And Ruby didn't get a big break from playing Zi Wei? HZGG was a huge hit, and basically marked the first big debuts of Vicki, Ruby, and Alec. I don't see how you can say one was lucky but the others were not.

But that doesn't matter, because as you can tell, all her previous works were obscure, and she got her first break in HZGG. In fact, Ruby wasn't even part of HZGG originally, because Shui Ling was asked to play Zi Wei, after Vicki turned down the role of Zi Wei (which she was originally asked to play) to play Xiao Yan Zi. Then, Shui Ling dropped out, because she had signed onto another series, and Ruby was brought in. So, luck played a very big part in all the main cast of HZGG. It's not like it's taking away from the acting skills of the cast by saying that they got their start by luck. It's just a common occurence. I mean, how many talented celebrities are out there? And out of those, how many achieve success? And it's all based on a debut series.

I agree with you 100% Tei. Ruby and the rest of the cast got lucky. There are many talented stars out there but they just don't get lucky at all. I wish SL did play Zi Wei then, but too bad she was too busy to...

All three of them just got lucky. Vicki was still in school, I'm not sure about Ruby since I didn't care to look her up, but I'll trust what someone said about her being a model. Wasn't she a singer also? And Alec was already well known, but was suffering from a slump in his career, and HZGG revitalized it.

She was a model that acted in some roles in movies.... No, she wasn't a singer. Ruby can't sing at all... But I heard that Ruby's popularity is going down since she has not improved at all.. I don't like her either but I just hear about her....

Who said Ruby's fame is going down? Obviously only from your mouth!!! THere's no proof except from something "you heard." Have you gotten or hear her singing yet from the newest album "TV Series 18 springs Soundtracks?" Then you will see alot of improvement.

Also what do you mean by stating "popularity is going down since she has not improved at all.. " Are you referring to her on TV or in live promotions. If she hasnt improved at all, why is she still one of the hottest stars out there after this year her 8th year in the Asian Entertainment Circle. Her recent series "Boy and Girl" co-star LuYI broke the Spring CCTV's ratings record beating all other channels. "Eighteen Springs" drama was rated second in Shanghai TV for last year with an average audience of 17%. Also Flying Knife was broadcasted Taiwan's most popular TV channel.
I just dont understand what is your meaning of improving? I bet her newest drama with Korean actor Han Jae Suk (Love of Wisteria) will give you guys another surprise. For her latest album, Ruby went on promotions acroos mainland to multiple of cities. From pictures and videos, you can certainly see her influence and impact to ther common audience.



If you still dont see any improvement in her, I hope you've seen her perseverance, hard work, and character in trying to reach and achieve higher goals and satifying the audience's expectations.

Ruby does sing. She has one or two albums, and I know for sure one of them came out after HZGG, but I wasn't sure about the other one. See, I saw the picture, and I just thought it was pre-HZGG because it was really different from how she looked after she came out from HZGG. I could be wrong though. She's not the best singer, but she does have a few good songs.

As for popularity, that's a hard thing to guage. There's always going to be someone that dislikes a celebrity, even the "most popular" ones. Being more of a Vicki fan than a Ruby fan myself, I can say honestly that I, too, thought Ruby's popularity was decreasing because I don't hear much about her these days. However, that could just be because I don't pay much attention to her unless her news is thrown in my face.

Heh, there's no need to offend or get offended in here, so I hope fpdiamond doesn't have any hard feelings against Trinie for what she said.

Although I do have to say one thing; it's always been my belief, as an audience, that a truly talented artist wouldn't need to promote himself. His works and talent would speak for themselves. *shrugs* Not quite sure if it works in the entertainment industry though...

fpdiamond was not rude she was just telling the truth Ruby's fame is NOT going down ...anyway you don't follow Ruby's latest series and news so how can you say she's playing the same roles over and over that's NOT true ,she played many diffrent roles the two same roles were only in HZGG&QSSYMM guess you haven't seen other Ruby's series that's why you saying that ...

No I have seen her other works and a majority of them are the same roles(since I don't watch a series just for the cast). I admit that she does play some different roles,but most of them weren't that great.... Like I said, I actually do know quite a bit about her news since her news is associated with other stars that I like.
fpdiamond has the right to say what he/she wants, but I didn't think the way he/she was saying it was that productive. nothing Ruby related, but I think it's WAY too vague of an assumption that ALL stars work hard..HA, I doubt that.....some of them don't even have the slightest bit of talent, but just eat up the money w/ their good looks and then do idiotic stuff w/ all that money they earn

Well...it's harder than you think to be a celebrity. Most of us see the glamor, but not all of us see the work behind it. Even if they're not as hard-working, I have to admire them just for being able to smile all the time in public, not lose their temper when fans mob them, and wear make-up and look "good" all the time.

I personally find that exhausting.

And please, let's not get into another fight over Vicki and Ruby again...debates are fine, but pointless arguments are going to start occuring if it's not toned down a bit.

why thank you for the assumption that I can't think.... duh obviously, there is the hard part...but that does not apply to everyone....there are tonz of celebs w/ majorly messed up lives who do drugs and waste their money being idiots or peodiphiles or god-knows-what...the world isn't all the innocent and full of "hard work"..and not all of them smile 24/7, sure it may apply to a lotta of them, but I was just pointing out that it doesn't apply to ALL...meaning exceptions

well, we dont want to have a Ruby vs. Vicky fight breaking out again, right? So everyone, keep things down a bit. Since you guys are discussing Ruby at the moment, I'm a little tempted to share my opinions about her also.

I dont really think Ruby's popularity decreased, people still know and notice her, dont they? I think stars dont really need to publicize and try to promote themselves every single minute on ET news or activities to try to stay hot. We know that actors and actresses dont have the time like most singers do which their jobs are mainly realated to promotions and performances. So it's common to not see that much intensifying discussions or news during filming periods. But I believe with her stable fame right now, her works coming out should most likely going to be successful. Most TV channels still buys her copyrighted dramas and the common audience still supports it. So I guess we should be talking about fame and not popularity, or the whole matter will get confusing. I've seen a couple of her recent series, I thought she did pretty well in all of them, there was alot of improvement in her acting from the ZiWei character especially in 18 springs. The theme songs that Ruby sang for 18 springs TV series were soothing to the plot but I'm still downloading her newest album, so no comment for right now.

Doing any job and trying to reach paragon is hardwork, hardwork, and hardwork. So we should respect each and every one of them. They strive hard to attain to another level and bring us the best entertainment.

I admit fpdiamond was a little too direct in expressing herself. Trinie, dont take it too hard. I guess she's just trying to make things clearer. Instead, it went down the baffling way. She's was a little rude replying back to you maybe because she didnt know that you are already exposed to Ruby's newest matters. I dont think she really did it on purposely to pick an argument with you.

every heard of reading b/w the lines? I am also "merely" pointing out that it's quite evident most ppl. realize being a celebrity is more than just the glam...

and besides, no one ever asked them to go around smiling all day or doing stupid things for this so-called "Escape"...so whoz fault is it if they mess up? cry me a river...if they're miserable, too bad considering the fact that they bring it upon themselves once they get into the business, so they'll hafta just deal w/ it
