in continue with SSH frenzy in Japan, here is another hot SSH "commodity" sold there ... the SSH Message Bean!

The soy bean cans are sold in pack of 5 for 4900 Yen (~$40USD). Each tin container bears a cute photo of SSH. The sowing seed in each container is pre-etched on its side with message like "I Love U" or "Saranghaeyo". And all you have to do after purchased is water to side dress the rows until they thrive. When the pods mature, you'll see the etching messages on the beans ....

Whooa! don't you wish it's the real SSH instead of SSH's bean that says "Saranghaeyo" to you?

SSH, approaching army discharge in Nov but popularity soars in Japan; related products sparked/topped sales

Since enlisted to army in Nov 2004 and currently serving military service at Gangwon, SSH's popularity continues to increase. Especially due to his army discharge in Nov this year, fans' attention in Japan waiting for his return increases by the day. The current release of SSH's special products aroused much public attention.

Through Korea cable TV KNTV, the sale of "Message Beans" from 28 March is a unique production. Featuring SSH on the wall of a tin, watering the bean in it will produce a "SSH message" after 7 days.

Words like "Love You, "Song Seung Heon", "Thinking of You" etc. in Korean and Japanese languages made up the 5 different types of "SSH Message Beans" which is on sale currently. During the pre-order period, 3 SSH's postcards were given out as gift items, resulting in hot sales of the products currently.

In addition, SSH and SYJ's drama "Summer Scent" DVD Plus which was launched on 9th this month, topped the sales board of Japan's biggest retailer HMV drama section, thus signifying the unchanged popularity of SSH.

Korean drama "Summer Scent" was telecasted on Japan's cable WOWOW TV in May two years ago. The repeat daily telecast of the 18-episode drama was shown from 28Jun last year. The TV station also telecasted SSH's "Popcorn" (SBS) from 20 Sept last year.

Korea's KNTV also telecasted the drama from 7Aug last year (showing 2 epsidoes daily at 2.10pm). Online Movie & Drama provider Show Time also recommended "Summer Scent" for the summer season showtime.

Additionally, TV station TBS also participated in the repeat telecast of the drama last summer. As SSH's army discharge is approaching, the demand for "Summer Scent" in Japan is highly expected this summer season. SSH's popularity is expected to increase rapidly.

Default Interesting facts from the Summer Scent making

    (credit to IGMA.tv)

Many fought for the roles as they wished to work with Director Yin. Who will doubt his ability after his successes in "A Tale of Autumn" and "Winter Sonata"? Here came the list - Seung Hun, Jae Won and Jang Hak were close contenders for the male roles. Jeon Ji Hyun, Ye Jin, Kim Hun Joo and Song Hae Gyo were also considered. All these artistes were box office assurances. The on-line selection caused the website to break down because more than 100,000 tried to vote for their favourite artistes.

It was said that Hae Gyo even called Director Yin personally. She was prepared to act in here after "All In". However, he didn't want it to look like "A Tale of Autumn 2" so he rejected her. He felt that Ye Jin fitted the bill because she looked demure and sweet. She was also willing to reject movie offers to act in here. Ryu Jin was used to be the lead in other serial but he was willing to be the supporting role. But no one rejected him as No. 2 in here. Many were surprised that Ji Hye was chosen as she was a newcomer.

There was a day when Ye Jin was supposed to film in the tea garden. A 10 minute drive became an hour traffic jam and she was trapped. She quickly asked for help. The deputy director had a motorcycle and came to fetch her. She was past caring about her image and sat on the second seat on the motorcycle in order to save time. They then realized that it was a public holiday and the crowd had wanted to watch the filming process.

Seung Hun and Ye Jin went to Jeju island. Ye Jin was too nervous and had lots of N.G.s when she was supposed to kiss Seung Hun. Even Director Yin shook his head and Seung Hun joked that she might as well kiss his feet. She then shot the scene successfully. This serial brought about 2 billion earnings for the tourism trade.

Many had thought that is was romantic for Min-woo to shout for Eun-hye on the mountain top. He looked relaxed but in reality, the temperature was cold for him even though it was early summer. Because he was only wearing a sleeveless t-shirt! He nearly fell sick because it often rained and they had to wait for the rain to stop. They kept changing places to shoot scenes when Director Yin was unsatisfied. No one complained as they knew his view was always correct.

This serial attracted attention as both returned to the small screen after filming movies. However, it was unlucky to pit against "Attic Cat". The start viewership didn't reach 10%. Only when "Attic Cat" ended then the viewership rose to 19.2%. Seung Hun felt bad as he felt responsible for it but yet he got many commercial offers.

