one of the smartest things QY did for QSSYMM was having Vicki star as the lead and sing so many wonderful songs...also I must say QY did good by including practically all the instrumental versions in the soundtrack as well..

i only wish she maintained that state of mind while putting together the TSRJ album...i really like the music for the series and it's not included at all...

another bad point about QSSYMM was that it had some of the worst looking casts ever...UGLY!!

that old lady with the cat - lock it up for gosh sakes! It's a cat!

ru ping - i hated her most...not because she was trying to steal Shu Huan, more because she kept saying those stupid "noble words." Yi Ping and her father, or Yi Ping and Xue Yi, or meng ping or er hao or someone would be fighting and things are getting exciting...then ru ping has to open her big mouth, and say some noble thing that makes everyone stop fighting! geez....ruining my drama! (same reason that despite everyone elses opinion, I absolutely hated Qing Er in HZGG, I wished she would just shut up!)

ke yun - she was wierd...hated her even more when she was sane than when she was insane...wish she just died...

yi ping's mum - she is so damn in love with the xin ping of hers...it's sad, someone needs to tell her that xin ping is so dead, and is never gonna come back...

xin ping - was it just me, or did she look absolutely nothing like ping ping, in fact, she was damn ugly! and annoying...

meng ping - no need for words, she annoying nature was obvious


as for others...
du fei - he was pretty cute, but i didn't like it how he only seemed to care about ru ping...i mean, it's one thing to like someone, another thing when you only care about her and her only...when yi ping and shu huan broke up, all du fei cared about was that shu huan was using ru ping to get over yi ping, he did not even care a bit that yi ping had lost shu huan...

shu huan - he didn't annoy me that much...had no particular feelings towards him, just thought he was a very dumb guy...

xue yi - surprisingly enough, I loved her! She created drama and excitment in the series...hehehe...everytime she was in, there would be quite a lot of drama! ^^ Great character!

Lu Zhen Hua - i liked him as yi ping's dad and all...though as with yi ping's mum, i think he needs some getting over as well...xin ping and ping ping....he;s got two beautiful daughters by the name of ru ping and yi ping, why need he remember the ugly one...

yi ping - ^_^ I know people found her annoying, but I absolutely loved her! After watching the series many many times, I began to understand her, to find meaning in everything she said...and after that, nothing she did seemed to be out of place, or annoying anymore. People say she was so weak after Shu Huan left her, but even Shu Huan said himself (he said something intelligent for once) "Yi Ping is strong on the outer, but weak inside"
She puts on a strong face, but inside she's not...she can't be. There's no way someone who hasn't felt loved, and someone with her type of background be strong inside. Throughout the series Yi Ping changed quite substancially, and I came to this conclusion...the point of the series was Yi Ping learning what is love, and learning how to love. Putting the word "love" into her dictionary. That's why she changes, because she's trying to find her footing, she's not stable yet, she needs to test and find out actions of love, and the consequence, and she had to adapt...
when Shu Huan left her, she was only starting to discover love, and to then take it away was a huge blow...so she didn't know how to handle it...

wow! I've said a lot! ^_^ Just love the series too much I guess...

yogurtpo3, I loved this series too. Not watch as many times as you, but I still wanna re-watch it one in awhile.

All characters were ok to me (I mean they're good). Honestly, none of them really annoyed me much.

Yi Ping was a strong girl. I really liked that kind of character: strong and never surrender w/ life's circumtances, never giving up. She was weak and committed suiced when Shu Huan broke up w/ her, I think that was reasonable. She was strong, but still she's only 19 (or 20?), sensitive and breakable w/ love hurt just normal thing.

Shu Huan was ok to me. He just annoyed me when he broke up w/ Yi Ping, he went to war's battle as a reporter to get away from her. Then, Ru Ping went to look for him. And he felt for Ru Ping! Gezz....he forgot Yi Ping that fast, was that true love for Yi Ping?

Ru Ping was a weak girl. Compare to Yi Ping, she was completely the opposite of Yi Ping. I liked the conversation between her and Du Fei about she finally realized that she loved him (when Du Fei got hurt, in the hospital). She showed him the red duck which was Du Fei's gift, carried it w/ her during the run-away time. That conversation was really touched me!

