TVB Released VCD/DVD Questions

I just watched the TVB DVD release of War of the Dragon, and this one seems to be cut also. Some violent scenes were trimmed down, that was available in my old Vietnamese dubbed version. These are the cut scenes that I remember:

1) A guy has his ear cut and walks on the street, bumping into the mother of Yammie Lam's character and her spoiled son.

2) When Simon Yam is beaten in the Japanese restaurant, where he gets stuffed with Wasabi, there should be a scene where he also gets cigarettes stuffed into his mouth.

3) SPOILER...................................

.................................................. .....The death scene of Canti Lau's character and his friend at the end. An additional shot of them being shot in the knees are cut, also the scene where Canti gets shot and falls down to the ground.

So they bother to release the 1996 remake and they can't bother to release the 1980 original?

Goddamn, TVB's marketing is lame!

No need to wait if you really want it Japan has released The Bund on DVD a long time ago, it is quite pricey, but I bought it anyway hehe. The quality is top-notch, totally uncut, and surprisingly it has both Cantonese and Mandarin dialogues, but only with Japanese subtitles, http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=GNBF-7084

And now the funny thing, one of the DVD contains the lame teaser trailer for the TVB VCD release of The Bund, hehe, looked like the Japs were like mocking TVB :P

I can't imagine how sharp the TVB scissors are if they decide to release The Final Verdict to DVD.......

I have never quite understood the reason behind those edited dvd releases. Did they ever say why?
