By the way, Uchi, when salute to his fans in military way, SSH usually yelled out 2-syllable word. What was it that he yelled? Is it "Fighting"?

Hmm, the “envious” fan’s posts sound harrying. I’m curious how other HL fans responded to her post (?)

SSH’s army salute to his fans? Ya, I recall from clips in/out of his bootcamp, he gave military hand-salute to fans and reporters. What Korean soldiers usually shout during salutation is “필 승” (pil-seung), which means “surely win”.

I read from an article that SSH actually got criticized for hand-saluting with civilians. Military personnel in uniform are to salute when they meet person who’s entitled by military grade to this way of greeting only. It’s considered inappropriate otherwise. Oppa was a “fresh” soldier during his 100th day vacation. Probably touched by the warm welcome from fans who traveled long distance and waited for him in the cold , Oppa wanted to show his friendliness but didn’t fully comprehend the GI etiquette (?) Mistake is usually more tolerable to no-name than to a public figure. Oppa is a good learner though. Don’t you notice he no longer renders this salutation in public anymore? Rather, he made ... endless promises these days instead (another mistake ).

Cocolico and Maskofchina may be correct that Oppa should consult spcnet fans. Under spcnet management, he’ll probably get the right protection from silly faux-pas and stalking fans. Plus, his production can save lots of money on script writing, PD fees, and MV wardrobe for Oppa. If all fail, at least he’ll be hounded by fewer number of … pestering fans here than there.

    .......
Hmm. I couldn’t find anything from innolife related to the voting results you posted. But no biggy. The poll seems to be for electing the most popular drama in JP.

総投票数 (number of votes) : 807790
宮廷女官チャングムの誓いチーム (kyuutei nyokan changumu no chikai chiimu – The oath of a court lady) 628(0.1%)
ごめん、愛してるチーム (gomen, aishi teru chiimu – Sorry, I love you) 4202(0.5%)
夏の香りチーム (natsu no kaori chiimu – Summer scent) 439870(54.5%)

Btw, thanks for the articles on “A Better Tomorrow” remake, Colette. Don’t know how influential the voting is on the final casting call, but hope Oppa and LJK will get it. It’s challenging though for remake’s actors to outstrip or relive the splendid standards set forth by Run Fa and Leslie.

i wasn't very impressed w/ Korean team for the most part until the final 20 mins or so. very surprised why didn't they subs Ahn Junghwan in earlier and then when they did, they took Lee Chunsoo out
but i'm glad it was a push.
do you think S.Korean have strong chance for sweet-16? do you think it'll be tough for Korea to face Switzerland?
man, i sure wish at least one asian team make it in as far as possible. doesn't look like JP have the chance anymore. how could they be able to defeat Brazil in the next game.
I've been busy finishing up the school year.
But wouldn’t miss Korean’s or JP’s games for the same reason – wanted to see at least 1 Asian team IN as far as possible. Getting kinda tired watching Europe and S.America sweep the board all the times!

Ahn Junghwan is super but he may be one of those who drained out quickly; perhaps why they always reserve him for the last flurry minutes (?) Besides an incredible ball player, Lee Chunsoo is also the team’s spirit and strategist. Korean squad needed to save him before he’s overly worn out, makes stupid mistake, gets yellow-carded, and can’t enter the next match. Moreover, his role is to malfunction Zidane and ZZ was already out, so it was safe to leave only Junghwan and the rest to hold the court.
Korea got luck out though, because TV slow replay clearly showed Zidane's corner crossed the line when keeper Woonjae scrambled it away. Phew!

Feel so sorry for JP wrestled against the brawniest group and blew their first chance to the easiest out of the trio. Now, unless there’s a miracle (Brazil succumbs unconditionally … to lure in more loosers?), otherwise, I think JP ready to go home.

This Thursday US-Ghana would be an exciting game. I don’t want OUR home team go home so early!

