well that's just the way the world is, we look down and exploit the less significant and we favour the more influencial ppl, there is no equality

But is sucks... and look at what Bertuzzi have to face... at least he didnt' kill anyone but yet his action could lead him to jail time or at least a criminal record.

But Dana killed someone and he got nothing because he said sorry. I bet it will happen again maybe not him but from another player

well i think because danny heatly was driving and there was no camera and thousand of fans next to him to see him kill his friend, but bertuzzi well there were ppl there to assess the seriousness of the hit and it was like played over and over again for like a couple days to emphasize that bertuzzi is a BAD GUY, that i think is wrong and not right, come on i think ne one on the nuks would have gave him the hit, bertuzzi just ended up the person who did, i'm serious ne one could have given him that hit

i think u guys are way too tough on heatly. even snyder's parents forgave him already. hes just a kid who made one very bad decision, and hes sorry, theres no need to throw the book at him. im not sure any one of us would get something too much different than heatly if that happen to us.

but try comparing heatly to bertuzzi, they did something not right but why must one guy be facing charges and almost get throw in jail while the other gets to walk out free, don't you think this is kinda unfair

Because is outside of Hockey... that is why

Also because no one really saw what Heatly did... except for the aftermath of the accident. While Bert's action was broadcast and reply live over and over again there is no chance he could get away with it.

But if you look at it the unfair thing is Synder is dead because of Heatly's action while Moore is still alive yet Bert has to face more punishment then what Heatly did.

who gets to walk out free? heatly?
bert only got 300 hrs of community service i think, its not really that severe at all considering all the media people calling for his head.
the consequence for what heatly did is alot worse i'll admit, but the difference is intention. heatly have no intention of hurting snyder by what he did, bertuzzi did intended to hurt moore (altho no intended to break his neck).
i've been taking a couple law classes recently, and the point of putting somebody in jail is to rehabilate, or prevent them to cause harm to society again. in heatly's case, i dont think he need rehabilate since hes already learn his lesson, and he wont do the same thing again, so i dont think jail is the rite punishment.

True of what you said... but you can say that Bert intent was to punch Moore and he probably think Moore wouldn't be in the situation he is in now. Same thing as Healty thought that by driving fast he wouldn't have gotten into that accident and kill his friend but he did. The law only works if all the fact is on the table. For Bert he did something wrong and it was caught on TV while in a Hockey rink and bascially he got away easily. While Healty did something i think we could all agree with that is way worst that wasn't caught on TV or in a hockey rink and is hard to proof what his intent was and he got away easily too. Both did something bad the law didn't punish them like ordinary citizens.

I have known guys that drove drunk and had to spend a year in jail and get criminal record after that and the only person they hurt is themselves or their vehicle. These guys, one injury a guy while the other kill a guy, can get away with it. Kind of sad really to see.

dats not always the case. for example, a few yrs back, 2 19 YOs in BC decided to race on the highway in the middle of the nite, one of them lost control, ran onto the sidewalk, and killed somebody. that kid lost his licence and had a 3 yrs house arrest (i think dats what its called), and no jail time. at the time, LOTS of ppl were saying that he got off way too easy, but the judge's reason was that jail is a place to rehabilate or isolate from society (from further harming anybody else), but since the kid show remorse and is considered a good kid by everybody, the judge thought jail wasnt the place for him (not to mention jail would've ruin his life, and hes only 19 at the time). they were kids dat made a very bad decision and end up having the worse consequences, it wasnt like they plan on killing the pedestrian, so it doesnt make sense to throw the book at them. i can understand that some ppl think judges are way too lenient but, in canada anyways, jail seems to be a last resort IF the judge can choose an alternative (ex: BC is known for being "soft" on marijuana growers/users)

well ya that's true, we canadians tend to think if you show remorse then you should be let free, but sometimes ain't it just an act to not serve jail time. hey how did our hockey thread turned into a law thread, this is teh first time that we went OT, after like a 1000 some post this is crazy

i think the '84 oilers can beat any team in the history, they just have too much offense, even the NJ devils of the late '90s cant stop them

84 oilers have like what 6 hall of famers (Great One, Mess, Kurri, Coffey, Anderson, and Fuhr) Not only can they play good defense but they can also score lots and lots of points. I would think that is probably the greatest team ever

Trizz I think is because there is only 4 of us talking on this thread and none of the mods like or know hockey much so they don't visit this thread to know is long.

I like it this way anyways

I think many would agree with this, and ones that haven't made the hall of fame yet there are still many to be named, i think this is probalby the team where everybody looked down on during those days but the chemistry in this team is crazy they totally match with each other and like kill any team in their way. but too bad teh oilers 20 yrs. later are like nothing now

Ya, i doubt you will see something like this unless some big market team buy its way even then is hard to find the chemistry these guys had during those 80's years.
