Default Did North Beggar Hung 7 Gung spend time in Guangdong between LOCH and ROCH?

Guangdong Province is known for its fine culinary dishes. Even today, many Chinese are aware of the saying, "Eating is best in Guangzhou."

North Beggar Hung 7 Gung was a connosseur of fine food. In the RETURN OF THE CONDOR HEROES comic by Tony Wong, it is said that Hung 7 Gung spent much of his time after the Second Mt. Hua Sword Tournament (end of LEGEND OF THE CONDOR HEROES) in Guangdong Province, sampling the many fine foods there. Did the ROCH novel also mention this?

Guangdong Province today, of course, is one of the most important regions of China, but its role in wuxia was minimal until the Qing Dynasty (when such figures as the Ten Tigers of Guangdong and Wong Fei Hung emerged). If Hung 7 Gung did in fact spend some time in Guangdong during the years between LOCH and ROCH (during the Southern Sung Dynasty), it might represent the earliest mention of Guangdong in wuxia fiction.

It was actually specifically mentioned in the novel that prior to his encounter with Yang Guo, Hong Qigong spent a few years in Guangdong snacking.

Also, Yang Guo and Dragon Girl's dream was to live in Guangdong.

I have to say, H7G is the most obsessed with food wuxia character I've seen.

I'm not sure, but given that his father Yuan Chonghuan was historically defending Shanhaiguan from the Manchus, and Yuan Chengzi was with him over there, my guess would be that Yuan Chengzi was a northerner who lived near Shanhaiguan, rather than a southerner from Guangdong.

Yuan Chonghuan was an official from Guangdong who was sent to the North=East to defend the borders. Therefore, Yuan Chengzhi is Cantonese.
