Thanks for the pix! I just saw her in Mo Jian Sheng Si Qi with Tony Sun, but I didn't really like her character that much. It is sad to know that she is now retired. I have a feeling that there is one day she may come back to acting....

Or vice versa. Liu Tao's husband is actually younger than her.

I don't know IF you have noticed or not, but actresses either marry someone really rich OR another actor/singer/director that is in the circle. I have yet to see an actress that wil marry a normal citizen. However, I have seen a lot of actors marry normal citizens, but I still have not seen an actress marry a normal citizen. I wonder if that will ever happen??

Congrats to Liu Tao and I am shocked that she was allowed to give birth to her son in the US. She already has her second child? I guess her husband wants her to do something since she is no longer acting.

Why is it shocking for her to give birth in America? Her daughter was also born in the U.S. And I think she gave up acting to focus more on having a family, not the other way around.

I was shocked because I heard that that was heavily discouraged. I think I heard that Alyssa Jia tried to do that as well, but then a lot of people opposed it. Therefore, she decided to give birth to her daughter in Shanghai(I think, if I remember correctly) instead. I heard that a lot of people do that so that their children can get american citizenship which will benefit them in the future if they want to immigrate to the US. I remember this one case(my mom told me about it) that this one couple(who were not former celebrities nor were they rich) did the same thing. But then a lot people back in their home country got angry at the couple for going to the US for vacation and then giving birth there just to get American citizenship. The couple felt ashamed, so they said that they would return the American citizenship. However, it was not up to the parents because the citizenship was not theirs. They said that when the child reaches 18, that is when they decide what citizenship they want.

I think Liu Tao and her husband may have another motive for doing so. Maybe one day they hope to immigrate to the US or have their children immigrate here?? Therefore, being born with American citizenship is the way to go.....Or else why would they go through all of this trouble to come to the US to give birth??

Personally, I don't see what the big deal is. Their primary motive may be exactly as you say, but so what? The kids were born in a jus soli country and unless the law is changed, they did nothing illegal. Whatever motives or reasons third parties have for frowning upon their decision may not be any more admirable.

Well, I can see why it is a big deal for many people(but yea, I personally don't see what the big deal is either, but you and I are a very small portion of the population) so I think one day there will be a law that will make it illegal to do so. However, if it is someone that has a high position in the government that frowns upon this, then it will be a big deal and I bet a law will be passed to make it illegal one day soon. THat is what a lot illegal immigrants are trying to do to stay in the US as well so I think the system will get strict with this issue pretty soon.

Well apparently the "many" you speak of don't yet outnumber the majority (or at least the majority who have significant say in the decision making, although technically, in a democratic society, they are the most representative of the voting public relative to other governments). Of course there are high ranking officials who are opposed to ju soli, as there have already been unsuccessful attempts to abolish it in the U.S. As for the issue in general respective of illegal immigrants, I'm actually for amending the law to provide citizenship to the child only if at least one parent is a citizen, as it has already been done in some other countries. I just don't see why it's a big deal in this particular case. I guess being a celebrity, she and her family are under more scrutiny than your average Joes and Janes.

I guess so... I heard that Jimmy Lin's girlfriend just did the same thing. She just gave birth to a boy in the CA, USA too... Hm... I did not say it is a big deal, but I must say that why does she get a special priviledge over the average Joe or average Jane just because she was a former actress? I totally agree with you about only giving the citizenship to the child only if at least one of the parents are a citizen. I think if illegal immigrants are trying this just to stay in the US, the US will work even harder to abolish it.

Liu Tao wasn't an illegal immigrant and I doubt Jimmy's girlfriend was either when they gave birth in the U.S. How is that any different from an average Jane doing the same thing during a legal stay in the U.S.? If anything, famous people receive more scrutiny than those who are not. How is that a special "privilege?"

I guess... In Liu Tao or Jimmy's girlfriend's case, they are not citizens at all nor do they even live in the US. Even though illegal immigrants are "illegal" at least they have lived here for some time. Liu Tao and Jimmy's gf just come here to give birth and then their child just gets citizenship. I honestly don't know why the US allows people from overseas to do that. I am not just saying celebrities, but everyone in general.

What the illegal immigrants are doing is like driving around before obtaining a driver's license and then crying foul after they're arrested for driving without a license since they already know how to drive from years of "practice." At least Liu Tao did things in the right order and via legal means. It's very possible that her kids will live in the U.S. one day and it's easier to obtain citizenship now, especially before current laws are changed.

Right, because Liu Tao and her millionaire hubby can't afford the monetary penalty for having more than one child in China. Or they found it inconvenient to get around the law by having one in China and the other in the U.S.

I lived in America for so long i feel as though this country is so out of order. Not that i want to offend the illegal people that lives here but they flooding this country and most of all, they dont pay taxes. Now obama is issuing health care to them when they dont even pay taxes, we do!.. But anyway about my rant, i'm not surprise that American would let foreigners get this stupid policy. So what if the child is born here. The parents are not citizen here, how does it make sense that you get citizen when you were just born in a hospital and does not live here. yea i'm done..lolz

Liu tao should slow down on the kids. She had one right after she married now another one. I mean that guy is trying to make her loose her figure so she couldn't come back to acting or what!

    Who's jimmy lin's girlfriend?

I know what you mean. I am also surprised that America would let foreigners do this as well. I have heard that in HK, even if you are born there, you don't really get recognized as a citizen(or something like that) unless you live there for a certain number of years. I think that makes more sense and is more fair. I find it strange that you just get citizenship just because you are born here and have never lived here day of your life.

Jimmy Lin's girlfriend is a girl named Kelly Chen Ruo Yi. I am not sure if it is true that she has given birth to a baby boy here or not. Everyone is waiting for more news to see if it is true or not.

I think it is smart of her to do it now before the current laws get changed and become more strict. The US government learns from their mistakes. There are policies that used to be so easy going, however, are now so strict because people kept on taking advantage of them and doing things "illegally" behind their backs. This may well be one of them that will not be allowed in the near future.

I am not sure if it is because her husband can't afford it. They think that giving birth to their children in the US will automatically grant them US citizenship while others have to fight hard for it.
