Meh - Did you really mean "if she played the role..." or did you mean to say "if she DIDN'T play the role.."

If she did play the role. Otherwise, SRR just doesn't appear enough in the books for me to really like her. I do like her in Adam Cheng's adaptation, though.

What role did Cynthia Khan (Yang Li Qing) play in Chor Lau Heung 1995 with Adam Cheng? She wasn't any of Chor's 3 maids. This actress played Mulan in 1998's Heroine. I liked her character. Also Ren Ying Ying after Anita Yuen's performance.

Well, just want to mention some less famous characters:

I like Lu Wushuang (ROCH), her relationship with Yang Guo somehow seemed more natural to me than Yang Guo/Xiaolongnü. I like Xiaolongnü too, of course, but Lu Wushuang is kinda cute in a naughty, vivid way.

Her cousin Cheng Ying is also a wonderfull girl. She's very nice and kind-hearted, she is very pretty and well educated in martial, literary and esoteric arts as well as in music.... now I think about it, she's almost perfect!

Miao Ruolan of Flying Fox of Snow Mountain is also one of my favorites, she is such a brave and intelligent girl.

But the best female character is Madame Hu, wife of Hu Yidao and mother of Hu Fei. She is a real heroine, and in my opinion, better than ROCH Huang Rong in many ways.

    1. Huang Rong: she's smart, intelligent, a good cooker..but pity that in her later life, she became irrational (she loved her daughter too much that she didn't punish her stupid daughter)

    2. Lai Seng Lam (Shen Nan)->story by LYS. A girl who will do anything to achieve her dream.

    3. Huo Qing Tong had a good character, but too bad that she didn't eat pork...that make me a little bit bias to her

    4. Zhao Min: she's smart. But I think that to a certain degree she's quite annoying. I can say that she has a sharp tongue!

Ah Zhu from Tian Long Ba Bu is the best. She is kind, caring and humorous (man, that time when she disguised as Qiao Feng is hilarious) and most tragic. Why did such a nice person have to die? *sighs*

JY certainly made it quite clear that both girls are very smart. It's probably the TV series that downplayed their intelligience.

I'm kind of trying to figure out who I like more. Ah Zhu or Tin Shan Tone Low. As a spouse, I definitely would pick Ah Zhu, but as a female, I just like Tone Low so much that I'll pick her.

I like her for her stubborness, bossy nature, bad attitude, secludedness, and a damn powerful woman! I guess I like her cause she's me in a way.

I pick Kwok Seung after. I don't know, I guess I just like her innoncence.

Then it would be Ah Zhu, follow by Ching Ying. Her gentle nature is what gets to me. It also doesn't hurt that she's a looker. Siu Chao and Seung Yee are good too, but they're not very realistic. I would love to have women like that, but it's asking for too much from a woman. Luk Moe Seung is next. I think she's cute in a fiesty kind of way.

And then there's a whole bunch afterwards like the fragile, or soft types.

my favorite female character has got to be Huang Rong...no one even comes close to her. I think if I have only read the book, i would not like her so much, but i'm influenced by Barbra (LOCH83) too much. She's my favorite actress and Huang Rong's my favorite favorite character.

Huang Rong seemed annoying to me at first; bratty, spoilt, and bossy. But later her cunning witty nature and care for Guo Jing impressed me.

My favorite is definitely Wong Yung from LOCH. She's cute, smart, fearless and gets her way! On a sentimental note, I also like Ah Chu from DGSD, but it was so sad that she died.
