We've debated fights between their descendants to death, but how do the ORIGINAL "Gwok Dai Hup" and "Yeung Dai Hup" from the beginning of LOCH match up against each other in man-to-man combat?

Here's your answer KEN ... (from Moin's translation)
The Taoist ignored him and grabbed the wine bottle. Pouring and drinking, he downed three cups in a row. Then he suddenly took off his bamboo had and cape and threw them on the ground. Guo XiaoTian and Yang TieXin looked him over carefully. The Taoist is about 30 or so, squared face with slanted eyebrows and a hint of redness. His eyes were bright and piercing. Next he untied the leather bundle on his back and threw it on the table. Immediately, Guo XiaoTian and Yang TieXin jumped up. Because from the leather bundle rolled out a bloody human head!
Bao XiRuo screamed in fear and ran into the back room. Yang TieXin felt his chest to make sure the dagger is in place. The Taoist gave the leather bundle a shake and 2 more bloody objects fell out: a heart and a liver. From the looks of them they are probably not pig heart and pig liver but very likely to be human. Yang TieXin shouted: "Taoist bastard!" as he took out the dagger and thrusted it towards the Taoist's chest.
The Taoist snickered: "Eagle Talon. So you want to fight now?" He lightly hit Yang TieXin's wrist with his left hand. Yang TieXin felt a numbing pain in his wrist as his fingers lost all their strength. Before he knew it, his dagger has already been taken away.
Guo XiaoTian was just shocked to see all this.
He knows that his adopted brother is the descendent of a renowned hero and his family's kungfu is slightly superior from his own from their daily sparring.
But it was as if he was nothing in front of this Taoist, the move that he just pulled off was obviously "Bare Hand Seizes Blade", a skill that he has only heard of in the martial world. He immediately picked up a wooden bench that he was sitting on, waiting to block the dagger when the Taoist inevitably stabs back at his adopted brother.
I'd say YG's grandfather was slightly better than GJ's father due to the Yang Family Spear Technique.
It seems even in LOCH2003 EP 01 they had YTS better than GST.
I just love how you Captivate My Mind

Guo Xiaotian hardly ever used his twin halberds in the novel. Only very very briefly while defending his wife to get to a horse. In fact Yang Tiexin did most of the major fighting and all the killing. Guo Xiaotian kicked down several soldiers while he was bounded, but that was the only time he had shown any martial prowess. It is said that Yang family kungfu is silightly superior to Guo family's but its hard to guage Guo Xiaotian's individual talent and ability based on his very limited screen time as a fighter. I have to say Yang Tiexin the much better warrior, at least what we get to see.
There's also that bit when the two brothers see Qu Lingfeng killing those palace guards, and when they are discovered, Yang Tiexin walks out in front of Guo Xiaotian in order to protect his weaker brother - I think even Qu Lingfeng noticed that and commented on it.
He said oh you so righteous brother Yang to step up since your pitchfork is more suitable for the Yang family spear than it is for brother Guo's twin halberd skills. Such loyalty.Originally posted by Ian Liew
