I agree with seungheoney, SSH and WB do not look too alienated with their military crew-cuts. Probably because we've seen them in very short hairdos before (SSH in popcorn/lawfirm, WB in taegukgi). I was more shocked looking at SJS pic. This's first time I saw his hair such short.

Interview with Mr. Nakahirita Keiko, producer of "Promise" from Actor's style

Meeting

I have known Mr. Seung Heon Song long and was thinking he would be popular in Japan someday.
I have even visited his office with some project. Later, I was surprised to find out that he
would be enlisted for army.
Other people plan and prepare for the service, but his case was different.
Everyday situation changed. His casting in Sad Lovesong was canceled and he was planning to wait
quietly until his enlistment date.
I went to see him thinking that he should not lose everything.
I told him to leave something if you meant it when you wrote a message to his fans.
He said "will fans like it if someone like me leave something for them?" (Seungheon felt really he had betraded his fans because of his military situation) but he agreed to leave a message after having conversation with me.

Shooting

Considering the situation and Seungheon's condition (recall Seungheon's military dodging scancal at the time), we processed everything secretly.
Oversea shooting was impossible, and we decided to shoot in Jeju island.
Seungheon gave me many ideas because he had experience in Jeju for Summer Scent.
It took time in preparation and I thought his condition and timing was not great, but he never
complained and he cooperated with me.
We didn't have enough time and the weather condition was terrible.
Pouring rain and heavy wind... we had to take photos only inside.
On the final day, we were supposed to shoot ruined house scenes as he hoped.
That morning, the previous day's terrible weather seemed a lie, it was a great day.
He said "We only did inside photos. Don't mind my ideas. let's go to a sea."
So we could take pictures with blue sky, sea, and beach.

Concept

Because it was his first photo project, we had long conversation with all staffs.
We decide to have a story and make photos like movie scenes.
He wanted to change his soft image and hoped to express his wild charisma, sexy man.
Because the actual Seungheon is very manly, we could shoot him naturally.
No shaving, very natural Seungheon was photographed.
We hired his regular stylist and hair designer. His stylist prepared clothes like what he wears.
When the final clothes were not decided, he decided by himself.
It was like a movie shooting, and he acted before and after shooting moments.
For "bar" scenes, he was saying something to make the feeling real.
There were always her (fan) in the scenarios.

Title

On the second day, I asked him to make the title for the photo book. He was surprised at first but
said "thank you, I will try".
When we were done I asked him again about the title at the airport. He was still thinking.
He murmered "promise" (yakusoku) while thinking.
"Promise, that's good." we decided on the title that way.
He wrote "promise" with his handwriting at the spot.
When I asked him what you promise, he wrote a message that "let's meet in 2 years".
After thiking for a while, he added "for sure".
He explained that this is his promise with his fans.
I think the word "for sure" has all the feelings.
"Promise" which has his feelings... My heart was heated.

Real Seungheon

Seungheon is cool and determined.
A little bit conservative and very clear in what he likes and hates and
express his opinions clearly. But he is never selfish. He is considerate and kind to others.
When we shoot scenes on bed, '3 men and 3 women' was on tv. He shyly changed channel saying
that it was his first work. He was lovely.

While eating, he talk about various things like his childhood, high school times, modelling,
the time when he visited Japan, work, and idealism on marriage.
At the time when he was most nervous before enlistment, he worked with me to make a photo book "promise".
I think this shows that he wanted to be responsible for his fans.
When he said "I am happy doing this and thank you", I was really happy.
I had a great time with him to want to thank him.

funny how he seems so thin in clothes but still look so muscular shirt off.

Yakusoku must be his last work before enlisting? i saw yakusoku listed on yesasia for $43. anyone knows what is in it? is there any DVD/CD or just photos?

btw. i remember seeing a clip on youtube with Rain singing on stage and Seung Heon sitting in the audience. do you know what event it was and when? Seung Heon appeared only in a flash second but he was so gorgeous that I was like gasping.

Very nice article and photos. Thanks.
He sounded really nice. I feel sorry for him that he felt really bad deserting his fans because of his draft dodging scandal. And despites his heavy mood, he still carried out this photo project for his fans. Heard he didn't earn anything doing this project because it's still part of the contract he signed before with japanese company.

Have you seen any Yakusoku making clip yet? It was not just simple posing for the camera, he really acted for the shooting to make it look natural. He was really adorable in those clips.