Oh, S.Korea has no problem making sweet-16 from where they stand. Once in, facing the H’s is also not as challenging if you’d compare to other groups. But remember, after sweet-16, it won’t be round-robin anymore. I don’t have any confidence on S.Korea to make it all the way to final. But so far so good …. GGggOOooAAaaLLll …!!!

(sorry all for off the topic too. Oppa probably wouldn’t mind us cheering his home team )

so are you done now w/ your school?
hey. Switzerland tops G group now. Korea has to be careful if they loose for Swit and France score a lot against Togo on friday (which is possible 'cause Togo sucks!).

man. i can't wait for this friday games. PIL-SEUNG, S.Korea! (do i use the word correctly? )

I think so. It's the snipet of the 2-men show in 2001 celebrating SSH birthday.
PYH, SJS, and SSH were asked how they got acquainted with one another and SSH was telling the notorious "Are we gonna rise" story of SJS.

btw. Did anyone have problem accessing SPCNET during the past 24hrs? I think the server was down for sometime. I'm so happy that I can get back to the forum again. Was so concerned if server crashes and looses all our writings. Spent lots of energy on it, don't want to see it to waste.

Innolife must have updated their page. Thanks for the translation help, Uchi, really appreciate it. I thought it was another poll for his future projects. Just don't want to miss out on any chance to vote for him. It's interesting that Summer tops the chart in Japan when it's considered 2nd to the LEAST popular among PD Yoon's 4 season series. Also surprised to see Winter Sonata not on the list when Japan is so crazed for BYJ.
Anyway, I'm glad Oppa's work is being valued.

btw, just curious: can you speak and comprehend when people talk in Korean or you can mostly read and write? From what I've heard, it's much harder to carry out the conversation because Korean talk very fast and the spoken language is very different from writing. Is it true?

WHAT? Summer and Love Letter took most of the votes when Sorry I Love U is only .5%? this list is screwed! JP has quite different taste!

anyway, what's 'The oath of a court lady'? is it Dae Jang Geum?

i had problem accessing spcnet earlier today too. server suffers terminal disease?

Popularity based on number of TV viewers when the series were aired in Korea and copies sold had Winter Sonata tops the chart, followed by Fall Tale, then Summer, then Spring Waltz.
Winter Sonata also caused the biggest wave in JP and shot BYJ and CJW fames to the international stardom, from what I understand.

I haven't seen Spring Waltz yet. Thinking about renting it soon.

I haven't seen Spring Waltz either but Yoon's 4 are
    Autumn in my heart
    Winter Sonata
    Summer Scent
    Spring Waltz, right?
Is Oppa the only person that played 2 diff roles in 2 of the dramas? Yoon must've liked working with him...than again, who could resist Oppa's charms?

Yup and Yup. Fall Tale is aka Autumn in my heart. And Oppa is the only one in 2 season series. I've read an article that when heard Oppa to cast for Summer, Song Hyekyo called PD Yoon and expressed her desire to co-star again with SSH. But Yoon turned her down. His reason: he didn't want Summer to be viewed as Autumn 2. And that's also the reason why costume designer wanted to completely change Oppa's image to blond long hair and yippy clothes.

No HL fan responded to the interesting posts from the "envious" fan. It's probably good to handle it that way.

Didn't know Oppa got into trouble by saluting his fans in the army way. Thought it was cute when he did that. It's neat to see his transformation from actor to military man.

I'm not a big soccer fan but watch some games sometime. I'll try to make it this friday to cheer for Oppa's home team too. Ya, Pil-seung! (thanks for the new word).

btw, I've heard Oppa is promoted to Sargeant already. Isn't it because he didn't have his college degree otherwise he'd have become a 2nd or 1st lieutenant by now, is it? Am I right that Oppa never finished college?

