Huang Yi has been around for quite some time, ToOn, so he also cannot be considered new.

I haven't been in the forum for a while and just found this thread. It's a topic I'm particularly interested in at the moment. I'll be giving a presentation about wuxia fiction to a class on Asian literature soon. But I'd like to talk about the wuxia genre as a whole, not just Jin Yong and Gu Long.

All the fiction we tend to discuss here was written 30 or 40 years ago. Are there any authors writing wuxia genre fiction within the last 10 years? Has novel writing been replaced by graphic novels? Or has this genre of literature largely died out?

I know a newer wuxia writer called Xiao Ding (萧鼎) whose Zhi Xian (诛仙) novels were quite popular. I haven't read his novels myself though.

Other popular wuxia writers beside Gu Long and Jin Yong are Liang Yu Sheng (梁羽生), Huang Yi (黃易) and Wei Rui An (溫瑞安). Liang Yu Sheng was the contemporary of Jin Yong and Gu Long and has recently passed away. Huang Yi and Wen Rui An are newer batch but still not new. They have been around for quite some time already. For female wuxia writer, you can check out Cang Yue (沧月).

Yeah, there are definitely new writers. I've translated short stories by many of them already, though those aren't big name writers, except for Cang Yue.

There's:

Cang Yue
Zheng Feng (supposedly the female Jin Yong)
Shi Wei Han
Feng Ge
Chen Mo (just saw one of his new books in the bookstore a couple weeks ago)
Bu Feiyan
Jiangnan
Sun Xiao

And others that I just don't know the names of, but I saw at least five different authors a couple weeks ago at the bookstore (Taiwan)
