How much did Gwok Seung's martial arts improve between ROCH and HSDS?

At the end of ROCH, Gwok Seung seemed fairly helpless. It didn't seem like the girl could defend herself much at all (granted, she was being threatened by powerful fighters like the Golden Wheel Monk and Lui Mor Singh). By the time we see her again three years later at the beginning of HSDS, however, Gwok Seung seemed to have grown into a much better fighter. Although she was unable to defeat the Shaolin monk Mo Sik, the breadth of her skills did impress the old Shaolin monk. How much did Gwok Seung actually improve during those three years?

She tricked the monk into being impressed. She pulled seemingly powerful stances from many different styles. Had the monk known that she didn't have any substance in her attacks, he'd have fought less cautiously and won more easily.

Oh come on. Not everyone is like Z3F as a kid. She's only what?15 or 16? It's not like she's had years of training with a mystical martial art. Of course she's going to lose to the top fighters of the Tibet Shaolin school.

So...nearly a decade later, what's our takeaway on this? How much did Gwok Seung's martial arts improve during those three years, if they did at all?

When we see GS at ROCH she was barely out of puberty so it's no wonder her Martial Arts was limited.

By HSDS she was a young adult who had had 3 years of contact with some of the most powerful Martial Artists in the era so some improvement was no surprise.

Its a bit unfair to be to critical of her as we only get to she her at the early stages of her development, even the 2 big guns GJ and YG needed decades of training and several freakish encounters to reach their peak.

We do know she had great potential along with a sharp mind and her later development, at least in theoretical Martial Arts was equal to Z3F and may even had rivalled the Greats.