Ryu Jin, Seung Hun and Ye Jin were asked to create their own ending. Seung Hun wished that Hae-won's heart attack makes Min-woo realize that it happens to her because of him. So he decides to give her to Jung-jae and leaves. Many years later, Jung-jae has a daughter and the three visit Hae-won’s grave with her favourite flowers. (How sad - this is a reprise of "Endless Love")

Ryu Jin hoped that Jung-jae kneels down in front of Min-woo to make him promise to let Hae-won live happily. Then he will leave so that they can have their own life (a big sacrifice made but it seems this version is accepted in the end). Ye Jin is torn in between as she felt both leads were good. She wanted Hae-won to die so that she would not end up with anyone. (This ending is as bad as ?Endless Love?).

The scene where Ji Hye slapped Ye Jin caused their fans to have a heated war besides a heated up viewership. Ye Jin found that Ji Hye slapped too hard - did it indicate that she had mixed her likeness towards Seung Hun to seek revenge here? They could not forgive her. Ji Hye's supporters retorted that Ye Jin's Hui Yuan was toying with the 2 men's feelings so she deserved it. In the end, the two actresses had to settle the dispute as they were very close all along.

Ryu Jin is older than others to be their elder brother and took good care of them. But when it comes to work, he learned a lot from them. He had acted in 8 Korean dramas and even took home the most popular KBS actor award in 2001. He graduated from the tourism faculty as he dreamt of doing hotel management. However, his friend signed him up for an acting contest in secret. He was then spotted and started acting. He was at first indecisive of which to choose from but grew to like the job.

Ye Jin did not believe in having fate to arrange love but she believed in it after filming this serial. She would choose Jung-jae’s love as she is more down to earth. Her dream partner has to be firm, confident in work and having strong endurance. Hey - doesn't this match Jung-jae in the serial?? As for Ryu Jin, he felt Jung-jae was too stubborn. If Jung-jae truly loves Hae-won, he should let her go and not cling onto her tightly. His dream partner is to be able to get along. It is nice to have someone like Hae-won but it is best if she is understanding. It seems that he likes cheerful women more than quiet ones.

Seung Hun would not hesitate to marry immediately if he meets the right person. He likes someone who is quiet, feminine and shy. Thus many joked that Ye Jin fits his expectations. He didn't really answer and only said that she had very attractive eyes. Ji Hye is still young at 19 years old and wishes to focus on her studies. But if she meets the right person, she doesn't mind trying to love.

    Default Muju resort

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://www.visitkorea.or.kr/photo/sightguide/1_21_11017.jpg')

The drama starts unfolding the story at Muju Resort. Three main characters Yoo Min-Woo (an art director/by Song Seung-Heon), Shim Hye-Won (a florist/by Sohn Ye-Jin) and Park Jeong-Jae (a manager of the resort/by Ryu Jin) participate in a remodeling project of transforming the resort into the environment-friendly one. Muju Resort is where the story takes place.
"Winter Sonata", another hit soap opera by Producer Yun, took place in Yongpyeong Resort, and as a result, Yongpyeong Resort has become one of the must-go places among the fans of the drama. Now it is time for Muju Resort to join in. Muju Resort went through extensive remodeling for the filmmaking. The scenes were shot at Hotel Tirol, the Carnival Street, Seolcheon Lake, and Family Hotels in Muju Resort.

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://www.visitkorea.or.kr/photo/sightguide/1_21_11019.jpg')

    1. The Carnival Street: This place is where Min-Woo's office and Hye-Won's flower shop are located. The street is now rid of shabby trash cans or wire nets, and the lighting overall is now turned into soft lights which remind visitors of streets in Paris. The Carnival Street is the center of all kinds of entertainment and shopping in Muju Resort.

    2. Hotel Tirol: Hotel Tirol is where Jeong-Jae and his sister Jeong-Ah stays at in the soapie. The luxury hotel is built and designed after the classic hotels in the Tirol in Austria, the mecca of skiing. The hotel is in fact designed by an Austrian architecture and is built by people from the Tirol. The guestrooms are finished with trees from the Alps, and the wood gives out pleasant fragrance.

    3. Family Hotel: It is where Min-Woo and Hye-Won live in the soapie. This comfortable Hotel is located at the foot of Deogyusan Mountain. The Hotel is surrounded by fresh green pine trees and is good for a family accommodation. The design is based on the nature: it is built with wood and is in earth-color. It looks much like picturesque cabins and housings in the mountainous areas in Austria.

    4. Proposal Room at Palla Coffee House in the Carnival Street: This room is on the third floor at the coffee house. The room looks out over the Carnival Street, and this room will be decorated in a way it was done in the soapie.

    5. Seocheon Lake Cafe and the esplanade around the lake: Near Seolcheon Lake, there are a cafe and an esplanade around the lake. The lake is picturesque, and the cafe and the walk around the lake are quite popular among couples as it is a good place for romantic hours. The lake (17,000 pyeong) is formed with water flowing down from Deogyusan Mountain. A walk around the lake and in the forest will be a pleasant day out for visitors.

