Okay, here are my choices:

Group 1: Zhou Xun, Li Bingbing, Liu Tao
Group 2: Jiang Xin, Eva Huang, Ady An (not my favourite group, but I still chose my top 3)
Group 3: Liu Shishi, Tang Yan, Liu Yifei

For group 4, I know that Guo Xiaoting from Shanghai Tangren would belong there, but that's all I know. I'm not choosing for that category either.

Me too. I think that group was the most talented in general.

Same here, I found group 1 to be the hardest to pick 3 out of. There were also people like Alyssa Chia and Wang Yan from 1974 who were around that age group.

I don't think it's about age or experience. Great talent and screen presence is hard to come by. I'd say Yang Mi is the strongest in Group 3 and beats all the actresses in Group 2, but she still can't beat Li Bingbing, Zhou Xun or Ruby Lin in Group 1.

1. Shui Ling, Chen Zihan, Chen Hao (if Wang Yan counts, her instead of Chen Hao)
2. I like most of the actresses in this list but I don't really feel that strongly about them, so I can't pick any...
3. Yang Mi, Shu Chang (none of the others I feel strongly about, though I do like a couple of them)

I'd say group 2 is the "weakest". Group 1 definitely has a lot of talent and star power but for some reason I don't find many of them that appealing. (Actually, I haven't really enjoyed watching Ruby, LBB, or ZX's roles all that much...) I think YM and SC are both very strong actresses and with a couple more years experience could definitely be up there. The others in this category still need some work but a number are quite promising.

Yeah, lots of talented actresses born 1970-1974. But I think a lot of the famous ones are semi-retired? Charlie Yeung is pretty much semi-retired. Faye Wong, Michelle Reis, Anita Yuen, Gigi Lai are full-time tai-tais. But Lin Chiling, Charmaine Sheh and Ada Choi are still going very strong.

I think the category should just be 1974 and earlier to account for even older actresses such as Liu Xuehua (who's doing grandma roles now) and Xiao Qiang (who still thinks she can act as a young girl...eck). Or all the ladies who play the old evil scheming mothers .

My picks would be:

1974 and before: Gigi Lai, Xu Qing and I can't decide between Maggie Cheung Ho Yee and Wang Yan.

1975-1979: Tough choice since I like many actresses in this group. But if I were to pick only 3, they would be Gao Yuanyuan, Karena Lam and Zhou Xun (though I do like Liu Tao, Shui Ling, Li Bingbing, Niki Chow, Li Xiaoran etc. as well)

1980-1984: Ady An and Ivy Chen. (I used to really like Leila Tong and Sun Feifei but their roles in recent years have been rather bland and mediocre and with so much competition in China, I've sort of lost interest in them. I'm currently rather impressed with Lu Yi (Lv Yi), especially while watching her in the new "Yi Jian Mei" but not enough to really count her as a favourite as the majority of her roles are supporting or guest ones which do not make a huge impression. She's an underrated actress and deserves more leading roles imo).

1985 onwards: Can't think of any others besides Yang Mi ( I do enjoy watching Tang Yan and Lu Chen onscreen as well but have not seen enough of their works to really like them).
