Hi, nodoubt81, thanks for info. This price is definitely much lower than YesAsia.Originally Posted by nodoubt81

has anyone here ever purchased TVB's DVD from fivestarlaser? I would like to know the quality of the products and their service.
Thank you.
I bought ROCH 84 and LOCH 82 from them and both were legit Tai sengs. all the movies I bought were legit also. no bootlegs here. I ordered DOMB and HSDS from them also so if you are willing to wait...Originally Posted by shaw_mag

Big chance I will order HSDS.
I think Yesasia charges more because they get the product to you quickly. Generally, it doesn't take more than a few days to get the product right to your door.
But Yesasia asks for *much* more money in exchange for expediency.
Looks like there's been a delay in the release date too. Yesterday, Yesasia.com said that the HSDS '86 set would be released today (January 12). Now, it says January 19.

And it's not even available through Yesasia.com in North America at the moment. Grrr...
Yesasia is not always on time. They have a crapload of delays. I already have Radio tycoon which i got for a few weeks already and Yesasia is only taking pre orders right now.Originally Posted by Ken Cheng

I've had pretty good luck with Yesasia so far. In each case, I've received my merchandise less than a week after I ordered it...sometimes within 72 hours.Originally Posted by almo89
I also tried ordering from Malmusic.com once; that took more than a month, and the merchandise arrived only after I prodded them a bit.
A question for you, nodoubt81.Originally Posted by nodoubt81
When you mention "wait," do you mean waiting a week or two for an order to be shipped? Or is fivestarlaser one of those companies that delivers the product to you three to six months after you've ordered it?
I need to know before considering my options.
i think i ordered last thursday night. both were shipped friday morning through ups with a scheduled delivery date of 1/18. i will post pics when i get them.Originally Posted by Ken Cheng
scratch that. looks like they don't have HSDS in stock yet since my card was only charged for one item.
I'm still waiting to see if HSDS '86 on DVD *this* month is for real or just vaporware.
First, the release date was listed as January 12. This was almost immediately postponed to January 18 or January 19 depending on which site you go to. Fivestarlaser's release date is a noncommital "January, 2007," no day specified.
Malmusic.com doesn't even list the date.
Most disturbingly, Yesasia (U.S.) had it on their "Coming Soon" list for preorder briefly (like a few hours), then withdrew it with only the mysterious remark, "This product is no longer for sale," which raises more questions than it answers.
Yesasia Global has it available, but won't deliver to the U.S.; people in the U.S. have to get it from Yesasia U.S., which apparently isn't selling at this point.
Something is rotten in Denmark, I tell you...

my DOMD dvd boxset arrived this week from YesAsia Global. Neat packaging like ROCH83 and LOCH82...and they threw in a useless TVB calendar (to me anyway).

Good for you, nodoubt!
Have u played it? Any defect (sound, sharpness, etc) ?
I'm still paranoid about HSDS '86. Yesasia.com is not selling it and won't explain why (not even after I contacted them by email). Fivestarlaser.com is selling it, but they don't know the release date (only "sometime this month," and the month is almost over). What the devil is going on here, TVBI? Is there a product or isn't there? Is there some kind of technical or legal snag holding up its retail in the U.S.?

Well, I got a reply at last from Yeasia.com. The email they sent seems to bear out my worst fears about HSDS '86:
Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for writing YesAsia!
Due to copyright issue, we are sorry this item will not be available to US/Canada customers currently.
The New Heaven Sword & The Dragon Sabre (End) (Uncut Edition) (English Subtitled) (TVB Drama) DVD:

The email does not indicate whether this is a Yesasia.com only problem, or if NOBODY will be allowed to sell the HSDS '86 DVD in the U.S./Canada.
Fivestarlaser.com still has it as a preorder, as does Malmusic.com and Sensasian.com, but no specific release date.
I am truly beginning to think we're not going to see this DVD in North America.
Yeah, that's exactly what i thought. Also, US and Canada has slightly different rules. US sells Tai Seng version and we don't get those in Canada at all. The store where i get it from will have HSDS 86 this week, well that's what the boss says. Usually when they don't have a North American version, they'll order the original HK version for me. It will actually say: "For Sale in Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR only". So far my Instinct and LOCH 82 DVD are actual HK versions. This is the problem buying with Yesasia, there are so many legal issues. I'm crossing my fingers for HSDS 86Originally Posted by Ken Cheng

Here in Southern California, the fellow at Fivestarlaser (I actually visited their retail store in San Gabriel the other day) said "by the end of the month." I can only hope that he...Originally Posted by almo89

Did the LOCH '82 and ROCH '83 DVD sets experience similar delays between Hong Kong/Macao and North American release?

Ya this whole thing is kinda weird but there seems to be different rules for different places. As for LOCH 82 and ROCH 82, I don't quite remember if there was a delay. My ROCH DVD is the "For Sale outside of Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR" version.Originally Posted by Ken Cheng
