TVB Released VCD/DVD Questions

Hope they will ship it out soon, sooo looking forward to watching part II and III. Btw, does part II and III still use the background music from part I? Or do they use tunes of the intro music of the sequels?

Missed this question earlier, so I'll address it now.

Generally, Part II and Part III each uses its own suite of theme BGM (background music), but TVB, quite cleverly, occasionally used Part I's themes in Part II and Part III...especially during moments when Ding Lik reminisced about the past. There was a very touching five-minute sequence in Episode 4 of Part II when Ding Lik remembered a conversation he had with Hui Mun Keung a few years earlier, and the Part I theme was played. What was great about this scene is that it wasn't in Part I. Yes: Chow Yun Fat returned to film a new five-minute sequence for Part II that revealed a previously untold conversation between Hui Mun Keung and Ding Lik...one that proved prophetic about Ding Lik's current circumstances as of Part II.

Also, I previously was under the impression that Hui Mun Keung was never alluded to in Part III. As it turns out, in the very last episode of Part III, Ding Lik makes a very brief, but poignant mention of

"Mun-gor" that shows us how mature Ah Lik had become by Part III. Hui Mun Keung would have been so proud of his old friend and sworn brother if he could have seen Ah Lik in Part III.

For the people who ordered from fivestarlaser, how did you do it? The site doesn't work at all. I get an error message when I try to create an account and also when I try to add anything to the shopping basket and check out, it says the basket is empty. I also emailed them and didn't get a response. I tried the motionandsound site too, same thing. Is it just me?

I'm not sure about the account thing though and not sure why they're not responding to emails.

I didn't have to pay anything extra so i assume everything is A-OKAY. All the discs were firmly in their disc holders *thank god*

Yes they should be originals. That site doesn't sell bootlegs *i believe*
Most are their products are from official Taiseng releases.

Also, anyone know how to convert RMVB files to DVD format? I tried using WinAVI Video Converter 8.0. The video converted okay BUT there was NO AUDIO!!!! Can anyone tell me how to convert RMVB files to DVD format properly so that there is audio????

The full series of "Greatness of a Hero" is coming out soon. I'm looking forward to that one, it's a TVB ancient drama set during the Tang dynasty.

After watching THE BUND trilogy, you might not ever want or need to watch any other series again.

What else is there to watch after you've watched the Greatest?

Ahhh Batman....... but there are other good ones around like "Chor Lau Heung 1979" by Adam Cheng, Michelle Yim's "LOCH" and "ROCH". These are just the "few" good ones. Don't forget "The Book and Sword" too!

Wuxia adaptations are different, though, because Jin Yong and Gu Long have already done the "heavy lifting" for TVB. There's no need to create characters, write storylines and dialogue, or establish themes, etc. The wuxia writers have already done that. It's just a matter of casting correctly and then doing a good directing job. Not that those efforts shouldn't be recognized, but it's entirely different from building an epic from the ground up like TVB did with THE BUND.
