum is getting more & more interesting . Very happy to meet all of you here.

I will pay $1280 for the ticket tomorow (happy...happy...). Just received email from www.51piaozi.com. they said $1280 still available. Luckily they have somebody who can write email in english . Have not book hotel & air ticket, afraid if my bank cant do the money transfer to them .

Want to ask for your opinion, should i ask them to mail the ticket to me, or collect it in shanghai?
    My concern is:
    1. Ask them to mail the ticket: Not sure how good is their express mail, if lost in the mid of nowhere, i will cry, cry & cry....
    2. Collect ticket in Shanghai: Not sure how good is the ticketing company, afraid if there's black market, they will sell out my seat, then i will cry, cry & cry too....

Regarding the seat, actually u can call the ticketing officer & choose for the seat number. hmmm, I hope we can sit next to each other
Viv1010, if you bought ticket from 51piaozi, sure we can arrange the seating number. I have their email.
December Snow, if you need to email them, I cant forward the email to you.

Hmm...i think i rather wear superman t-shirt than Jimmy's , I don't want to look the same as his fans from china. I think 99% of them will wear same t-shirt. To me, his chinese fans are very scary, they can talk very loud even in his concert or racing. Maybe we can wear non white/red t-shirt? coz Jimmy's t-shirt is red/white. Easier to recognize. or we can meet somewhere before the concert.

    Another Jimmy in shorts
