I don't know about the 1st piece of news (with KSW SSH YKS photo) because it's in Korean.Originally Posted by seungheoney

LBH fan meet in Jeju on 11/29 will also expect about 5000 attendants. The Hallyu expo opened until March next year, with BYJ for the opening ceremony, and SSH, LBH and other stars attendances will also attract at least 13000 more Japanese tourists to Korea.
The hunks contribute a lot to their countries, huh?

Another piece of disturbing news. He had the permission from the army and National Defense to open this expo. Why the public made such big deal out of it? Why can't they think this way -- even someone like Song who had tried to avoid the military in the past had learned his lesson and found it extremely valuable experience in life to serve his 2 yrs. Won't that be a better message to influence Korean men to have a better view on military duty???
Oppa had all good intention. I hope the jealousy public will leave him alone.

Hallyu Star Blunders On Military Issue
Song Seung-hun, one of the hottest stars of the Korean wave sweeping Asia, is becoming aware of Korean fans' feelings about his conscription records.
The TV and movie actor learned the lesson again last weekend when his public relations company had to cancel an exhibition featuring photos and items related to his military service, which was originally scheduled to run until today.
Mnet Media planned the exhibition at N Seoul Tower near Mt. Namsan that would have displayed Song's military uniforms, ammunition belt and other equipment as well as pictures and films featuring his life in the military.
The company officials said that it was to show the star's "other side" to his international fans, who came mostly from Japan to Seoul to meet and celebrate his discharge. The fan meetings were held as scheduled at Olympic Park Stadium on Saturday and Sunday.
But angry messages bombarded South Korean Internet portal sites when the exhibition started Friday. Korean Internet users called it a "hypocritical", "extremely immature" and "highly inappropriate" move for Song to hold such an exhibition, considering the drama star's previous history.
Song was forced to serve in the military after a major draft-dodging scandal involving him and other two actors broke out in late 2004. The actors forged medical records as if they were having kidney problems to dodge the mandatory draft. But in a second medical check-up conducted after the scandal, two of them, including Song, were ordered to serve in the military. The record found that there were no kidney problems, just a little high blood pressure.
"I personally regret it, and also for my fans, that (the exhibition) went against my intention," Song said at a press conference Saturday, apologizing for any offense given. "I don't think I'm forgiven for my immature behavior around the time of entering the military service only because I've served in the military for two years. I think it will be important to show a sincere attitude upon returning to the society."
The 30-year-old, who started out as a model, began acting in 1996. With his film debut "Calla" and roles in Korean dramas like "Autumn Fairy Tale" (2000) and "Summer Scent" (2003), he rose to stardom with a sizeable fan base in Southeast Asia and Japan as well as in Korea.
But in South Korea, where all healthy men have to serve mandatory military service for about two years at around age 20, any public figure's uncovered efforts to dodge the "sacred duty" can inflame public sentiment, often ending their public career for good.
The public regards it highly immoral for the rich and powerful to try to evade the common duty as they often do, breaching equality among citizens.
Government ministers fail to pass parliamentary hearings if their sons are exempted from the military service for questionable reasons. Yoo Seung-joon, once a popular singer, has been rejected for public entertainment in South Korea after he allegedly gave up his Korean citizenship to avoid the military draft in 2002. The strong measures were possible because of the public's feelings against him.
dont worry about it, colette. the public can be split -- some supportive and some not. but oppa should be fine. he didn't do anything illegal this time with the expo. it was all permitted in the beginning by the national defense.
instead of looking pass old problem happened yrs ago, some ppl rather hold crutches for so long and never learn to forgive and forget. trapped in their small-mindedness, those ppl will never be freed to see the joy of forgiving and love.
wanna send them some poisoned food???? just kidding. anyway, dont worry to much. have yourself a wonderful thanksgiving.
hi song seung heon fan i hope this new is not post yet. so can somebody Translate what it say i think it in korean

Hello everyone! Just wanted to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving! And, I hope you and your families will have a wonder holiday season this year! And thank you, thank you, thank you for all the pics, posts, and articles of Oppa's discharge and fan meet! Thank you for all the translations and comments. I know so much more about our Oppa because of all of you! Thank you for helping me to learn more about him! Life for me these days are difficult on many levels and much of my solace come from reading this thread and being able to be a part of it, even in the smallest sense. Oppa is the silver lining in my ever darkening sky, so I am very grateful to all of you for all the effort you put into this thread.
For my part, I am sorry for my lack of computer knowledge. I don't really know how to post pics or videos, translate articles, or even find articles about him on the net. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to that. Thank you, though for allowing me to participate, anyway.
Islandgirl, I'm glad to hear that you were able to find respite in this thread and news and stories on Oppa were able to help alleviate stress in your life.Originally Posted by Islandgirl04

Hallyu Stars Boost Country's Tourism Industry
Hallyu stars Lee Byung-heon, Bae Yong-jun, Song Seung-heon and Kim Rae-won have contributed greatly to boosting the country's tourism industry.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism says that the number of Japanese tourists in the first half of the year dropped 4.5 percent due to the weakened Japanese currency, but has been on the rise in the second half of the year following the comebacks of several top hallyu stars.
Forty-five buses carrying Japanese tourists were lined up at an army checkpoint on November 15 when actor Song Seung-heon was discharged from the military, as some 700 Japanese fans visited Korea to see Song. On November 18 and 19, some 5000 Japanese fans attended Song's fan meetings in Seoul.
Actor Kim Rae-won held a special premiere of his upcoming movie "Sunflower" and a fan meeting for some 400 Japanese fans November 20 in downtown Seoul.
Some 2000 foreign fans flocked to the special premiere of a new movie starring Lee Byung-heon on November 21.
More than 5000 Japanese tourists are expected to visit Jeju Island November 29 to attend the opening ceremony of the Hallyu Expo, which will run through March next year.
The number of Japanese tourists who have visited or will visit Korea to see Song Seung-heon, Lee Byung-heon, Kim Rae-won and Bae Yong-jun has surpassed 13,000 this year, more than half of the 21,000 Japanese tourists recorded in November last year.
Hallyu stars are thus playing a pivotal role in attracting foreign tourists to Korea, helping the struggling tourism industry to stay afloat.

"I believe that Seung Heon, through his newly published photo essay collection, will continue to share his wonderful stories with us just as he has through his roles in his various works, and through the many people around him whom he has always treated with modesty and sincerity."
'The precious junior' which is what the actor Song Seung Heon is referred to, completed his two year military duty and was discharged on November 15. On the same date, the premium box, Departures Song Seung Heon photo essay collection went on sale and Yonsama, as a close senior actor sent a message.
"My wish is for you to return from the army in good health, and I look forward to a bit more matured Seung Heon."

Elvis Presley Sighting in Korea? No, But Close!
Is Elvis still alive? No, it is Korean actor Song Seung Hun, reminiscent of the king Elvis Presley on his discharge from the army.
The K-wave star was greeted by some 170 members of the press and 1,000 adoring fans from Korea and Japan at the ROK Army base in Hwacheon, Gangwon Province early this morning. Returning to showbiz after a two-year military service stint, Song's stardom hasn't diminished any in his absence from the big screen. Fans waited all night in heavy rain and bone chilling weather to welcome their hero upon his discharge. Song was overcome by emotion at the outpouring of love from his fans and broken down in tears while adressing them
