    Default Chen Dao Ming

Chen Dao Ming is one of the most famous actors in mainland China today. He has starred in series like "Kang Xi Di Guo", "Xin Nu Xun An" (The Female Official), "Hei Dong" (Black Hole), and "Wei Cheng" (Surrounded City). He is convincing in every role he takes on, from emperors to comedic parts to the perfect antagonist. Even in the supporting role of Dongfang Suo in "Da Han Tian Zi", he outshines the young crowned prince turned emperor Han Wudi played by Huang Xiao Ming. Perhaps you have also seen CDM in the films "Hero" and "Infernal Affairs III". This quiet and modest man of many talents also sings and plays the piano.

I've never ever seen him act before, but my girlfriend watched Kangxi Di Guo and she was quite impressed. She even got a copy of 'Hero' just because he was in it. Next she'll probably be bugging me to watch Infernal Affairs III. =)

He is definitely a great actor. I saw him in "The Female Official", "Kang Xi Di Guo" and "Prince of Han Dynasty I". He was so funny in "The Female Official". Like him and Sandra Ng a lot. He even spoke some Taiwanese in that show.

Although he acted really well in "Kang Xi Di Guo", I don't really like that story. It was so depressing. Chen Dao Ming was definitely the coolest character in "Prince of Han Dynasty". Too bad, they paired him up with Alyssa. IMO, she looked too young for him and there was no chemistry between the two.

I really want to watch "The Female Official". I've only see a few clips of the series and they were dubbed in canto.

Yeah, especially towards the latter episodes.

Alyssa's probably more fit to play his daughter.

Definitely a top actor, i hated him with a passion in Hero!

He is also in the third installment of HK Movie Infernal Affairs. Miramax has brought the rights to it and plans to release it in the USA, possibly just on dvd. Also the remake rights have been purchased in the USA as well, probably with Brad Pitt in it.

Again, cool elder statesman of the Chinese acting circle. Actually looking at the first, modern pictures, I think he is kinda cute. However, his role in Prince of Han Dynasty I, namely the omniscent, infallible, flawless and superior advisor rubbed me the wrong way. However, that is obviously not his fault.

Now, if he were to just play a Manchu officer...

Hey Goddess! Good job finding and digging up this thread! Have you seen the movie Hero? He played Qin Shi Huang (your favorite emperor? ) in there.
If you've seen Infernal Affairs III, he's also in there. I haven't seen any of the trilogy yet, so I don't know which character he plays, though.

He did play Kang Xi, so I'd say that's close enough.

Hey there Lady Zhuge!! hehe, now we just need to keep it up!!! Hopefully more members will pop on in here!!!

I don't think I have seen Hero. Yeah, I think that QSH is officially my favorite emperor in Chinese history. Even though he is somewhat infamous, his accomplishments stands

I don't even think Infernal Affairs 3 has been released into viet yet Haven't seen the other two either. Maybe I should dig it up at my rental store. So he was in all 3 parts though?

As much as I would love for that to happen, it's probably very unlikely here at the TVB-dominated SPCNET.

No, he was only in part III, but the consensus seems to be that the first movie is the best.

I don't know which of his series are available in Vietnamese, but definitely try and look for some at your rental store!

Don't give up hope. There is always a chance!! If more members don't come in, no worries. There is always still me and AnalyticChick here to keep it up

I think I am going to try and find the first 2 parts of the movie. Its been so long since I've seen Tony and Andy togehter. Anyways I will try to look for some of his series.

So he isn't acting much in serials now? More in movies?

Hiya Goddess! Why...long time no see...

Okay, I won't give up hope, but it's a tough crowd sometimes.

If you're going to pick up the first two parts, you might as well pick up the third part too, so you get the whole story.

Chen Dao Ming is still acting in series. His most recent one is called "Yi Jiang Chun Shui Xiang Dong Liu" (rough translation: A River of Spring Water Flows Eastward). Hu Jun from DGSD 2003 is also in it, as are Anita Yuen and Carina Lau.

    Default Hi!

It has been great for me to finally found a forum on Chen Daoming which is in English. All the other forums which I have found earlier were in Chinese.
He has become one of my favourite actors since watching him protrayed the role of the emperor in hero. I watched Infernal Affairs 3 after knowing that he was in it.
I hope that this forum will allow me to know the latest news about him because most of the websites on him are in Chinese and sadly to say, I can't read that language...

Hi survivor_gal! It's nice to come across another Chen Daoming fan here at SPCNET. I'm not sure what languages you understand, but have you watched any series that he has been in?

I meant to say that I can't read the Chinese characters.
About the series that I have watched, sadly to say that I have not watched any complete series of Chen Daoming. My local tv channel have shown Black Hole, Kang Xi Di Guo and Young Justice Bao before but this was before Hero was shown and since I first know him from watching Hero, I have only watched a few episodes of these series because I did not know that there was this great actor in them.
I have really regreted for not watching Black Hole because from the pics that I have seen in the net, he looks kind of cool and stylish in it.
I have watched his film, My 1919 for which he had won the best actor award and I like his character in the film although honestly, I think the plot is quite boring.
Do you know of any website about him in English? Thanks!

If you're a fan of Chen Daoming, then I definitely recommend that you check out some of his series. Maybe you can rent them somewhere around where you live? Tigercool sells many of his works (including Black Hole and his newest series Dong Zhi) for decent prices.
I've seen a clip of the film My 1919 in which Chen Daoming's character was giving a very powerful speech. He always seems to be da man!

This a good website about Chen Daoming in English.
It has some good and pretty recent pics of him, like this one (taken at a Dong Zhi press conference):

Thanks a lot Lady Zhuge for the recommendations!
I saw some pics of Chen Daoming taken from one of his drama in this website:
    http://www.5151.net/starclub/club.asp?star=陈道明

This is one of the pics from the aforementioned website:
    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://www.5151.net/starclub/picture/%B3%C2%B5%C0%C3%F7/b295185_small.jpg')
and I hope Lady Zhuge or anyone else could tell me the English title of this drama.

I have tried checking the title from Yesasia but couldn't find it.

From the pics that I have seen, Chen Daoming seems quite good-looking for a man of his age in this series and that is why i am anxious to know about it. Thanks!

    You're welcome, survivor_gal.

The series you mentioned is called Zhong Guo Shi Li Hun, which translates to A Chinese-style Divorce. I'm not aware of an official English name for this series yet, so I hope this at least gives you an idea of what it's about.
Chen Daoming always seems to look younger than his actual age. He also loves to play basketball and stays in very good shape.
