but james, lots of the tix sold here in van are sold to coperations and sponsors, so even if some of the tix are too expensive for fans, the arena are usually still full. and if season tix are too expensive, u can always buy it w/ other ppl, or buy half season tix, or ice packs, or just sit way up in the balcony. anyways, price to tix are usually set by supply/demand, so if the demand is way too low, im sure they'll lower the price somewhat.

The Habs have money and yes it seems they wouldn't use it.

The good thing for them is folks in Quebec and many parts of Canada would play for them rather then the big market teams because of the tradition they have. So basically they don't need to lure the big bucks for good players.

I think the key turn of event was when Roy left there... but that situation was different, I think Roy was humilated in a couple of games there and basically the media trash him to a point that he wanted to leave.

w/ todays hockey player, i think its money first, loyal/tradition comes way behind. except for a couple of players like naslund and....actually i cant even think of a second player rite now.

that's why in small market teams is where you can find players who play for the game not for teh dough, but then again they could be playing really hard so they can attract the attention of high paying teams

actually small market players make a lot of money too.

I mean I think the min signing is at least 185k a seasons... that is pretty high in my books. And I think the NHLPA wants it to raise to 300k.

trust me, players in small market teams play for the dough too, its just dat they are either too crappy or too young to earn the big money w/ the rangers, so they are stuck earning millions with the oilers.

money is the root of all evil
kids equal to time and money
    time is money
therefore kid is equal to money squared, so don't get kids, but still money is the root of all evil

if you think about it, 185k to 500k for them could be justifable. I mean majority of them start the minute they can skate... days in and out their parents spend money for their equipment, hockey camp (by the way they cost a lot). It is like sending their kids to college but at a younger age and for a longer period of time. Then the average life for a hockey player is probably around 5 to 8 years. I would think people would want to make a most of it.

well if u look at it from the Point Of View of parents training their kids for the sole purpose of making money in the nhl, then yea they deserve that money (for time and money spent, for opportunity cost, and for the kids talent)
but if u look at it from the POV that parents do all those becuase they want their kids to play a game, have fun, make friends and learn team work, then making the nhl is just a by-product of their talent, so the time and money they spent shouldnt matter.

Hehe, I believe there are more 1st set of parents your describe then the 2nd set. I don't think casual hockey kids make it to NHL. It is usually the dedicated parents and kid that get to NHL. Sometimes I think the parents is in it more then the kid. That is why some paretns push so hard and you hear news like parents choking the coach, parents jumping in the rink and check the other kid that level their kid, or parents doing some random stupid act...

well what can we do, those parents are crazy, haha my formula is kids are equal to time and money and kids are equal to evil squared. But what's the point even if their kids make it into the nhl will they share their money with their parents, i don't think say, probably with their kid

Robin Regher got a 2004 Corvette convertable. around $80~90k cdn for those.

This piss me off Dana Healthy got no criminal charge for what he did that cost the life of his friend/teammate when he plead guilty this week. I mean at least take away his driving licence for driving wrecklessly. Sometimes I think the court treat these professional players or celebritries differently then ordinary joes like you and me.