    Default Botanic garden

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://www.visitkorea.or.kr/photo/sightguide/1_21_11056.jpg')

Min-Woo's mother lives in Korea Botanic Garden in the drama. Hye-Won (Sohn Ye-Jin) loves wild flowers, and she loves staying in the garden just to look at them. Blossoms of Aster koraiensis, a kind of chrysanthemum, and loosestrife fill the garden in the middle of August. The garden in located on the edge of Odaesan Mountain in Jinbu-myeon Pyeongchang-gun Gangwon-do. The garden is all the more excited, with famous actors and actresses such as Song Seung-Heon, Sohn Ye-Jin and Ryu Jin, on site for the filmmaking. Surrounded by visitors to the garden, these actors concentrated on acting, apparently unaffected by the surrounding fans.
Korea Botanic Garden mainly grows and tends native trees and flowers of Korea, and the garden sits in peace and quiet by Odaesan National Park. Once you reach Jinbu-myeon Pyeongchang-gun where the garden is located, take a bus to Wonjeongsa Temple (or Sangwonsa Temple), and get off at the National Park Office. You will see a signpost directing you into the garden. Walk about 1.2 km from the main road to the garden. You will enjoy the jolly sound from the valley right beside you while walking up. The garden in divided roughly into three main parts. The Ecological Garden where 1,100 different kinds of native plants in Korea grow, The Indoor Hall where rare kinds of insects and plants are displayed, and The Seasonal Garden which is located across the Indoor Hall. The Seasonal Garden is now in full bloom with Aster koraiensis and loosestrife. Little wild flowers dance in the fragrant breezes and in bright sunlight. You will be overwhelmed by the grand beauty of the endless field of little flowers. You can enter the site until the end of August.
The Ecological Garden has long paths within it, and visitors are free to walk around on the path and take pictures. The garden is beautiful with flowers: Nymphoides peltata, water lilies, and Lychnis wilfordii. Korea Botanic Garden alone is a good place to visit, but it is even more worth visiting with beautiful attractions nearby. Woljeongsa Temple (the headquarter of the fourth branch of Jogyejong, a sect of Buddism in Korea) and Sangwonsa Temple (the temple that has the oldest temple bell in Korea) are nearby.

    Travel Tips:
    - Food: When you ask a local in Pyeongchang for food recommendation, probably everyone will say you must try sanchae. There are about 20 different kinds of side dishes, many of them made of fresh green herbs.
    - Accommodation: There are numerous choices of accommodation for you: inns called yeogwan in Korea and motels. There is Hotel Odaesan on the way to Korea Botanic Garden and Sangwonsa Temple.

ya. lots of readings on this thread and i'm still stuck studying.
anyway. taking a break now to give you the "method"

    according to colette's post:
"Seung Hun would not hesitate to marry immediately if he meets the right person. He likes someone who is quiet, feminine and shy. Thus many joked that Ye Jin fits his expectations. He didn't really answer and only said that she had very attractive eyes."

so here is my "recipe" to get Seung Heon:
    1. asian is not enuff. you must speak korean
    2. you must be pretty (both face and body). but since he's surrounded by many pretty girls, your "beauty" must stand out. how about eyes as big and lovely as miss Angelina Jolie's? can't believe it, korean have small eyes, so even eyes as so typical as Ye Jin's are considered attractive by Seung Heon. So, if you have eyes like miss Jolie's, you will WOW him for sure. btw, i intensionally put "beauty" criteria # 2. even though Seung Heon didn't say anything about "beauty", i still think it's a very key ingredient to attract most guys.
    3. quiet. or at least talk less than him
    4. feminin. so trash away your tomboy outfits. learn to cook and piano (?)
    5. shy. hmm, can you pretend to be one at least (?) btw, blush from your makeup kit won't help.
    6. you must be in a profession where you can meet him often enough to get ... "intimate" or to pull ... your "subdue" flirtation (remember, it must be "subdue", or you won't be considered "shy" anymore).
    7. smart. again, he didn't say this, but i always think it's another key ingredient to nail a "good" guy. if a guy only prefers "stupid" girl then he's not worthy for you!
    8. charming. learn how to be wit and funny when needed to. this criteria can be summed up with "smart". smart people can be quite charming.
    9. talented. possess an admirable skill, like, singing, dancing, acting, a sport (doesn't he love sport?), etc. talented people can be very attractive. again, this can also be considered as part of being "smart"
    10. if you can't make all-of-the-above, then plan to meet him in ... YOUR DREAM.

so, can i have your check now?

    10. if you can't make all-of-the-above, then plan to meet him in ... YOUR DREAM.

anyway. taking a break now to give you the "method"

    according to colette's post:

YOUR DREAM.
