I just finished this series... and I have to say it was one of the better Jin Yong remakes I have seen so far. The only thing I didn't like was how they jumped around from character to character, sometimes completely throwing me off on what the plot is about. Overall, it was good though
And does anyone know the song they played when Ah Zhu died? I really like that song
1st time poster here, so excuse me for butchering the names, should I mention any.
I've just started watching this on www.fy16.com (a PPV site, about 20USD for the whole 40 episodes). The way they chose to show the backstory at the beginning kinda threw me off (not to mention the guy they picked to play Qiao Feng's father looked like a common thug), but otherwise I think it's all right so far. You can hardly ever ask for a "perfect" novel adaptation, and my only other basis for comparison far as Jing Yong's works go is the LOCH series from the late 80s.
Did anyone think the CG animals were a riot? They might as well use hand puppets.
One question out of curiosity. Much earlier I heard that they considered Zhang Ziyi for one of the roles, anyone remembers which?

Does anyone know where I can get ahold of Yang Wang?
And yeah haha that was Qiao Feng without much hair.
Oops I did forget about that, no wonder...Originally Posted by hazed
I dunno, in my mind Qiao Feng always looked more heroic and manly. It's not enough to just have unruly long hair.
Having not watched any period drama for a long time, especially wuxia, I find it hard to get over the cheeseyness in some of the action and dramatic scenes. I guess it's just easier to write about exaggerated reactions instead of act them out. Same for superhuman feats of physical ability. It definitly takes a certain cultural background to appreciate these shows.

i thougt this whole show was cheesy...it gave me goosebumps
very fake comp animation, matrix attemps...werid things like dat. the dramatic scene with the ah zhu's death was good but the entire thing was kinda depressingly werid...(not as good as SOD, in my opi.)
How I feel about you doesn't matter. It's you who has to live with yourself.

someone was saying on this thread that jimmy lin's wrinkled face as contrast with Liu Yi fei's youth and freshness threw her off a little. I always thot Jimmy was youthful looking (he's about 30 right?) since he started out. However, yesterday, I caught an episode and I too saw the contrast...time really waits for no one..he has aged..by contrast, LYF is so young and fresh! and she's pretty!
I think the 2 prettiest Chinese actress from the new generation are her and Yang Mi.

yeah, i agree. They could have made the whole thing a lot more realistic - I mean, yeah, sure, a movie in which everyone's flying around the screen is kinda hard to film, but still... It could have been better. The plot was brilliant, however... Very unpredictable, twists right where you think it won't go.Originally Posted by Mengda3chow

Too true, too true. A lot stronger in character, and more vivid than the others. Pity there wasn't more about her in the movie... They emphasized Wang Yuyan too much, in my opinion - but maybe that's just because I don't really like her...

Damn. That's so annoying.Originally Posted by relive

I finished TLBB recently and have a few questions (spoilers):
1) Liu Mai Shen Qian how come it seems only Duan Yu could master it (although not perfectly)? How about the rest of the monks and his uncle at the Tian Long temple?
2) The Yi Gen Jing belonging to Shaolin temple was dropped by Qiao Feng and picked up by You Tan Zhi who learnt it and increased his prowess. How come it ended with the monk Jiu Mo Zhi who gave it to Duan Yu in the well?
how come you dan zhi painted his face to hide his "ugliness" after removing the mask? in the tvb version, he wore a hat..strange this mainland version
