well hes done pretty good so far, was the rookie of the yr in the whl last yr. mabbe once hes drafted (either #2 or 3 most likely) than he'll feel the pressure.

players who get put up for being first second and third of a draft all have pressure, some of them live up to that name and others take a couple years, but if he's up there, he is for sure to do really good

yea, u've gotta be a good player if ur pick that high, even those players that didnt end up makin the nhl, im sure they were really good in junior too.
the last few yrs the high picks had been awesome tho, kovalchuk, heatley, ovechkin, bouwmeester, lehtonen, spezza, etc, all great players.
lookin at that list, 3 of them play for the thrasher (kovalchuk, heatley, lehtonen)!! they are gonna dominate in 5 yrs!

Ya it would sucks... I remember people used to love to play for their countries.... and the only way you don't see people dress to play is because they are hurt.

O well... at least the games i more open ended and its really hard to predict who will win it all.

Canada's dropouts are nothing compared to other countries. Yzerman's lost was actually a blessing IMO because he's past his prime while Lecavalier is in his prime. Belfour is only a 3rd goalie at best and woudln't have played much if at all anyway. I also believe that Theodore is better than Belfour. The only regrettable lost is Blake and I would have prefered Bouwmeester over Hannan but oh well, we're stacked anyway.

The other countries have much greater lost. Russia is looking very poor right now with Federov and so many other stars not playing. Forsberg might not make it to the World Cup due to a slow surgical recovery and I heard that Jagr is not going either. As for the US, it is way too old and there are names on that team that I have never heard of.

It looks like East Europeans don't care much about the World Cup. Heck Jagr seemed to be more excited about the World Championship that was held in his native land. Only the Scandinavians seem to care.

hey canuck21, havent seen u here for a bit. btw, i was curious, ru a vancouver canuck fan?
the way other countries have been losing players, i think canada can put together a team B or team C and still win the tournment. russia is done, specially if nabakov cant make it.
but then its a short turny, so if a team get hasek-like goaltending for a couple games they mite pull off an upset. finland, w/ kipprisoft in net, mite be able to do dat.
but all things considered, canada had to be the odd on favorite, even w/out lemieux (possible), yzerman, belfore, blake, etc.

Hi there, I used to be a Canucks fan but not anymore. My username has nothing to do with the Canucks hockey club though. I'm a proud Canadian, that's why I chose that username.

I agree with you that in a short tournament, a hot goalie can change everything.

Wow, the dropout still continue. It's official, Chris Pronger is out for a minor injury and Jay Bouwmeester is the replacement. I'm a HUGE fan of J-Bo but losing Pronger is a big blow. Why couldn't it be Regher instead?

haha i've been prayin for regher to be injured!! j-bo is a good choice, but i wonder why gretzky and co. keep overlooking aucoin and morris, those 2 r better then regher, hannan, and (rite now) j-bo. we still have a pretty strong top 5 Dmen, but losing blake and pronger is like taking away our #1 and 2 Dmen.
how come ur no longer a canuck fan?

i guess gretzky just want some younger player to be on this team, so when blake/foote retire we'll have some youngster ready to step up

hehe he mention it before... and also said that is hockey for you. I am in the apprasial field.

Also saw the stanley cup two days ago at the airport. They are going to bring it to Davidson, hometown of Cory Sairch of the Bolts.

I always expect the cup to be shiny and all but it wasn't. They didn't clean the cup it was kind of dirty which was a suprise... cause you can't touch the cup unless you are the winner of it.
