Perfect vs Flawed

Perfect vs Flawed Characters?

Which do you like better and why?
Which do you dislike more and why?

Perfect beauty or gentleman or all powerful fighter? Too much luck in life? All knowingness?

This includes Jin Yong and Gu Long characters. I'm not sure if this has been discussed before but I'd like to have it discussed.

I don't know what exactly is the 'qualities' of a 'perfect hero' though.

most characters (at least main characters) have flaws....

i do think that "perfect" chars would be quite annoying though. no challenge...no place for improvement, and much much more unrelatable. perhaps it could be jealousy

. but then again, everyone's idea of "perfect" is different

most of gu long's chars seem to be much more irritating. well, i just find that chars who can predict everything that'z about to happen to be pretty irritating...JY has much less of these type chars.

I don't think there's such a thing as a perfect hero. Even the best heroes are ultimately only human, and thus flawed in some ways.

I know some perfect characters annoy some people but don't some flawed characters annoy them to the point that you want to slap them?

I think GJ and XF has the closest to a perfect personailty in JY's world for a 'hero'. Anyone with opinions?

No Jin Yong hero is perfect.

Guo Jing = Too stubborn
Yang Guo = Too hot tempered
Xiao Feng = Too aggressive
Zhang Wuji = Too wishy washy
Xu Zhu = Too stupid
Duan Yu = Stalker boy
Linghu Chong = Dunno much about him

As for Gu Long heroe's, there are several of them who seem to be perfect. However the one guy that really seems to stick out from the rest in terms of martial arts and mentality is Shen Lang.

Zhang Sanfeng's personality is better

Z3F also wasn't perfect too. After his diciple died, he sort of became a little discriminating ot evil sect members too. Although it is understandable, and it wasn't close to any extreme level, he is still not a perfect taoist.

I prefer flawed characters. Perfect characters are too unreal for me to read. Imagine, how boring it is to read a character that can do no wrong?

What do u mean by

If a character has only one of these qualities, he/she wouldn't be considered perfect. Or are u asking us to choose which characteristic we prefer?

That is no personailty flaw. He has good enough judgment to know that HR is smarter than him.
