I've heard *rumors* that the DVDs feature some bits of replacement musical tracks in certain scenes. I have yet to encounter these (but I haven't really watched my new DVDs yet). When I do watch them, I'll have to take note of these if indeed they exist.

LOCH seemed untouched, but I was turned off by the bad sound, so I didn't focus. ROCH had a few scenes that added new music. Lets not even talk about Grand Canal, since it's probably the worst release. I'm on ep 18 for DOMD and so far so good. Right now it looks like DOMD is the best release on DVD right now. All the other TVB shows I have on DVD seemed untouched too.

I hope that TVB officials are reading this thread and taking notes (and hopefully, bypassing LuNaR's remarks).

LOL about LuNaR haha. Regarding TVB listening to fans, I dunno, they have screwed up many times.

Hey, well, they finally delivered on the HSDS '86 DVDs when I threatened them with parading their incompetent marketing all over the Intenet.

Good job! We need ppl like you to take the initiative. I'm surprised they repsponded (by taking action) so quickly after you started emailing them. I was really really surprised.

I think TVB is probably watching this site and others more carefully than most people would suspect. For example, the HSDS '86 VCDs were not released until *years* after the LOCH '82 and ROCH '83 VCDs were issued. TVB apparently considered the HSDS '86 series a low priority, favoring the 1978 Adam Cheng version of HSDS for VCD release a good two or three years before releasing the '86 version on VCD.

But when the ROCH '83 and LOCH '82 DVD sets became available a few months ago, I expressed interest in getting HSDS '86 to complete the 1980s version of THE CONDOR HEROES TRILOGY. Voila, a few short months later, HSDS '86 on DVD is a reality (ahead of other classic series such as THE BUND).

If TVB *isn't* reading our posts and responding to them, I'd be surprised.

If they are, that would be sweet. Time to create one gigantic wish list

I just hope they start releasing some of the good ones that came out on VCD like Police Cadet, Greed of Man, New Adventures of Chor Lau Heung and a bunch of goodies.

TVB mine as well make another series better w/ those money or like remake the bund.
    hmm...thats' not exactly true.
I'm turning 17 this march so technically in still 16
and having my mom tell me about the old series, I really want to watch them such as The Bund, Chor Lau Heung etc...and if TVB is willing to sell the Bund, which is one of the series I want to watch, that would be great.

and the 80s loch with andy lau in it wasnt bad...it was more realistic than the new ones.

I received my HSDS 86 Tai Seng DVD yesterday. It has total 10 discs (4 eps per disc). Looks exactly like the pictures provided by nodoubt. I am satisfied with the image and sound quality.

It shows DVD 9, NTSC All. Can DVD player in Asia or Europe play it?

it will be money well spent...that's one of the best ancient series i've ever seen...and the girl that was in it is no longer alive...so it would be a good investment
I'm not even Chinese or Thai, but I am obsessed with their TV series. Current obsession: Ken Theeradeth Wonpuapan. He has super good looks and is very talented.

I think Barbara Yung and Felix Wong are the best Wong Yung and Kwok Jing ever and as a couple, they have fantastic chemistry. Even most of the supporting cast are the best in TV history (IMHO) - Chun Wong as Chow Bat Tong ; Lau Dan as Hong 7 Gong ; Kenneth Tsang as Wong Yuerk Si ; the actress who played Saw Gu etc (please excuse my cantonese) On top of that, one of the themesongs is also an all-time fav of mine.

However, you have to be prepared that since this production is made more than two decades ago, the technology used, setting and props look outdated.

I can't speak for others but I really love this version of LOCH. None of the newer versions can beat that.

Definetly buy the DVD version, I've got the one with English subs and from what I can see, there are no scenes cut. I'm really happy with mine. My friend has the VCD version, and apparently all the funny scenes have been cut from it, so if you're gonna buy it, why not spend that little extra and buy a full version of it.
Jessica Hsuan + Louis Koo = Amazing Chemistry!

SO DGSD 82 will be the next one out?? That is good to hear that they are still releasing the old classics. I wonder when Bi Xue Jian and Xia Ke Xing from the 80s will out??

Yeah I thought they were gonna stop releasing old classics this year. The reason I say this is because i received a calendar from yesasia and it shows the series they are gonna releasing this year, but none of them are from the 80s. Can't wait till DGSD is coming out.

I actually believe that until recently, TVB didn't really have plans to release most of its classic series on DVD. The sales of LOCH '82 and ROCH '83, however, showed them that people were willing to part with serious cash for this kind of product, so they're doing the logical thing and cashing in.