Du Fei was a funny guy. He was waay devoted for Ru Ping in love. Really, his devotion of love for Ru Ping touched me most. That was really true true love!. I agreed he was annoyed sometimes, but w/o him and his funny/stupid jokes, the series would be in sad tune and tragic all the way.

So far, I still love it

ahaahha well, i for one agree with u all the way in that point. i hated Qing Er's character. it's like as if she was this "perfect" in every aspect of a ge ge person. (eh it's not reba i'm hating on, jsut the character). i mean, she seemed like the savior with all her vocabs of literary-poetic-artistic language to the two couples. to me, the character was jsut tooooo "perfect" yet not very "appealing" just kidna like "lah"......... and reba's performance at times seemed fake as well-- literally, especailly when she smiles (if jsut seems so forced out). eheh the only thing i liked best out of this Qing Er character was the "starting" relationship of her and xyz's bro.

i mean, Ru Ping NEVER had any feelings for Du Fei (and maybe even hated him)... BUT then all a sudden, after a loooooong time apart, he finally sees her, and it was like BAM she "admittes" that it was HIM whom she'd loved??? how unrealistic. it didn't even moved me, but digusted me, becuz it left me with a feeling of which that Ru Ping feels that she've TOTALLY lost Shu Huan-- no matter how much she fights to get him, it's all over, she'd never win him, and therefore, re-bound to Du fei. --- kidna like something "if she can't get the best, then might as well get the second runner up, before she's left with nothing). QY really rushed evrything in that lil story line. and esepcailly the lil "kiss-anistetic-cure" scene (when du fei got shot in leg, in hospital) that was just horrible.

wow....I never thought so many people would reply so quickly!!! But I agree with the majority of you. But I really like Leo as Shu Huan...and Alec as Du Fei. The way that Ru Ping treats Du Fei is so sad...and I really don't understand how she can all of a sudden realize that she loves him and not Shu Huan. Yes and although dedicating her heart to Shu Huan is very nice, but...really sad and...weird...and too mushy...and I haven't finished yet, but what is the deal with Ke Lin and the brother...I forgot his name...

Du Fei is very funny, have a big heart and his advices to the other very deep only sometime i found annoying is when there's some point/scene he only care about Ru Ping and Ru Ping, don't care Yi Ping's as she also his friend.

Really hate Ru PIng!!!!!!! so selfish, didn't care Du Fei's feeling when she asked him to help her to find Shu Huan. But i do understand when she finally loves him. As a girl, and got a kindness from a man, must be feel very touched. THe problem is that she's too obsessed to get SH's that's why she closed her heart to Du Fei or must say she denied or hide the real feeling toward him or she didn't realize that she already loves him in the first place. What make this look bad is that they showed it too short and to fast (only 1 or 2 eps), should more dramatic or meaningfull.

I don't think it was Yi Ping's fault, she did try to help her, but Meng Ping turned her down, and you surely know MP always treated YP badly.

I hate Ru Ping, she was too selfish, she told Du Fei not to force his love on her, how abt herself? He never stopped loving Shu Huan and always waiting for the good chance to get him.

I don't enjoy watching this serial. The best thing, perhaps is the songs, though. Eh...if were to choose among all the scenes, the episodes (towards the end of the serial) which concentrated on Alec and Ruby happen to interest me the most.

This series does tend to drag sometimes. I'm surprised so many people hate Ru Ping!! I thought I was the only one! But Yi Ping isn't understanding enough. It makes me so mad how Shu Huan always has to give in to her and admit that he's wrong even though she was at fault. The whole Mong Ping thing, although it isn't entirely Yi Ping's fault, she could have been more sympathetic and understanding about what happened when Shu Huan explained it to her. And the part where Yi Ping goes to the hospital after her mom and makes a grand mess of things with Shuieh Yi when her father would have protected her mom...ugh..

I don't like the kissing scenes, too many I guess.
and especially when Shu Huan came back from war and Yi Ping was waiting for him at the station, when they met.. they kissed, with all the family gathering around them watching them kissing.
I found it rather stupid.
