Default What are the super kung fu of GL?

JY's skill sare world-famous but what about GL?

What are the best kung fu in GL and how do you think they should rank? BTW, I know it's probably even harder to separate the man from his skill in GL than JY but do try.

It's not too difficult. The hard part is that there are too many to remember. The idea that GL did not describe martial arts in depth only applies to a subset of his stories and is an overgeneralization. Some good skills I recall offhand...

    Internal Energy Arts
    - Jia Yi Shen Gong, Ming Yu Gong, Wu Xiang Shen Gong, Xian Tian Gang Qi

    Sword Styles
    - Duo Ming Shi Wu Jian, Tian Wai Fei Xian

    Some Misc Intersesting Styles
    - Wu Jue Shen Gong, Yi Hua Jie Yu, Xian Tian Wu Ji, Liu Yang Shen Zhang, Da Mo Shi Ba Shi

And there are MANY more I haven't bothered to write down. Mainly because the names I remember are ones from novels I've read more recently (or are staples of the GL universe).

For example, I'm currently reading Tale of a Remarkable Sword. I'm only halfway through but so far, the hero Rui Wei has learned:

    Internal Strength
    - Gui Xi Da Gong (Great Tortoise Suppressing Skill)
    - Tian Yi Shen Gong (Heavenly Garments Kung Fu)

    Hing Gung
    - Fei Long Ba Bu (Eight Steps of the Flying Dragon)

    Empty Hand Styles
    - Xuan Miao San Shi Zhang (30 Palms of Profound Mystery)
    - Hua Shen Zhang (Spirit Converting Palm)

    Sword Styles
    - Tian Luo San Zhao (Three Stances of the Celestial Net)
    - Tian Dun Jian Fa (Heaven Concealing Sword Technique)
    - Hai Yuan Jian Fa (Deep Sea Sword Technique - 8 Swords)
--- Wu Di Jian (Invincible Sword)
--- Bu Po Jian (Unbreakable Sword)
--- Da Yu Jian (Foolish Sword)
--- Hong Shui Jian (Flood Sword)
--- Sha Ren Jian (Murderous Sword)
--- Da Le Jian (Joyous Sword)
--- Shang Xin Jian (Heartbreak Sword)
--- Da Long Jian (GrandDragon Sword)
And he learned these through the course of the novel and was not "invincible" starting out (another common misconception about GL heroes..).

Readers exposed to a wide range of GL novels will recognize that there are plenty of martial arts within. And some rich interconnections between novels as well. For example, Wu Hu Duan Men Dao is a style that crops up over and over again in GL novels. It is a well respected style in the martial world, but isn't much when compared to the styles of individual heroes/villains (which reflects GL's greater emphasis on the individual vs. establishment... someone (Laviathan, I believe) posted a very interesting analysis a long time ago about how GL heroes reflect Taoist beliefs, JY reflects Buddhist, and LYS reflects Confucionism... but I digress). However, in the current novel I'm reading, I discover it's origin and how it is only based off of the first stance of Deep Sea Sword Technique, the Invincible Sword. To a GL afficionado like myself, that's as interesting as discovering the origin of 9 Yang.