Oppa is still in enlistment, his rank follows the enlisted ranks. Sargeant is the top rank that an enlisted soldier can get. The military ranking system in Korea is likely different from US, but I believe you can only become 2nd or 1st lieutenant when you finished with bootcamp and are an active army officer. I got this answer recently from a friend and that's how I know

Yeah, I don't think Oppa ever finished college. He dropped out during either 3rd or 4th year. He was last at Gyeonggi university and majoring in some source of engineering, computer graphics or computer visual media or something like that. From some interview transcripts I read, his academic performance was only so-so during school year. It's contradicting though, because he must have done not so bad in order to get admitted to an engineering major in college, isn't it? Anyway, it doesn't seem a college degree matter though, our Uchi and Maskofchina already qualified Oppa for a professor position at Oxford university . Guess education is not big a deal if you're blessed with a handsome face and hunky body, huh?

It's contradicting though, because he must have done not so bad in order to get admitted to an engineering major in college, isn't it? Anyway, it doesn't seem a college degree matter though, our Uchi and Maskofchina already qualified Oppa for a professor position at Oxford university . Guess education is not big a deal if you're blessed with a handsome face and hunky body, huh?
ohoh, you mean ... the hunk flunked college?

true though, i heard college entrance is very tough in many asian countries, let alone to enter a hot engineering major . so his IQ must at least be above average.

and ya, who'd need a college degree when he's already minting millions of dollars.

Oppa is a real blessing fella. He got luck, love, look, money, fame, a troop of sworn brothers, and an army of fans to care for his health, future projects, and … his IQ.

Guys, rest assured that Oppa is truly qualified for the Korean professor position at Oxford. Knowing how prestige the position is, a brain-jabbing interview was exhaustedly conducted (including days of mountain climbing in sleeveless shirts with heavy fans piggy-ridden on the back). Plus, to ensure equal opportunity, we scoured the world top who’s-whos for candidates. Amongst the finalists, there were also Arnold Schwarzenegger and Brad Pitt.

Arnold failed immediately when we asked for the name of his state and he answered “Caniforn…nia”.

Brad’s background looks pretty impressive. He claims to be multilingual because his wife adopted children from around the world. However, in considering his children names – Maddox, Zahara, and Shiloh, we were concerned if they are proper English or … misspelled (?)

Oppa’s resume, on the other hand, is undoubtedly remarkable:
    - A proficient and Olympic-built swim instructor in 3men-3women (1996-1998)
    - An assiduous prosecutor/crime investigator in Happy Together (1999)
    - A talented art professor/painter of grieves in AIMH (2000)
    - head-of-class and hard-working lawyer in Law Firm (2001)
    - An adroit art director/architect/wall painter in Summer (2003)
    - Studied abroad (in US during AIMH, and Italy during Summer)
    - Went to … school … in 3men, Make It Big, Ice Rain, and Guy Is Cool.
    - A poet of romance (published numerous love letters to fans world-wide. Multiple editions sold out in JP).
    - Mastered the art of upside-down flower arranging (according to Maskofchina). Oppa promised (another promise!) to help transform every class rooms in Oxford to “Propose rooms”.
    - Cooked rice-porridge in Summer, Chige in AIMH, and Tokbokki in Ice Rain (This is a neat extra skill. Will come in handy when university cafeteria shorts of staffs).
    - Most important … Oppa speaks fluent Korean

Oppa passed days of … senseless … I mean … endless … interview questions. The interview team finally were struck dumb and gave in when he … took off his shirt (just like what he did in Summer) and said “Now, I’ll let you do a close physical examination on me”

Besides, despite dropping out of college, Oppa continues to learn while on the jobs. Look, he … READS ….

okay, okay, oppa is qualified. lol, i'm totally convinced.
    such scholarly resume oppa has!
and that's a very thorough screening process you designed for oppa.
nice proof of oppa "studying" on the jobs too.

btw, did you end up give him a "close physical examination"? who else were in the interview team? boy, i missed my chance. if i knew ahead, i'd apply for a position in the interview team too.
