Newcomer here.

First, THANKS to all you wonderful people who have provided treasures of comments, articles, photos, and English translations in regards to SSH!!! I found a pot of gold when I recently stumbled onto this thread!

My first introduction to Korean dramas and SSH was in the summer of '06. My siblings and I (SF/Bay Area) were visiting an ailing brother in San Diego. Each night they tuned in AZNTV which was showing "Hotelier." I resisted watching but finally gave in and got hooked. The next drama I saw on TV was "Winter Sonata." Through the Internet, I discovered that Yoon Suk Ho had also directed "Autumn Tale" and "Summer Scent." Life has not been the same for me as I now indulge in the world of SSH and Korean dramas!

Before, the only Korean thing I knew was that I always enjoyed Bulgogi with all the side dishes and that I once sponsored a Korean orphan for 7 years (until an aunt claimed him). Now I regularly check out the English versions of the Korean Times, KBS Global, The Chosun Ilbo, Popseoul, etc. You Tube has been a wonderful source of information and entertainment. Of course, my "favorites" are dominated by SSH items. When I first heard "For You" and "After 10 Years" I was totally surprised to learn it was actually SSH singing! What a wonderful voice!!!

To date, I've watched SSH in "Law Firm," "Happy Together," "Autumn Tale" and "Summer Scent." I'm really looking forward to his next drama, "The City of God."

My siblings and I are now considering a trip to South Korea. Wouldn't it be nice if we bumped into SSH or even one of his sworn brothers! That'll be my second pot of gold!

Oh,well seems that Oppa lowered back a bit since finishing Fate. Must be very complicated to film that movie. A lot of fighting and such.

But he looks really good on the photos, a professional model, indeed.
And I've noticed that he lost some weight. According to his cheeks.

I also thought that he was losing bit of his weight and some muscles. Maybe he doesn't have enough time lately to work out with is new movie coming out and all...poor guy. all the pressure. I just realised Oppa hasn't been in a drama for 5 years now., summer scent was his last COMPLETED drama and now it's 2008. wow. been such a long time. hopefully he'll star in a drama soon

Cause as I can notice, he is focusing to more "noir" and masculine roles. More fighting, more physical preparedness and provement, seems like he is trying to get on "upper" level of a more professional actor.

I guess everybody is trying to get ahead and improve.

yep, now that he's done "rough" role that he's always wanted I don't think he should keep playing the same roles continously, take a break from that role and try something different you know. But anything with Oppa is deff. a must watch for me

We use to have a Chinese girl who does the Korean translation for us. It's been a while we didn't hear from her ... she must be either "missing in action" or "found another inspiration."

I agree. Oppa looks so sexy in those photos. I also think that he lost some weight. He should better not getting any thinner, or at least, he shouldn't loose his nice muscles.

(SSH) When not shooting a movie, I'd work out more, like jogging but not at crowded places. I'm a pretty active person. I also love to play golf, swimming, and sport club exercising, I want to well train my body. In general I like many kinds of sports. My daily routine is 30 minutes to about a hour of diligent exercise. Right, like this ... ...

(SSH) I cannot say that it is recently, but I like cowboy style, and T shirt. I am not a very fashion trendy person. Usually I prefer wearing comfortable clothing.

(SSH) The computer game that I'm fascinated? ... ... oh my, Chang Wan computer games have this soccer competition. Yes, it's probably the Chang Wan soccer game that I'm recently hooked on.

(SSH) I have many strong points as well as weak points. But I usually tell myself that, regardless of how serious the situation is, I should remain calm. This is my self mentor secret that I applied all the times. And that is probably why compared to other people, it's not easy for me too feel pressure. But whenever feeling pressure, I'd look for a few close friends to drink together, or to chat this and that, or to go to the gym for work out until I'm totally exhausted. That is how I'd release the pressure.

Janice, Welcome aboard! We're a free board to discuss about SSH. And by "free", we welcome all honest opinions. I'm glad that you join us. Many of fans here are also from the Bay area.

I also long for his next drama. But from the rate it proceeds, looks like we won't see that happens until another year. Darn!
Btw, I believe "City of God" is either canceled, subsumed, or just a lame rumor.
As of current, no one knows what his next screen project might be, though there's rumor that he plans to return to TV screen.
Fate will be aired next month in Korea box office. That means it's probably a few more months til we see it on YesAsia or some other network with English sub.

How cool that you once sponsored a Korean orphan. That is such a good deed to do, especially considering prolonging the effort in 7 straight years. Kudos!

I could never understand why people got so obsessive about celebrities. But, here I am now, enjoying anything and everything I can get hold of on Song Seung Heon!

Sorry The City of God is not a sure thing. I'll just keep re-watching what dramas I already have with SSH, listening to SSH's For You & After 10 Years, and re-reading this thread. I've had some good laughs; you guys are great!!!

If the Korean trip ever materialize, I'll be sure to write. Through watching the dramas, I observed how beautiful South Korea is (been to Japan in 2002). Also, I might possibly try to locate my "orphan," Kang Chun Soo. Apparently, his name is very common. Would love to return to him his photos and letters.

What turned me on Korean dramas were the good story lines, beautiful scenaries and music, plus some talented acting. BTW, is the slapping of someone's face when one is mad/upset a common practice with Koreans??? I didn't grow with that practice and was surprised to see so much slapping, even parents to adult children? Yes, if I remember correctly, SSH had his share of being slapped.
