ifensi says that Peter Ho earned over 200 million Taiwan dollars (= US$6.5 million) in Mainland this year through acting, modelling and producing Summer's Bubble, making him the top-earning Taiwanese celeb in Mainland.
http://arts.ifensi.com/article-333989.html
I'm surprised that he earned more than Jimmy Lin and Vaness Wu.
I'm gobsmacked that TV series production can make such a difference to Peter's earnings, and Summer's Desire wasn't even THAT good. I think it only went up to 1.55 rating in Taiwan - making it a respectable hit, but not a fantastic hit. In Mainland, it did manage to get into the prestigious Hunan and Zhejiang TV networks. How did it do so? Can't figure that out, but most likely because of numerous roadshows and press interviews by the Peter-HXM-Barbie power celeb trio. Other than that, it's just not the kind of TV series that will wow me
TRANSLATION:
Peter Ho earns TWD200M: the top money making idol of 2010
Among the idol actors on the small screens, Peter Ho, who becomes a producer this year, is the top earner with 11 ads.
Jimmy Lin, with his racing career and ads makes TWD120M. Among the F4, Vanness Wu beats Jerry Yan this year. With a record label contract of TWD 80M, TV series and ads he makes it into the 100M club.
‘Summer’s Desire’ turns Peter Ho into a money making machine with an income of TWD200M. He appears in 11 ads for about 2M to 3M rmb (about TWD11M to TWD 13.73M) each, plus two movies for 3M rmb (TWD13.73M) total and the income from a label deal and producing a TV series.
Jimmy Lin’s son just celebrated his first birthday. With ads in China, two TV series: ‘Single Princesses and Blind Dates’ and ‘My Girl’ and two movies, he makes about TWD 120M.
Vanness Wu is working on ‘Material Girl’ for TWD 300,000 per episode. He signs with Universal Music for TWD 80M. Eyeglasses and burger ads and stage performances push him into the TWD 100M club, beating Jerry Yan.
Ming Dao sucks in TWD 100M with the TV series ‘Happiness Must Be Strong’, ‘Zhong Wu Zen’, ‘美人天下’, four ads and the Chinese movie ‘近在咫尺’.
Vic Zhou, with the movie ‘Love You for A Million Years’, TV series ‘Home’ and instant noodle, shampoo, Chef Kong green tea ads makes about TWD 73M. Jerry Yan did not work on any series or movies this year. With a book, a Japanese calendar and other trinkets he still makes about TWD 30M which is about 40% of his income last year as the top earner.
Da S shines in her career and love life. With ‘Summer’s Desire’, five movies and 10 ads her income is estimated to be just over TWD100M. Joe Chen gobbles in RMB this year. The movie ’激浪青春’ with Huang Xiao Ming, two Chinese TV series ‘The Girl in Blue’ and ’星光燦爛豬九 妹’, five Chinese ads and 3 Taiwanese ads suck in TWD 80M.
Ady An makes about TWD 48M with three Chinese movies and three TV series. Cheryl Yan makes about TWD 40M with ‘In Love with the Female Anchor’, ‘Zhong Wu Yen’ and TV ads.
Taiwanese actress Chen Mei Feng makes over TWD40M with the 300 episode ‘Night Life’ and ads.

Oooohhh! Peter's going to work with Chow Yun-Fatt on a new big budget movie!!! - The Monkey King. Donnie Yen, Aaron Kwok and Kelly Chen will also be in this new movie. And to think he's buffing up even more for his new role. Swwooooon!
Peter Ho thrilled to work with Chow Yun-fat
http://news.asiaone.com/News/Latest%...20-248183.html
PETER Ho's latest project means a lot for him, not just because it's a big-budget 3D blockbuster.
Taiwanese star is also realising his lifelong dream of sharing the screen with his childhood idol Chow Yun-fat.
The Monkey King, a fantasy epic produced by Filmko Entertainment and based on the familiar tale of Journey to the West, boasts of a stellar cast that includes Chow, Ho, Donnie Yen, Aaron Kwok, Cecilia Cheung, Gigi Leung and Kelly Chen.
Click here to find out more!
"Chow Yun Fat has been my idol since I was a kid. After the cast is revealed, a lot of people have called me, not because they miss me, but because they want to find out about Chow!" he said in a phone interview with the Malaysian press.
Shooting for the RMB4-billion (S$780,000) picture will begin next month. Ho, 35, plays Erlang Shen, the god with a third eye on his forehead.
The character - which also appeared in the ancient fantasy novel Fengshen Bang (The Creation of the Gods) - is usually depicted as a serious, by-the-book person in various screen adaptations.
Expect Ho's version to be different, as he wants to "inject more human elements into the character."
Apart from devouring piles of reading materials on his character, Ho has been buffing up through cardio training.
"With Donnie (who plays the title character), expect the fight scenes to be awesome," said Ho in Cantonese.
It is apparent that the American-born star is a fitness freak. Apart from playing basketball or video games with fellow celebrity Dylan Kuo, he can mostly be seen hitting the gym.
"It's all down to determination. Whenever I'm in a hotel, the first thing I do is checking out the gym. I make sure I work out four times a week. No matter how busy I am, I will squeeze in time for that," he said.
Next month, the actor will take time off his filming schedule to fly to Malaysia for ntv7's annual Star Live Concert.
"I can take a breather from all the fighting and enjoy Bat Kut Teh," he joked.
Ho is one of the headlining acts that include Landy Wen, Della Ding Dang, JJ Lin and our very own Thomas Jack.
His other upcoming films include Once Upon a Time in Tibet, which will be shown next year.
"I did it last year and I played a slave in the movie. It was set against the backdrop of Tibet, so I have to pick up some ancient languages," said Ho, who wishes to play a policeman one day.
This year's Summer's Desire saw him becoming a producer for the first time.
The Taiwanese idol drama, starring Ho, Barbie Hsu and Huang Xiaoming, is a hit in the Chinese community. Spurred on by the overwhelming response, the first-time producer said he would love to produce more television series or even films in the future.
"However, I have to take a rest first. Being a producer is too taxing. It's 20 to 30 times harder than being an actor. You have to find the script, the filming locations and the actors."
"You have to be involved in the editing process, negotiate with people and have a lot of meetings," said Ho, adding that he hopes to produce "an artistic film with commercial elements".
With a packed schedule like that, we wonder whether he has time for love?
"I have no love life now. Right now it's not a priority for me. I have too many things on my plate," he said.
While he is attracted to girls who are filial and patient, he said he does not really spot any potential candidates around.
"Otherwise I would already be married by now," he said with a laugh.
On the recent wedding of Wang Xiaofei and Hsu who was at one point romantically linked with Ho, he said he had sent his blessings to the lovebirds.
"She was injured at the set (of Summer's Desire). Now it's good that she finally found someone to take care of her. I am really happy for her."

