The Greatest Martial Artist of the Jin Yong Universe

Who do you think are the 5 greatest martial artist? not the most powerful, but greatest. How easy was it for them to adapt, combine, create, etc. I've heard many say that ZSF is the greatest.

1) Z3F - Tiaji fist, Taiji Sword, Wudang Long fist etc
2) HS - 9 Yin
3) DGKB - DG9J, and other sword techniques
4) Sweeper Monk - (?) Perfect algamation of Shaolin's technique?
5) WCY - All Cheun Zhen techniques esp Xian Tian Gong, Big Dipper Formation

Not mentioning TSTL's master of Xiao Yao Pai, and the eunuch who created KHBD, Dali Duan's founder of 6MSJ, Murong founder, Ming Sect members *(not named in novel).

QF + XZ was for the redesigning of the XL28Z into XL18Z.
ZBT - L/R techniques, Vacant Fist
HYS- All Peach Blossom Techniques
OYF- Ha Mo Gong plus other poisons.

as to the best kungfu creator of all time:

1. Damo, creator of shaolin arts

as for the first, i think that goes without explanation. there's a reason why the saying goes: "all the world's martial arts branch from shaolin". there is also a reason why shaolin is the most famous martial arts school of all time. it just goes without saying, because of these other guys (besides Z3F) aren't real. shaolin has proven their worth.

2. Huang Shang, creator of 9yin

as an internal cultivation technique, i don't believe 9yin to be any better than 9yang, or even the torrent training by YG. (this is arguable, and frankly i don't care if people mix that order up. it's just my personal opinion...i think they're all about equal.) however, the martial arts of 9yin are AMAZING. YG at 18 is able to sap the strength from OYF's palm strike using one move of 9yin. check it out:

YG didn't even master 9yin, and he could stop OYF at 18. that's pretty good for me.

3. Dugu Qiu Bai

and DGQB...i can't say enough. i'm a big huge dugu fan, i guess, and that's why i rate him so highly. i can't help but be in awe of someone so powerful that even his PET is a world-class martial artist.

4. Zhang San Feng

come on. from two little statues and a 3rd of 9yang, he's able to make his clan rival SHAOLIN within his lifetime. that's just...impossibly good.

5. the Creator of beggar clan kungfu

well, 2 of the best heroes in the JY universe use XL18Z...and 2 (well, 3 including YG) more heroes use dogbeating stick. these are two of the best kungfus in the world...if i left this guy out, it would be a travesty. i mean, XF, GJ, and H7G...all students of beggar clan. need i say more?

sidenote: if you're going to mention WCY, you must also admit that LCY was a better kungfu theorist than he was. true, in terms of actual martial arts WCY was above LCY. however, LCY was able to break ALL of WCY's theories using her OWN ingenuity, while WCY had to rely on 9yin to defeat her. therefore, it would stand that theorywise, LCY is the better martial artist.

if there was a number 6, i'd give it to YG and his sadpalms. how the hell did he think to use his CHEST to attack? and all of his limbs at once? and a kick that you can't see (stealth kick or something)? jeez, that's ingenuity.

When Kiu Fung attacked the Sweeper Monk with the 18 Subdueing Dragon Palms in Chapter 43. "Such a talented piece of skill! 18 Subdueing Dragon Palms is unmistakably the world's greatest."

Wong Gim Tung taught Kiu Fung the 18 Subdueing Dragon Palms.

I think the monk who created 9 Yang could be credited in this category.

You have to hand it to Huang Shang to be one of the greatest geniuses in the Jinyong universe. I mean he created the most sought-after martial arts manual in the Song-Yuan dynasties. Even self-respecting martial arts prodigies like Huang Yaoshi and Ouyang Feng spent much effort trying to get that manual despite their own pride and skills in their kungfu. Even though it took most of his life creating that work, its still pretty impressive, creating something that holds so much power, at least in terms of the trilogy.

Interestingly, Jin Yong has never commented on the origins of these martial arts in the later editions of his novels (when 1 Yeung Finger Technique first appeared in the Jin Yong canon in LOCH during the 1950s, it was a creation of Central Divinity Wong Chung Yeung's, but the publication of DGSD and the subsequent editing of LOCH has established that the technique originated with the Deun Royal Family of Dali Kingdom). Who was that first "Deun" family member who invented the techniques? How and why did he create them?

Who knows, but consider this: Damo's famous visit to the Shaolin Temple occurred in A.D. 520, while the Dali Kingdom as we saw it in DGSD and L/ROCH was not founded until A.D. 937 (over four hundred years later).
