    Default Lightness Kungfu on water?

how many people in Jin Yong's Novel can actually like jump on water? and name them. All I know is SPT. and I know the Greats in the Condor Trilogy couldn't. Also QQR's title was said to be capable of doing such a feat, but did he ever actually did it?

Didn't SPT used a piece of wood to cross to the other side?

I dont think QQR could actually walk on water i think he got the name due to his level of of lightness kung fu then again i never read LOCH.

Hmmmm...actually i checked the book and could not find the part where XLN is able to use her lightness kungfu and forces herself back onto cliff from a leaf...i thought it was during her battle wit GS apparently not...maybe i saw it on tvb or something....

Of all the unbelievable superhuman feats performed in wuxia fiction, skimming the surface of a body of water is one of the *less* unbelievable feats to me. Many of us have skimmed stones across the water, and there *is* a kind of reptile that can skim across water. We know the physics involved aren't impossible, but how to make the human body accomplish this is where the fiction part comes in.

Wow, the lizard's skill is pretty tight. He'll be running faster than any of Jin Yong's characters it were human size.

Using pieces of wood or not, I'll say SPT is still quite formidable. That being said, however, IMHO it was more due to his inner power rather than to his lightness gongfu. I think he probably used the impact of his hit on the water to jump back to the air, making it seemed like he was jumping on the water. I could be wrong, of course, that's just my own theory.

If you count a non Jin Yong character, Wu Ming and Charn Jian in Ying Xiong can walk on water while dueling.
    Swordsmanship’s Ultimate Ideal

Swordsmanship’s first achievement is the unify of man and sword. Once this unity is attained, even a blade of grass can be a weapon

The second achievement is when the sword exists in one's heart, when absent from one's hand. One can strike an enemy at 100 paces even with bare hands

Swordsmanship’s ultimate achievement is the absence of the sword in both hand and heart. The swordsman is at peace with the rest of the world

that lizard does it by air bubbles in his feet or something so it doesn't break the surface of the water.

once when i was younger i saw kids trying to run on water across a creek nearby. it was funny.

SPT isn't the only one who used that trick. Zhang Cui San in HSDS did the same thing when he was chasing Yin Su Su's boat. However, I think that the distances were different though (maybe longer in SPT's case).

QQR had that nickname because his lightness kungfu was so good that he looked like he was "running on water" when he performed it, not that he actually could. The guy was almost drowned in LOCH after his fight with Ying Gu when the ship sank

I think GJ did the samething in Ch 3 or 4 of ROCH, when he chop down a branch from a tree and throw it into the water to jump on it.

What SPT did was probably more impressive because of the distance. If I'm not mistaken the ship was still rather far from the shore when SPT noticed his future wife and mother-in-law jump into the sea. He needed to cover long distance jumping on the water to save them. So it sounds more impressive.

Maybe it was non-newtonian fluids that QQR can run on?
Burying his Dugu 9 Jian manual under an epitaph, Dugu Qiubai felt he has left his legacy for the next generation. He then moved to Shaolin to study Buddhism, sweep floors and tap elite fighters.