Here's the Reuters article:
BEIJING | Mon Dec 13, 2010 11:47pm EST
BEIJING (Reuters Life!) - Monkey King, meet Avatar.
Production has kicked off on a stereoscopic 3-D version of one of the biggest-ever Chinese language adventure tales as local filmmakers hope to match the gigantic success of "Avatar."
The film, "Monkey King," is based on the classic Chinese novel "The Journey to the West," which tells the story of a Buddhist monk's pilgrimage to India to collect religious texts.
One of the best-known stories from Chinese mythology, the popular tale is frequently adapted in for television and movies.
Aaron Kwok, a Hong Kong pop star, is cast as the Buffalo Demon King, while Chow Yun-fat, who starred in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," plays the Jade Emperor.
Other Hong Kong stars such as Donnie Yen, Kelly Chen, Gigi Leung and Peter Ho will also take part.
Kwok told a news conference Sunday that he hoped his character would come off better in the new movie than he does in tradition.
"In Donnie Yen's action design, I hope the Buffalo Demon King can beat Jade Emperor in fights," he said.
To create the 3-D effects needed for Monkey King, the film's producers have employed a Hollywood team including David Ebner, who worked on "Alice in Wonderland" and "Spider-Man 3." Daniel Symmes is cinematographer.
The popularity of 3-D movies has surged in China. James Cameron's Avatar took $206 million in box office revenues in China earlier this year, the official Xinhua news agency said.
Monkey King is budgeted at $40 million and is expected to make a positive return at the domestic Chinese box-office when it opens in July 2012. Approximately a third or more than 1,100 of China's movie screens are 3-D screens, according to Xinhua.

^ i've always liked the character of erlang shen, even though in some versions (most versions?) he's portrayed as evil/on the opposite side of the heroes. i think peter will do him justice though![]()
AWWWWW!! Peter and Eddie still call each other 4th Brother and 7th Brother! Here's a pic of them from Peter's weibo.
Sigh!! I miss the good old days of Young Warriors - the best series ever!
Don't you all think Peter sounds like such a GREAT GUY offscreen!
Here's the evidence:
- Bear-hugged 19-year-old Liu Shi Shi in public at her first major Tangren press conference
- Huang Xiaoming took major pay cut to support Peter in Summer's Bubble (see how much he likes Peter?)
- Matchmade Barbie Hsu and Wang Xiaofei who got engaged to be married within a month
- Matchmade Ruby Lin and Yuan Hong - not engaged to be married, but will definitely work together extensively from now on and her agent now represents him
- Eddie Peng cuddles him

Peter Ho fangirl reporting here! Yes, he's the actor with the most endearing and warm off-screen personality ever! I LOOOOVVEEE watching all his press interviews - he's so charming and funny and....WOW!! He may not have classic handsome features like Huang Xiaoming, but his personality just wins you over so much that he becomes more and more attractive everytime you watch him in action, especially during the New Year Countdown show on Taiwan's CTV. He must be a really wonderful friend to Huang Xiaoming, Barbie, Ruby, Eddie (and more!) in real life.
Apologies for gushing.Just love this guy so much.

Article observes the trajectory of Peter's career. Peter made his debut more than 10 years ago in the film and entertainment business, but his career has mostly been tepid until the recent few years. 2010 has been the best ever year for him with the award-winning "Three Kingdoms", his maiden production effort, "Summer's Bubble", and modern drama "The Unbeatables".
Now Peter has been hand-picked by Tsui Hark for a starring role as Erlang in the upcoming 3D movie, "Monkey King" and the future for him is shining brightly. Donnie Yen will star as the Monkey King, Chow Yuen Fat, the Jade Emperor, Aaron Kwok as history's most handsome Cow Devil and idol drama actress Chen Qiao as Princess Tie Shan.
"300" special effects director Shaun Smith has been invited to design the special effects for "Monkey King". Filming and production will take 5 months, post-production will take up to 15 months. The movie is expected to be released in Summer 2012.
The movie is estimated to cost RMB400 million.
