Wu Lin's worst family (character-wise)

In the relam of wuxia, there has been great families w/ great traits, like:
- the "Guos" (not counting GF) and "Huang" from LOCH + ROCH for bravery, patriotism, kindness and intelligence
- the "Duans" from DGSD for patience, kindness, just (discounting Duan Zheng Cun's playboy activity)
- the "Yang" family starting from YG in ROCH for intelligence, friendship, sincereness
- the "Hu" family in FF for courage, bravery and righteousness

But there are also families with bad traits. Who would you say, had the worst family in terms of character?

My choices:

- BFF + Happy King in "Wu Lin Wai Shi": totally weird + mad
- Ji family in "Ming Jian Feng Liu": they are mad w/ incest
- Chen family in Book + Sword:
- QL is the alright one w/ intelligence, but betrays his
brother (even though I agree with him)
- CJL: no offense but he's got everything to be great
about but he doesn't use it to achieve
- FKA: there is nothing good about him

The worst family would be the Zhu and Wu family who tried to trick ZWJ in HSDS. They were descendants of good guys, but instead they had evil mind.

The first family that comes to my mind is the Ji family in Ming Jian Feng Liu.

In XAJH, the Yu family--Yu Cang Hai and his son were scums. Even his students were scums too...even though they're not blood related, the teacher-student relationship is like parent and child.

In Sword Stained with Royal Blood, how about Wen Jia Wu Lao...all five of those guys were terrible killed and raped Xia Xue Yi's family, excluding Wen Yi and her sister, the father murdered his own daughter,

In Flying Fox, theres the Tin clan that seem to be greedy and scheming all through many generations of that clan esp Tin Kwai Lung--stealing people's wife and killing his own sifu and first wife and using people. I'm not sure about the other two clans...but they were greedy but not as bad as the Tin family.

Should we include the MoRong family too?

You should read it. It's a very dark and sad novel (a bit similar to Count of Monte Cristo). I think Wu was that family's surname. They tried everything to find this treasure cave, even setting up their own family members (wife and daughter) and killing them.

The first family I could think of is the Morons in DGSD. Then maybe the Yu scumbags in XAJH. Then the Yang family in the trilogy (all of them made very poor life decisions, bunch of fools).

The Qiu family isn't that wonderful either (Qiu Qianzhang, Qiu Qianren and Qiu Qianchi) of ROCH.
And Qiu Qianchi had the nerve to say this to her brother:"Brother, don't listen to the lies of that old monk! We, the Qius are a family of heroes! How can you not avenge the death of our first brother? What kind of hero are you!"

Shall we look at this family a bit closer?

Qiu Qianzhang was a lying, weak, idiot with poor martial arts abilities who was a poor excuse of a lackey working for the Jurchens.
Qiu Qianren (before he became the Buddhist monk Ci'en) was a despicable man who ambushed a baby. Betrayed the founding principles of the Iron Palm Association, disregarded the teachings of his teacher. He surrendered to the Jurchen empire and became a slave to them.
Qiu Qianchi, don't get me started about her.

Now that Athena mentioned Qiu Qian Chi, what about her husband and her? They were both bad parents and somehow their daughter turned out to be a goodie. Hmm...perhaps their daughter and Guo Fu were switched at birth man...cuz Guo Fu belonged to Qiu Qian Chi and her husband, they'd make great family. And Qiu Qian Chi's daughter can be HR and GJ's daughter.

Oh the Qius were famous for stealing babies (Qiu Qian Ren and Ying Gu's baby). Your conspiracy theory might be true. But if that had been the case, then Yang Guo would have never left the island to show his arrogance and stupidity to the rest of the world.

How about the Gung Sheun Family that ran the Passionless Valley in ROCH (which, incidentally, also includes Kau Cheen Chek, so she has the dubious distinction of belonging to *two* lousy wuxia families)? The good-hearted daughter Gung Sheun Luk Ngok aside, this family was the *definitive* dysfunctional wuxia family. Gung Sheun Tze and Kau Cheen Chek's hatred of each other was almost a twisted mirror image of Yeung Gor and Little Dragon Girl's love for each other (that was probably the idea).

The Ji family is just sick.

First of all, they own the Murder Manor. Everyone can just go in and kill without remorse. The owner of the manor tortures people and cat for fun.

Second, the Ji's have a fasination with death. They even go and observe their own death in a specially built place.

Third, they have a compulsion to dominate the wulin. These traits were passed on throughout their generations. These attempts to conquer the wulin is fone through despicable acts and deceits.

Fourth, The two brother and sister are involved in incest. and produced a mentally unstable son, who's the owner of th emanor as described above. Not only that, the sister is also involved with another man who's far younger than she is. In effect, a sharing relationship.

The families that pop up in my mind are the Wan family in Bi Xue Jian. Gosh, I can't stand them... The only one that was decent was Wan Yi.

The other family is the Tian family in Flying Fox. Gosh he and his daughter are horrible people!!

Which family is this? Wan Zhenshan's family, or Ling Tuisi's family?

The Ouyangs of White Camel Mountain were not exactly a great family either, being pretty bad villains, and even had incestual relationships within the family.

A family which I liked a lot but which had a very sad ending was Liu Zhengfeng's family. Liu Zhengfeng was an upright, benevolent, pacifist kind of person, and was the second most powerful man in Hengshan. His wife was devoted to him. Their eldest son was probably not a brilliant youth (not even having a name), but he did not fear death. His daugher, Liu Jing, was brave and classy, being calm enough to ignore the Songshan disciple harassing her and Qu Yang's granddaughter (until he eventually used force to grab her). She also, with a blade at her neck, yelled at Songshan's Lu Bai and cursed Songshan as being worse than the Demon Sect, and paid for it with her life. His youngest son Liu Qi was probably the only weak link, but then again he was very young. Even the Liu family disciples such as Xiang Danian loved their master enough to die for him, and you could just imagine that but for a bit of fate, It could have been Yue Buqun, Linghu Chong and Yue Lingshan who got threatened that day, but if it was, Liu Zhengfeng would probably have done more to save them than Yue did for his family.

Not that they're really evil but how about the Peach Fairies of XAJH. Six brothers with same hobby, which is tearing people body apart.
