If you can "break" the 9 weapons with a sword, technically couldn't you break them using other weapons as well? Like say a spear, whip, chopsticks? The sword is simply a preferred weapon for a user, not a requirement. The philosophy behind the Dugu 9 swords seem to be universal for all weapons.





Isn't the sword the most romanticised weapon in wuxia fiction? All or most of the heroes use it. Such favoritism.

Not all of the 9 stances are designed to break weapons.

hey, if u use dugu's last stage of "sword w/o sword" then you might as well use anything as sword, and therefore, anything to break everything else

i agree with S Beaver (which is a name, by the way, which cracks me up). however, i think the techniques for DG9J need a sword, or a swordlike object to be successful --- something light and agile. because each stance is designed with using the sword in mind, the reach/weight/flexibility of the sword must factor in heavily with the way the stance is used. im not saying that you couldn't do much of the same things with, say, a spear...but definitely not all of the same moves. they would have to be modified...which would be possible if you were YG, king of modded kungfu.

i should teach that guy how to fix up imports...
